Convert Images to Exact-Dimension Pixel Art – Pixel Perfect

Pixel Perfect is a web app that transforms regular images into pixel art with exact control over the output.

Unlike many AI-powered pixel art generators that produce oversized or imprecise results, this app focuses on creating genuinely pixel-perfect art that’s suitable for game development and professional design projects.

You can define custom grid dimensions, precisely position and scale their source images, and choose from multiple conversion methods to achieve their desired artistic effect.

Features

  • Custom Grid Dimensions: Set the exact width and height (in pixels) for your output.
  • Precise Image Positioning: Drag and zoom your source image to ensure each grid cell captures the detail you want.
  • Multiple Conversion Methods: Choose the algorithm that best suits your image: Most Used Color, Most Used Color (Prioritize Light/Dark), Average Color, or Neighbor Color.
  • Built-in Editing Tools: Refine your pixel art with a brush, eraser, and magic wand tool.
  • Canvas Zoom & Grid Toggle: Use the Canvas Zoom slider to adjust the view, and toggle grid lines.
  • Export as PNG: Download your finished artwork at your chosen scale.
  • Hotkey Support: Use shortcuts like Ctrl+Z (Undo), Ctrl+Y (Redo), and Alt+B (Toggle Background) for efficient editing.

Installation:

There’s no installation is needed. Download the package and open the ‘index.html’ file in your browser. The code runs directly in the browser without requiring a local development environment.

Usage:

1. Select your desired canvas width and height, then upload your source image. Click “Upload (Next Step).”

2. Position & Convert: Adjust the Preview Size slider to see the grid cells. Use the Zoom slider to scale your image. Drag the image to position it precisely within the grid. Choose a conversion method (e.g., Most Used Color, Average Color). Click “Convert (Next Step).”

3. Edit & Export: Use the brush, eraser, or magic wand tools to refine your pixel art. Adjust the canvas zoom and toggle grid lines as needed. Click the export buttons to download your art as a PNG.
