Here are some of our favourite websites on climate change and caring for creation:

Climate Change

  • Climate Scientist and Christian, Katharine Hayhoe, has a YouTube channel “Global Weirding” with regular updates on climate news and science.
  • A great website to help with those tricky climate change questions (at easy/medium and hard levels) is Skeptical Science.
  • The John Ray Initiative is a great resource for climate science and also offers a series of free studies on Mission and Creation Care for Christian Disciples. The studies are free to download and use but donations are gratefully received for their work.
  • For help in finding appropriate ways to communicate climate change, head to Climate Outreach’s website which includes helpful resources on communicating climate change to faith groups.
  • Hope for the Future has great resources on speaking up about climate change and template letters for writing to your MP.

Greening your church

  • The Eco Church website contains church surveys, more resources, and all you need to know about registering for Eco Church.
  • The Church of England have published their routemap to Net Zero Carbon by 2030 with resources to help your church. 
  • Many denominations have useful resources about climate change on their websites including the Church of England and the Methodists.
  • A Rocha’s At Your Service website has a searchable catalogue of creation care resources including talks, powerpoints, children’s activities, service plans etc.
  • The Season of Creation runs from 1st September to 4th October. Their website has lots of liturgical and other resources.
  • The Sustainable Preaching website contains weekly ideas for preaching based on the Anglican Lectionary.
  • Doxecology is a new album of worship songs celebrating the wonder of creation. There is also a study guide and service plans.
  • Operation Noah have a section of useful climate change resources on their website.
  • Christian Aid, USPG, Cafod and Tearfund all have lots of resources for adults and children on the impacts of climate change on our global neighbours.
  • If your church is considering switching to renewable energy, check out the Parish Buying website. You are likely to save money as well as the planet!
  • Green Christian have lots of practical ideas on their website.
  • The Faith for the Climate network has loads more useful links and resources.
  • The Church of England has an excellent web page of advice, resources and case studies on Outdoor Worship.

Boosting Biodiversity

  • Caring for God’s Acre offers a great range of support, advice and online resources.
  • Local Wildlife Trusts are often keen to support and work with churches on caring for their churchyards.
  • Living Churchyards in collaboration with your local Wildlife Trust shows you how to make your churchyard welcome to a variety of bugs, birds and other animals.
