The proposed fault classification method is extensively tested on a 500 kV, 60 Hz transmission line of 300 kM length connected between two sources as shown in Fig.1.In order to show the degree of acceptance of the approach to identify the type of faults, power system modeled as in [1] is used for the simulation studies. The parameters of the system under consideration are listed in Appendix-I and assumed the same network configuration.
