Historically, members of the parrot family have been native to all continents except Europe and Antarctica. The native Carolina Parakeet was exterminated in the US, declining with the destruction of the great Eastern forests in the 19th Century, but parrots are still found in Central America, which is technically part of the North American continent, as well as Africa, Asia, Australasia and South America.
