Don’t invest unless you’re prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment, and you shouldn't expect protection if something goes wrong.
Who Is Crypto.com Good For?
Crypto.com has more than 250 coins and serves as a marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). With so many coins and tokens available, it’s a great starting place for most beginners.
However, if you’re in the U.S., you must use the Crypto.com mobile application. But the Crypto.com app still offers most of the exchange’s features.
What Makes Crypto.com a Good Choice
With numerous perks and features, Crypto.com could be a particularly strong option for those willing to go all in on the platform.
The platform’s website contains excellent educational materials as well as in-depth research and analysis. The website also offers educational updates on markets. But if you’re looking for some customer support, you might find Crypto.com’s services a bit lacking. The crypto platform only provides chat support.
But if that is not a paramount issue, there are some other advantages to using Crypto.com. One big perk: trading discounts.
Like most crypto exchanges, Crypto.com has its own native cryptocurrency, known as CRO— and holding CRO can help you lower your trading fees on the platform. There are also other notable features that come with this crypto trading platform. Crypto.com also offers a prepaid Visa card that functions like a rewards debit card, allowing users to spend their crypto holdings easily.
Plus, if you’re interested in storage options, the Crypto.com DeFi Wallet is a strong option for crypto investors.
Crypto.com’s Disadvantages
The Crypto.com exchange platform—separate from the app—in its entirety, is only available to select institutional investors in the U.S.
This means most U.S.-based users are limited to the app version and unable to access many of the platform’s more advanced features, such as stop-loss limits, one-cancels-the-other order (OCO) limits as well as trading via API and trading bots. The exchange platform also offers over-the-counter (OTC) trading to select clients.
Within the U.S., Crypto.com isn’t available to New York residents.
Also, if you plan on using a credit or debit card, expect to pay some hefty fees—as high as 4%. While there are workarounds, like using ACH transactions, not all banks can be connected to Crypto.com.
Crypto.com Features
Fees
Like many other crypto exchange platforms, Crypto.com uses a maker-taker fee structure. You pay a maker fee if your order creates liquidity, or a taker fee if there is no matching order or your order reduces liquidity because it matches with an order already on the books.
In general, you can expect to pay a higher fee as a taker, although Crypto.com reduces your fees based on your trading volume and whether or not you are staking CRO tokens. The more you trade over a 30-day period and the more CRO tokens you stake, the higher your discount.
The fees for spot trading on the Crypto.com exchange platform are shown in the table below:
30-Day Trading Volume | Maker Fee | Taker Fee |
---|---|---|
$0 to $250,000 | 0.075% | 0.075% |
$250,000 to $1,000,000 | 0.070% | 0.070% |
$1,000,000 to $5,000,000 | 0.065% | 0.065% |
$5,000,000 to $10,000,000 | 0.060% | 0.065% |
$10,000,000 and above | 0.00% | 0.050% |
With CRO staking on the Crypto.com exchange, you can reduce your fees even more by receiving a rebate of a percentage of your fee in CRO. Benefits include an annual percentage rate (APR) of up to 8% interest paid daily
The Crypto.com app works on a different structure than the fees charged on the exchange platform. The Crypto.com app offers a broker model, whereby the company quotes prices to customers.
In addition, ACH transfers into and out of Crypto.com are free, but the platform does charge fees for using a credit card.
Finally, every cryptocurrency traded on Crypto.com has its own withdrawal fees to consider when making transactions.
Security
Crypto.com is among some of the top-rated exchanges for security by ranking site CER.live.
The exchange holds all user cryptocurrencies offline and only holds corporate funds in online crypto wallets. For U.S.-based users, balances held in U.S. dollars are placed in a Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) insured bank account.
Multifactor authentication (MFA) processes to protect all Crypto.com transactions. Transactions are protected by MFA, which includes a password, biometrics as well as email, phone, and authenticator verification.
Opening a Crypto.com Account
To register with Crypto.com, U.S. users will need to download the Crypto.com app.
After downloading the app, enter your email address. You’ll receive an email where, once you click the link, you can continue with the registration process.
Next, the user will confirm their phone number with a verification code. Finally, they will have to complete additional verification processes, which can differ by country.

What Crypto.com Can Do to Improve
U.S. Availability
With use limited to only the mobile application, most U.S.-based users cannot access Crypto.com’s more advanced trading features.
App users don’t have access to all the exchange’s features. Some of the features of the Crypto.com Exchange include limit and market orders, margin trading and other advanced trading features like API and trading bots as well as OTC trading features.
Potentially High Withdrawal Fees
Crypto.com’s withdrawal fees can be steeper than some other crypto exchanges.
Methodology
To determine crypto exchange rankings, we assessed the features and options offered by nearly 25 exchanges, trading apps and brokerage platforms that offer crypto trading options.
To rank the best crypto exchanges overall and the best exchanges for beginners, we assessed all of the features and options offered by these 25 platforms. The editorial team then developed a standardized methodology, analyzing 10 key benchmark features and variables to assess quality across the platforms.
Basic trading features count as one factor in the overall and beginner rankings. Other ranking factors include platform availability, customer service, educational resources, security and storage, staking and rewards, to name a few.
The sum of weighted values across all or some of these key factors was calculated for each ranking to award each brokerage or exchange its overall rank. Margin trading, platform lending, and advanced trading were not considered for choosing the best crypto exchanges for beginners.
Crypto.com FAQs
What is the yield for Crypto.com’s Earn program?
What are the rewards on the Crypto.com Visa card?
The Crypto.com Visa Card* is available with several reward tiers based on how much CRO you are currently staking.
Each tier generally provides rebates for certain services, such as Spotify, Netflix or even Airbnb. Other benefits include free ATM withdrawals and anywhere from 1% to 5% cashback, depending on the amount of CRO staked.
In this case, cashback also means CRO, which could be inconvenient if you use the card solely for rewards. Users will likely need to convert CRO into fiat currency to access their cash rewards and might even have to pay taxes on that conversion. It also means the value of the rewards may change unexpectedly as CRO can experience somewhat volatile price swings.
