(18th August)Core Release 11K - now available!
Dear Amiga and Vampire fans,
after a year of intensive development, the time has come: The new Core Release 11K is ready and waiting for you to explore.

Whats new?
Even greater game compatibility - many classics now run more smoothly. Enhanced CRT look & feel - retro visuals like back in the day, only better. Optimised de-interlacer/flicker fixer - perfect display even for old interlaced modes. More flexible CPU speed - 4 modes: A2000, A1200+, A4000 or full throttle - making many old games run significantly better. FPU upgrade - improved compatibility and faster execution of commands like FADD & FSQRT. More CPU power - noticeable in video playback and demanding games like Robin Hood.

Graphics & technology Maggie 3D: faster texture mapping performance, new features & alpha-blending modes. New screen modes & Super-AGA DMA with 256-bit bursts for maximum performance.

ROM & system improvements Action Replay debugger integrated - perfect for coding or game hacking. Boot from SD port now possible in addition to CF. Save your settings - SAGA or CRT mode can now be set via software, no jumper required. IDE drivers now support CD-ROM, multiple drives and controllers (e.g. IDE on A600 mainboard + IDE on Manticore).

Installation recommendations Best performance with APOLLO-OS 9.5 or Coffin #64. For older OS versions, be sure to update APOLLOMAP and APOLLOFLASH. Please remove the jumper for Super-AGA/CRT - switching will be handled by software (tool coming soon).

Conclusion: Core Release 11K is the most comprehensive and powerful update ever - built for everyone who wants to get the absolute maximum from their Amiga or Vampire system.
(14th August)Meet the Muschuschu
Muschuschu is the name of a Babylonian Dragon. As you might know all our cards or Releases are named after Fantasy creatures.

Muschuschu is mascot of our new CPU upgrade. As you know the 68080 CPU is the world's most advanced and powerful 68K family CPU. The CPU is the "brain" of the computer, all programs consist of "instructions". The purpose of a CPU is to execute/run these instructions.

How does a CPU functions? A CPU has a instruction cache from which feeds to the CPU with instructions. The instruction Cache of the 68080 can provide up to 8 instructions each clock cycle. Then a CPU has so called "instruction decoders". The task of a decoder is to decode (understand) the instructions/commands and then manage/decode/schedule how many can be executed simultaneously per single clock cycle. The instructions are then scheduled/given to the "execution units", their job is to execute the instruction/ dot he calcaluations etc. The 68080 CPU has a whopping total of 11 execution units.

For many years, the 68080 had two instruction decoders, each decoder which could decode a pair of instructions. This 2x2 design allowed the CPU to execute up to 4 instructions per clock at maximum speed.

Our "Muschuschu" Upgrade does improved this even more now! The 68080 CPU now has 3 instruction decoders, each of which is able to decode up to a pair of instructions and can send them to the execution units. This improvement brings our maximum speed to an impressive 2x3 = 6 instructions per clock cycle.

Isn't that great?

Your Amiga will not only get faster with this upgrade, and the best is this upgrade is completely FREE.

(9th Septembre 2023) Alpha Preview of Apollo version of 'Robin Hood'

This game is truly one of the best adventure games out there - especially if you are a fan of Robin Hood. This is 2D graphics at its finest - the zenith of what 'old games' have to offer in terms of beauty. Everything is highly detailed, and you feel immersed into medieval England as you sneak into multiple, populated castles and cities and use tactical maneuvers to get past guards. The game also has a nice ambushing system where you boost your economy by laying traps and intercepting armed supply caravans.
Lastly, the combat is fairly awesome too, with Robin slashing his sword in the direction you move your mouse. 10/10 would definitely recommend if you love slow paced games with flair and character.
The current MAC and PC versions of the game have pretty high requirements of minimum 512 MB memory and 1000 MHz CPU. The true Spirit of Amiga is to use the combination of good coding on the coder friendly 68K CPU combined with using the DMA features of the smart Amiga chipset.
Using this combination of good coding and Amiga Chipset the Amiga could always achieve great games - where you needed a much higher clock PC to do the same. The Amiga port of Robin Hood does follow this 'Only Amiga makes it possible' Spirit again - and shows what you can do with 68K AMMX coding and using the DMA of the Super-AGA chipset.
