We are Ireland's oldest independent human rights body.
The Irish Council for Civil Liberties is non-partisan and 100% independent of government and big business. This is only possible thanks to the generous support of our members.
Together, we work for a fairer, freer Ireland.
For all our rights, No Exceptions.

Our Campaigns
We campaign for laws, courts and police to respect and uphold human rights.
We want to hear from you
Have you been arrested while peacefully protesting?
We're launching a new survey for individuals who have been arrested by An Garda Síochána during a peaceful protest. You'll be asked to share information about when and where you were arrested, what type of protest you were arrested at and what reason was given for your arrest.
This initiative is part of our on-going work to monitor and analyse emerging trends in the policing of protest in Ireland. All data gathered will be anonymised, aggregated, treated with confidentiality and kept in accordance with relevant data protection laws.

Are you a human rights activist with an interest in protest and public order policing?
The Irish Network of Legal Observers is a network of individuals who have been trained by ICCL and the University of Galway to be legal observers. The Irish Network of Legal Observers is overseen by a Steering Committee comprised of international experts and academics working in the area of protest, public order policing, civic space and human rights.
ICCL conducts legal observer trainings on a quarterly basis. Anyone who attends one of the trainings, and upholds the terms of participation can be a legal observer.
