As just one spin of “High Steppas” renders clear, disco never died.

The potent reminder is Kyle Kinch’s first release of the year and comes courtesy of volume 21 of Club Sweat’s Workout Series. The tight compilation of tunes to soundtrack body work also includes submissions from Beth (“Fig Tree”), Sunday Noise and AbueKev (“Hit & Fire”), and Gui Wittckind (“Lestalk”).

It’s not Kinch’s first time dabbling in disco house, and his take on the hybrid is as well-heeled as ever. Steeped in ‘80s funk accented by disco stabs, “High Steppas” has a vitality that recommends the record for heart-rate-rising workouts and mirrorball-lit dance floor play alike. It’s fitting, then, that the song’s promo features a sweatband sporting, color block sweatsuit-clad Kinch jogging on the treadmill and lifting weights — an apropos initiation to Club Sweat.

The latest from one of house music’s own high-steppers is out now via Club SweatBuy it on Beatport.
