Motorbike on Mars in 'For All Mankind' Sci-Fi Series Season 5 Teaser

By Alex Billington
For All Mankind Season 5 Teaser

"Everything that's happened has lead to this moment. You're going to do things people can't even fathom. It's on you to make the next move..." Apple TV has unveiled a first look teaser for the latest Season 5 of the hit sci-fi series For All Mankind, which has been going strong since it first debuted in 2019. We haven't been keeping up with this, but this quick teaser is quite spectacular: the very first Martian (played by Sean Kaufman) rides his motorbike across the dunes and takes a giant leap – for mankind. This season picks up in the years since the asteroid heist. Happy Valley on Mars has grown into a thriving colony with thousands of residents and a base for new missions. But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Red Planet, friction continues to build between the people who live on Mars and their former home. The ensemble cast returning for season five includes Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, Wrenn Schmidt, with new regulars Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Cruz, and Ines Asserson. The new episodes will arrive starting in March - keep an eye out for this.

Christina Ricci & Mena Suvari in Sci-Fi Film 'The Dresden Sun' Trailer

By Alex Billington
The Dresden Sun Trailer

"The collective wants to achieve immortality." "But at what cost, doctor?" VMI Worldwide has revealed an official trailer for The Dresden Sun, an indie sci-fi thriller made by filmmaker Michael Ryan. He has been working on this for over a decade, trying to get this ambitious sci-fi project together. Now it's finally done and ready to go. In a world where technology and humanity collide, The Dresden Sun tells the gripping story of survival, betrayal, and redemption in a dystopian future. Starring an incredible ensemble cast including Steven Ogg, Linus Roache, Samantha Win, Richard Blackmon, plus featuring Mena Suvari and Christina Ricci in lead roles, this film delivers a cinematic experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat. "Change is constant. Death is Inevitable." A mercenary's heist of "the sphere" object from Peredor Corp goes wrong. C and Earth Corp go on the hunt to find this otherworldly tech for their science project. A financial analyst flees deadly rivals amid corporate espionage. As vibrant and flashy as this looks, filled with VFX galore, this looks a bit too generic and fancy to be properly exciting. Sci-fi fans should still have a look.

Louis Koo Returns in Time Travel Action Movie 'Back to the Past' Trailer

By Alex Billington
Back to the Past Trailer

"I deem only you to be trustworthy!" Back into history and there's more endless battles! Well Go USA has revealed an official US trailer for the Hong Kong action thriller time travel movie called Back to the Past, which seems like an obvious spoof title riffing on Back to the Future. This just opened in theaters over in Hong Kong & China on December 31st a few weeks ago - and it's hitting US theaters up on the big screen at the end of January soon. After losing everything for a crime he didn't commit, Ken vows to travel back in time to the Qin Dynasty and reclaim everything he lost by usurping the throne. The film is a continuation of the 2001 television series, A Step into the Past, which was adapted from Wong Yee's novel, The Chronicles of Searching Qin. Starring the original cast from the series: Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Jessica Hsuan, Sonija Kwok, Joyce Tang, and Michelle Saram all reprising their roles from the series. Well this looks exceptionally cheesy, almost like a SNL spoof trailer at times. Worth a look for a bit of historical action fun.

Apple TV's Kaiju Series 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' Season 2 Teaser

By Alex Billington
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 Teaser

"So... what's next?" "Consequences." Apple TV has revealed the first real teaser trailer for their next exciting Season 2 of the hit sci-fi show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, about Godzilla and King Kong and all the Kaiju (which are known as "Titans" in this "Monsterverse" series). This is a spin-off series based on the recent Godzilla movies, following people working for the secretive organization known as Monarch. The first season launched back in 2023 and turned out to be pretty damn good. The next season continues onward in February 2026 with episodes out every week. Based on Legendary's Monsterverse, the 10-episode epic series follows two siblings find themselves revisiting the past to uncover the truth behind the secret "Monarch" organization and the many emerging monsters. Season 2 picks up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong's Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The show stars Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell (both are returning again), with Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, and Joe Tippett. This teaser hints at the arrival of a gigantic new cephalopod titan - perhaps even Na Kika herself? There's a few epic teaser shots in the trailer - enjoy.

'Don't Hate Me, Bro' - In Defense of Avatar Sequels 'Spider' Character

By Alex Billington
Spider in Avatar: Fire and Ash

"Bro, you're right. He's, like, in every shot. Bro, look, look, he's giving her the looks." Don't hate on my bro Spider! He doesn't deserve this! For the last three years ever since Avatar: The Way of Water opened in theaters I've been out there defending my bro Spider. In all honesty, I do not really understand the hate. He has been called the Jar Jar Binks of Avatar, which doesn't even make sense, plus he's not even remotely as annoying as Jar Jar. Just because he says "bro" all the time and has dreadlocks, that's why so many people don't like him? Come on. Now that Avatar: Fire and Ash is finally out, it's time to discuss his importance in these sequels - especially because he becomes the centerpiece of Fire and Ash, literally evolving into the "unobtanium" valuable asset in this sequel. I know I'm probably not the only defender, but I definitely feel alone saying that Spider is one of my favorite characters in the Avatar sequels. Not only is he a vital part of the story connecting both sides, but I think he gives a wholesome performance and he embodies the "human kid who wishes he was a Na'vi" mentality perfectly hopping around the huge trees and swinging everywhere.

