Climate Proofing of Two Health Infrastructure Projects: Genomics Centre and Child, Adolescent and Youth Services (CAYS)

Project Objectives

The objective of the assignment was to carry out comprehensive climate proofing for two planned healthcare infrastructure projects — the Genomics Centre and the CAYS facility — in line with the European Commission’s Technical Guidance on the Climate Proofing of Infrastructure (2021–2027).

The service included:

  • Screening both projects for alignment with EU climate neutrality targets (mitigation pillar);
  • Conducting vulnerability and risk assessments related to climate change hazards (adaptation pillar);
  • Identifying potential exposure to climate risks such as heatwaves, flooding, and resource stress;
  • Evaluating design features and operational strategies for climate resilience;
  • Recommending adaptation measures and/or confirming alignment with EU funding requirements.

The final deliverables consisted of two detailed climate proofing reports (one for each project), addressing both pillars (mitigation and adaptation)
