The letters th are added to cardinal numbers to make them ordinal, or to form fractional parts, and in some cases changes the spelling :

four --> fourth

fourteen --> fourteenth

five --> fifth

fifteen --> fifteenth

Ordinals ending in 1 use st instead (1st), ending in 2 use nd (2nd), ending in 3 use rd (3rd):

one --> first

thirty-one --> thirty-first

two --> second

forty-two --> forty-second

three --> third

sixty-three --> sixty-third

*The number forms cannot be used to represent fractions (e.g. 4th, 6th, 8th).

1/4 = one-fourth, 3/5 = three-fifths, 7/8 = seven-eighths, 12/19 = twelve-nineteenths
