How to use and reset DRYOUT®
If your product contains DRYOUT® Active Moisture-Removal Technology™, these instructions apply regardless of brand or product type unless the manufacturer provides product-specific instructions. Start by clicking the Gear Type below, then follow the Quick Start Guide.

DRYOUT is designed to help remove visible and unseen moisture from electronics, tools, optics, firearms, and other moisture-sensitive hard goods after exposure to moisture. It is not a waterproofing material and does not prevent water from entering gear.

Whenever gear and electronic manufacturer-specific instructions differ from these general instructions, always follow the gear and electronic manufacturer's instructions.

Detailed Instructions
Before you Begin
Moisture can begin damaging gear immediately after exposure.
Proper recovery starts by minimizing additional damage while DRYOUT removes moisture.
Keep these principles in mind:

Power off electronic devices immediately after moisture exposure.

Do not charge wet electronics.
-
Do not intentionally apply direct heat to wet gear.

Remove trapped moisture as soon as practical.
-
Allow sufficient recovery time before returning gear to service.
Step 1- Power Down and Prepare
If your gear contains electronics:
-
Turn the device off immediately.
-
Disconnect external power sources.
-
Remove batteries when the manufacturer permits.
-
Remove memory cards or removable accessories when practical.
Avoid repeatedly turning the device on to test whether it has recovered.
Electrical current flowing through moisture can permanently damage electronic components.

Remove Moisture Traps
Remove anything that may prevent moisture from escaping, including:

Protective phone cases

Tablet covers
-
Laptop sleeves
-
Charging cables
-
Dust covers
-
Lens caps
-
Magazine pouches
-
External accessories
-
Other removable covers
The more exposed the gear is to the DRYOUT material, the more effectively moisture can migrate away from the gear.

Contaminated Gear
If the gear has been exposed to contaminants such as:

Saltwater

Ocean spray
-
Chlorinated water

Mud

Dirty water

Sweat

Coffee

Soda

Sports drinks

Detergent

Sunscreen

Chemicals
follow the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations whenever available before placing the gear into DRYOUT.
Removing contaminants helps reduce long-term corrosion and residue buildup.

Remove Standing Water
Before using DRYOUT:
-
Shake out pooled water whenever appropriate.
-
Wipe away visible moisture using a clean, dry cloth.
-
Do not attempt to completely dry the gear before placing it into DRYOUT.
DRYOUT is designed to remove remaining visible and unseen moisture after standing water has been removed.
Step 2- Place Gear into a DRYOUT-engineered product
Place the gear inside the DRYOUT-enabled product as intended.
General recommendations:

Allow as much exposed surface area as practical.
-
Avoid tightly wrapping gear unless the product is specifically designed to do so.

Avoid stacking multiple pieces of gear together.
-
Close the DRYOUT-enabled product completely.
DRYOUT begins removing moisture automatically once the gear is enclosed.
No electricity, batteries, or activation are required.
Step 3- Allow Sufficient Recovery Time
Recovery time depends on several factors.

Gear Type
Larger or more complex gear generally requires additional recovery time because moisture must migrate farther before being absorbed.

Examples include:

Condensation

Brief exposure to moisture
These situations generally require shorter recovery times.
Rescue (Heavy Exposure)
Examples include:

Heavy rain
-
Significant moisture intrusion

Water splashes

Prolonged exposure

Partial submersion

Full submersion
These situations generally require substantially longer recovery times.​

Ambient Temperature
Warmer environments generally improve moisture-removal performance.
Cold environments slow moisture migration.
Freezing temperatures may temporarily pause moisture movement until the gear warms above freezing.
For this reason, recovery times increase as temperature decreases.

Relative Humidity
High humidity slows moisture removal because less moisture can be released into the surrounding air.
Dry air generally produces faster recovery.
Airflow
Normal airflow around the DRYOUT-enabled product helps moisture leave the DRYOUT material over time.
Completely stagnant environments may increase recovery time.
Contaminants
Additional recovery time may be required following exposure to:

Saltwater

Chlorinated water

Mud
-
Dirt
-
Beverages
-
Chemicals
-
Soap
-
Sunscreen
Contaminants can slow drying and increase the likelihood of corrosion.
When contaminants are present, always allow additional recovery time.
Step 4- Returning Gear to Service
Electronic Devices
Before powering electronics back on:

Complete at least the recommended recovery time.
-
Inspect the device for visible moisture.
-
Verify that charging ports and openings appear dry.
-
Ensure no condensation or fogging remains.
If the device does not function properly after the recommended recovery time:
-
Turn it off immediately.
-
Return it to the DRYOUT-engineered product.
-
Allow additional recovery time before testing again.
Avoid repeatedly cycling power while moisture may still be present.
Non-Electronic Gear
For firearms, optics, tools, knives, and other non-electronic equipment:
Allow at least the recommended recovery time before returning the gear to service or storage.
Before use, inspect for:

Water droplets

Damp residue

Rust

Corrosion

Surface oxidation
If any signs of retained moisture remain, continue recovery before use or storage.
Safety & Limitations
The following guidance applies to all DRYOUT-engineered products unless otherwise specified by the product manufacturer.

Reset DRYOUT after heavy recovery use and before its next recovery use.

Follow the recommended recovery and reset times for your specific DRYOUT-engineered product.

Allow additional recovery or reset time when conditions are cold, humid, or heavily contaminated.
Never

Exceed 185°F (85°C) when resetting DRYOUT.
-
Attempt to reset DRYOUT with gear inside the product.
-
Use a microwave, open flame, grill, stovetop, heat gun, torch, or clothes dryer.
-
Charge or operate electronic devices until the recommended recovery time has been completed.
Best Practices
To maximize DRYOUT performance:

Remove protective cases, covers, or accessories that may trap moisture whenever practical.
-
Place gear into the DRYOUT-engineered product as intended and fully close it during recovery.
-
Fully open the DRYOUT-engineered product during resetting to maximize airflow.
-
When in doubt, allow additional recovery or reset time.
Product Limitations
DRYOUT is designed to help remove moisture from compatible gear. It is not intended to repair damage that has already occurred.
DRYOUT does not:
-
Make gear waterproof.
-
Prevent water from entering gear.
-
Repair damaged electronics or mechanical components.
-
Reverse corrosion that has already occurred.
-
Replace proper cleaning after exposure to saltwater, mud, chemicals, or other contaminants.

Replace manufacturer-recommended maintenance or inspection procedures.
