GRP Anti-Slip Flooring for Safer Industrial Walkways

COBAGRiP GRP Flooring provides durable, anti-slip protection for internal and external areas. Available in GRP sheets, stair treads, stair nosing, grating and decking strips these slip-resistant panels improve safety on walkways, ramps, stairs, and factory floors. Easy to install and corrosion-resistant, they’re ideal for industrial and commercial environments.

Combat The Cold Snap with COBAGRiP®

Slip-related accidents remain one of the highest-ranking causes of non-fatal injuries in a work environment. A simple slip can lead to very serious injury, resulting in working days lost, or in some extreme cases, even fatality.

COBA’s COBAGRiP® GRP flooring range is an ideal solution to combat slip hazards in both public and work environments. GRP anti-slip products can play a huge part in making floor surfaces safer for employees and the public alike.

Our COBAGRiP® range offers a wide choice of products. These include COBAGRiP® Sheet, UV stabilised sheets in both standard and light-duty grades, available in black, grey and yellow. There are also COBAGRiP® Stair Treads in black/yellow and black/white as well as COBAGRiP® Stair Nosing available in yellow for bright colour visibility, meeting DDA requirements.

The COBAGRiP® range can be used both indoors and outdoors and provides excellent anti-slip properties in wet or icy conditions due to its silicon carbide gritted surface. COBAGRiP® can be either glued or screwed to the floor surface, allowing for a hassle-free installation, making it the perfect choice for floors, walkways, and stairways. It also requires little to no maintenance, even when used outdoors.

FAQs of our GRP Range

GRP flooring (short for glass-reinforced plastic) is the type of product that many of us take for granted when we are out and about, or in our place of work. But, believe us, when we say it is everywhere – from railway station stairs and platforms to retail stairs, factory floors and public walkways.

GRP Flooring Applications

There are many applications for our GRP Flooring from internal to external installations:

  • Flooring
    • Our GRP Flooring range of gritted safety products are ideal for a wide range of flooring applications, including indoor and outdoor steps, flat or ramped flooring surfaces.
    • All of the products within the range have been designed to deal with demanding footfall and environments, including natural elements.
    • There is also a lightweight version available of our GRP Sheets, making them ideal for use on roof walkways.
  • Bridges
    • Busy pedestrian bridges require robust, safe flooring that can be easily installed and maintained without disruption.
    • Our GRP Sheets are ideal for use on bridges.
  • Ramps
    • Access ramps, especially those that have smooth concrete, metal or tiled surfaces can be a slip hazard to users. When these flooring materials get wet, icy or oily they can create further safety issues underfoot and for wheeled traffic.
    • The slight gradient of the ramp can also create a risk when there isn’t an appropriate gritty surface in place.
    • GRP Sheets are suitable for preventing slip and fall accidents on ramps in the workplace and in public areas.
  • Walkways
    • Creating anti-slip walkways is important for indoor and outdoor areas which are prone to becoming slippery. Outdoor areas could include walkways, from carparks to buildings, or public walkways between buildings. During the winter months, hazards outdoors can become more prevalent.
    • We recommend reviewing the effectiveness of walkway flooring before the autumn, to ensure key safety measures are in place before seasonal frost sets in.
    • GRP Sheets can also provide slip protection for employees using indoor walkways, which are prone to getting slippery. The gritty surface provides traction underfoot.
  • Platforms
    • Railway platforms can be dangerous places, especially in peak times when passengers are rushing for trains. High levels of pedestrian footfall also mean a higher than average risk of accidents.
    • Also, railway platforms are frequently accessed by stairs and this creates an additional safety hazard. Network Rail statistics for April 2011 – March 2012 reveal that there were almost 1,500 incidents of people slipping at railway stations.
    • Safety underfoot can be enhanced through the installation of COBAGRiP® anti-slip flooring and stair treads/stair nosing. Its ‘gritted’ top surface delivers effective underfoot grip for most footwear even in wet or icy conditions. The fact that COBAGRiP® is so durable makes it ideal for busy pedestrian areas. While the gritted surface provides slip-resistance, it doesn’t inhibit wheeled luggage or trolleys.
    • Our COBAGRiP® stair nosing and stair treads are DDA compliant, due to their high-visibility colours. They are available with bright yellow or white borders, for the visually impaired, and are more visible in low light conditions. These products can be installed easily overnight without affecting any traffic.
  • Aggressive Environments
    • The ideal solution for underfoot safety in challenging environments, due to high durability.
    • They can be installed in areas where chemicals are used, as well as areas effected by natural outdoor elements.
  • Factory Floors
    • Ideal for improving safety underfoot for factory walkways, where oils and liquids are used.
  • Chemical Plants
    • High resistance to most chemicals and solvents.
  • Oil Rigs
    • High level of slip resistance in wet and oily environments.
