If the horse still has his winter coat (as in you haven't clipped it off) and they have free-choice access to grass or grass hay, ad they can run around to warm up, they can be comfortable in 30 degrees below 0 Fahrenheit, and they can stand much colder. If you give the horse a run-in shelter to protect from rain and wind, they are even better off. So give your horse the option, and he will decide what is too cold for him.

They can't go in the mud in the winter because either the ground's too frozen solid to have any mud, or the mud is much too cold for them to be wallowing in. Even so, most pigs are housed indoors in the winter anyway, especially those that live where snow and cold predominates the landscape for almost half the year.

We can't really tell the exact temperature . But the winters there are pretty cold because they are moderated on the pacific ocean.
