One of the difficulties in the theoretical work was the problem of trying to com- pute just how fast a drop would grow by collision with the smaller drops in its path. The computation would have been a simple one were it not that some of the smaller drops, even though they were directly in the path of the approaching large drop, were swept com- pletely around the large drop (Fig. 7) by the air stream.
