It provides solid coverage across the board, such as travel medical benefits of $250,000, per person, and $500,000 for medical evacuation, per person. Cruise-specific benefits include $500 per person for itinerary changes that force you to miss pre-paid activities or that eliminate a destination from the itinerary and a $500 per person benefit if your cruise is diverted or disabled.

Trip Protection Annual Multi-Trip: This policy lasts for 365 days and will cover multiple trips within that time frame. You can choose trip interruption limits of $2,500, $5,000, $10,000, $20,000 or $30,000. It includes $250,000 in travel medical insurance per person, and $500,000 in medical evacuation insurance, per person. You also get $2,000 in trip delay benefits with a six-hour waiting period and $1,000 in baggage delay benefits after a 12-hour waiting period.


Seven Corners Travel Medical Plans for Visitors to the USA

Travel Medical USA Visitor Basic and Travel Medical USA Visitor Choice: These policies from Seven Corners are for non-U.S. visitors to the States. They provide travel medical expense coverage for those here on trips up to 364 days. They each have a maximum coverage amount of $1 million for the duration of the policy. They provide coverage of $50,000, $100,000 or $150,000 for travelers up to age 69 and $50,000 or $100,000 for ages 70 to 99. The Choice plan has higher limits for surgeries, hospital stays, doctor visits and other medical treatment.

Travel Medical Insurance for Trips Including the USA: This policy is for non-U.S. citizens traveling to the Unites States, as well as other destinations outside of their home country.

These plans from Seven Corners are for non-U.S. visitors to the States. They provide travel medical expense coverage for those here on trips up to 364 days.

The Travel Medical Global Basic and Travel Medical Global Plus plans offer maximum coverage of $50,000 to $1 million for travelers up to age 69, $50,000 or $100,000 for those age 70 to 79 and $10,000 for travelers age 80 and older. The Plus plan reimburses 90% of the first $10,000 in covered expenses for out-of-network care, compared to 80% for the Basic plan.


Optional Add-ons to Seven Corners Policies

Many travel insurance companies offer optional upgrades that provide coverage for certain situations that your basic policy excludes.

The Cruise Insurance, Trip Protection Choice and Trip Protection Basic plans all offer “cancel for any reason” travel insurance and “interruption for any reason” upgrades:

  • IFAR: This coverage provides reimbursement for 75% of prepaid and non-refundable expenses if your trip gets interrupted for any reason, even if the reason is excluded from your base policy. It generally adds 3% to 10% to your travel insurance cost and coverage usually doesn’t start until 48 hours or more into your trip.
  • CFAR: “Adding this coverage reimburses 75% of your prepaid and non-refundable travel expenses if something happens and you have to cancel your trip, regardless of the reason. You typically have to cancel no less than 48 hours prior to your departure for benefits to apply. CFAR generally adds about 50% to your travel insurance cost, but we’ve calculated the amount based on a $6,000 trip for a couple age 40.

Seven Corners’ policies cover unforeseen events that can disrupt your trip before and after you leave. These problems can include delays due to severe weather, trip cancellation because you become sick, and medical care costs for accidents and injuries that happen during a trip.

Trip cancellation: If you cancel your trip for a reason outlined in the policy, trip cancellation insurance reimburses you for prepaid and non-refundable trip costs. Examples of reasons for cancellation in Seven Corners’ policies include severe weather and illness or injury to you or a family member.

Travel medical expenses: If you get sick or injured while traveling, travel medical insurance pays for medical expenses up to your policy limits.

Emergency medical evacuation: Medical evacuation travel insurance will help pay the cost of transportation to the nearest adequate treatment center that can treat your condition if during your trip you need immediate medical care.

Travel interruption: This coverage can reimburse you for money lost on prepaid, non-refundable expenses for the part of the trip you miss. If you need to go home early because an emergency listed in your policy arises, trip interruption insurance can also pay for a last-minute flight home.

We researched and analyzed 69 policies to find the best travel insurance. When companies had more than one highly rated travel insurance policy we used the highest-scoring plan. Ratings are based on the following metrics.

Cost (35% of score): We analyzed the average cost for each travel insurance policy for trips to popular destinations:

  • Couple, age 30 for a Mexico trip costing $3,000
  • Couple, age 40, for an Italy trip costing $6,000
  • Family of four for a Spain trip costing $15,000
  • Couple, age 65, for an Italy trip costing $6,000
  • Couple, age 70, for a Mexico trip costing $3,000

Medical expenses (15% of score): Travel insurance policies with travel medical expense benefits of $250,000 and up per person were given the highest points.

Medical evacuation (15% of score): Travel insurance policies with medical evacuation expense benefits of $500,000 and up per person were given the highest points.

“Cancel for any reason” upgrade (10%): Travel insurance policies received points if “cancel for any reason” upgrades are offered. More points were awarded for “cancel for any reason” upgrades with reimbursement levels of 75%.

Trip interruption travel insurance (5%): Points were given if trip interruption reimbursement is 150% or higher.

Travel delay required waiting time (5%): Policies with travel delay benefits kicking in after six hours or less were given points.

Baggage delay required waiting time (5%): Policies with baggage delay benefits kicking in at 12 hours or less were given points.

Pre-existing medical condition exclusion waiver (5%): Points were given to policies that cover pre-existing medical conditions (if purchased within a required timeframe after the first trip deposit).

Do Seven Corners travel insurance plans cover Covid?

Seven Corners has travel insurance plans that include coverage for Covid-related trip cancellation and medical expenses. For example, both the Trip Protection Choice plan and Trip Protection Basic plan include Covid coverage.

If you get sick with Covid right before you were planning to leave on a trip and have to cancel, these plans will reimburse you for 100% of what you lose in pre-paid and non-refundable deposits. And if you get sick with Covid during your trip, these plans can cover associated medical costs.

Do Seven Corners travel insurance plans cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Pre-existing medical condition exclusion waivers are available from Seven Corners for Trip Protection Choice and Get Away USA customers. These waivers give you travel medical coverage for pre-existing conditions. To qualify for the waiver, you must:

  • Buy your policy within 20 days of the date of your initial trip payment.
  • Insure all non-refundable prepaid trip costs.
  • Insure the cost of future travel arrangements added to your trip within 20 days of paying for the new arrangements.
  • Not be disabled from travel when you bought your travel insurance plan.

Does Seven Corners have “cancel for any reason” coverage?

Seven Corners provides the option to upgrade to “cancel for any reason” (CFAR) coverage on its Trip Protection Basic, Trip Protection Choice and Get Away USA plans.

“Cancel for any reason” coverage gives you the option to cancel a trip up to two days before departure for a reason not listed in the plan’s base trip cancellation reasons. For example, you could cancel your trip because you changed your mind about traveling.

Make sure to check the rules for CFAR for the plan you’re buying. With Seven Corners, CFAR reimburses you for 75% of your non-refundable trip cost. To make a CFAR claim with Seven Corners you’ll need to:

  • Cancel your trip two days or more before your scheduled departure date.
  • Buy insurance with CFAR coverage within 20 days of your initial trip deposit.
  • Insure all non-refundable, prepaid trip costs including the cost of any additional travel arrangements added to your trip within 15 days of paying for the arrangements.