Alien in a Body Thriller 'The Infinite Husk' Trailer with Peace Ikediuba

By Alex Billington
The Infinite Husk Trailer

"If you fail this mission, you will never come home.?" Chroma has revealed the official trailer for an indie sci-fi film titled The Infinite Husk, ready for release starting in February in a few select theaters at first. It initially premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival last year and it also played at the Sitges Film Festival in the fall. The Infinite Husk is described as a "gritty, sci-fi thriller" that interrogates the human experience through the exiled extraterrestrial consciousness, Vel. Forced to occupy the human body of this young Black woman on Earth, she is sent on a treacherous mission to spy on one of her own kind in order to uncover the potential threat of a new & dangerous type of science. Huh, okay. Starring Peace Ikediuba as the alien, with Circus-Szalewski, Geena Alexandra, William Thomas Jones, Jyl Haruye Kineshiro, and Gary Lee Reed. This looks extra strange and kooky and a bit too abstract to actually make for a good film. I'm still quite curious about it – to see just how far they push this alien-inhabiting-a-human-body concept.

One Final Trailer for 'Greenland 2: Migration' Feat. Butler & Baccarin

By Alex Billington
Greenland 2: Migration Final Trailer

"You will be holding your breath from start to finish." Ready to watch? Lionsgate has debuted the third official trailer for Greenland 2: Migration, the disaster movie sci-fi sequel that has become an epic post-apocalyptic survival thriller movie. Hitting theaters on January 9th later this week - the original Greenland also opened during January in 2020. Get your tickets for the big screen experience! At the end of that first movie (spoilers!), this family barely makes it inside of the bunker in Greenland and then the comet strikes Earth and destroys everything. In this continuation of the story, the Garrity family, who survived a near-extinction level event when an interstellar comet hits Earth, must leave the safety of their Greenland bunker (after 5 years) and embark upon a perilous journey across the decimated frozen wasteland of Europe to create a new home - somewhere in France where the comet's main crater is. This new sequel stars Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Roger Dale Floyd, Roman Griffin Davis, Amber Rose Revah, Trond Fausa Aurvåg. This is a much more emotional trailer than the most recent second trailer - this one is all about the family trying to hold on & survive. Looks good! I'm there! Always up for an intense disaster movie.

By Alex Billington
Don't Push That! Trailer

"Every time we press the button, it scans the multiverse for the worst possible outcome..." An official trailer is availalbe for a wacky super low budget indie sci-fi comedy called Don't Push That, the latest creation by filmmaker Durden Godfrey down in Jacksonville, FL. This shoestring project was made on a budget of only $1500 - just proving you can still pull off making a fun film without spending much! Three friends stumble upon a mysterious government "device" with a "don't push" button that predicts the worst possible outcome of any moment. They accidentally activate it, forcing them to keep pressing the button every 11 minutes to save the world from exploding realities. Pursued by rogue agents and an eccentric "shadow patriot" named Tru Vega, they find themselves trapped between destiny & absurdity. Starring Taurean Royal, Domanick Graham, & Dalaiah Simeon. Looks amusing enough to watch – the floating multiverse box is a fun idea.

Watch: Old Animated Short 'There Will Come Soft Rains' Set in 2026

By Alex Billington
There Will Come Soft Rains Short Film

"There will come soft rains & the smell of the ground, and swallows circling with their shimmering sound." An eerie, ominous warning from the past about our techno-fascist future. This animated short film was created in 1984 and it has been rediscovered as a long-lost Soviet era animated classic. There Will Come Soft Rains, inspired by the Ray Bradbury short story about nuclear war, is a haunting 10-minute animated short film from Uzbekistan about a robot in the future. It just so happens to be set in the year 2026 – no longer the future, now the present. On the morning of December 31, 2026, the robot sets the table and calls for breakfast the whole family. None of them are already alive – after a global catastrophe, only a handful of ashes remain. However, the robot continues to function – it announces that it is time to go to work & school, and in the evening prepares a festive turkey and congratulates everyone on the new year 2027. The title and motif of the story comes from Sara Teasdale's 1918 poem, "There Will Come Soft Rains", which had a post-apocalyptic setting inspired by World War I and was re-interpreted for Bradbury's version. The first video embedded below includes English subtitles - click on [cc]. The second is a cleaned up and colorized version.
