The apparatus is composed of an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) deuteron ion source, a low energy beam transport (LEBT) line, a mini-vane 4-rod RFQ accelerator, a high energy beam transport (HEBT) line and a beryl- lium target, as shown in Fig. 1. The 201.5 MHz 4-rod RFQ accelerates 25mA Dt from 50keV to 2MeV with ~60% transmission.!7) It has been tested for pulsed output beam currents <12mA. Up to 300kW of pulsed RF power from the 201.5 MHz RF system is coupled into the RFQ, inclu- ding 50kW for the deuteron beam. The input beam current is changed from 0 to 50mA around the design value 35mA. The transmission efficiency decli- nes very slowly, as the beam current increases. Even, at 50mA the transmission efficiency is still as high as 90.7%.
