# Delete the license

**DELETE /_license**

When the license expires, your subscription level reverts to Basic.

If the operator privileges feature is enabled, only operator users can use this API.

## Required authorization

* Cluster privileges: `manage`

## Parameters


### Query parameters
- **master_timeout** (string)
  The period to wait for a connection to the master node.
- **timeout** (string)
  The period to wait for a response. If no response is received before the timeout expires, the request fails and returns an error.

- **acknowledged** (boolean)
  For a successful response, this value is always true. On failure, an exception is returned instead.
