A LEGACY OF PROTECTION

Since 1997, courageous partners worldwide have partnered with us to bring freedom and safety to vulnerable children, women and men. From our first rescue operations to our rapid global expansion, IJM has protected over 10 million vulnerable people.

LATE 1990s

The Spark: A Vision for Justice

Gary

After witnessing the Rwandan genocide, Gary Haugen founded IJM to protect the poor from violence—sparking global support and urgent early rescues.

2000s

Building a Global Movement

IJM launched offices across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, partnering with governments to rescue victims, reform systems, and transform public perception.
