This is the fourth volume of 'We are Learning Turkish' (Türkçe Öğreniyoruz), a complete course in Turkish that comprises four volumes. Each volume has 10 chapters that aim to help students understand, write, read and speak the Turkish language through a step-by-step approach.

Bir insanın gerek ana dilinde gerekse sonradan öğrendiği yabancı bir dilde kendini ifade edebilmesi, yeni bilgiler öğrenebilmesi, üretebilmesi ve dil vasıtasıyla iletişim kurabilmesi için yeterli kelime bilgisine sahip olması gerekmektedir. Bu nedenle dil eğitimi ve öğretimi çalışmalarının temeli, esasen bireylerin kelime hazinesinin yeterli bir düzeye ulaştırılması hedefine dayanır. Özellikle yabancı dil öğretimi çalışmaları, dil öğrenen birey kelime hazinesi bakımından yeterli düzeye gelmeden ilerleme kaydedemez. Bu çalışmanın amacı dilin yapı taşı konumunda olan ve dil eğitimi ve öğretiminde dil becerilerinin temelini oluşturan kelime kavramı ile ilişkili kelime hazinesi, kelime bilgisi ve kelime öğretimi konularında detaylı kuramsal bilgi sunmak, ayrıca yabancı dilde kelime öğretimi çalışmalarında dikkat edilmesi ve yapılması gerekenlerle ilgili çeşitli önerilerde bulunmaktır. Bu doğrultuda geniş bir alan yazın taraması gerçekleştirilmiş ve elde edilen bilgiler araştırmacının dil öğretim sahasındaki tecrübelerinden de yararlanılarak yabancı dilde kelime öğretirken dikkate alınabilecek şekilde pratik önerilere dönüştürülmüştür. Bu çalışmada, kelime hazinesi, alıcı ve üretici kelime hazinesi, kelime bilgisi ve boyutları, kelime öğretiminin amacı, dolaylı ve doğrudan kelime öğretimi ile bu yöntemlerin avantaj ve sınırlılıkları, kelime öğretimi sırasında dikkat edilmesi gerekenler ve yabancı dil öğretiminde bir kelimenin anlam boyutlarının açıklanması sırasında öğreticiler tarafından izlenecek adımlar ile kullanılabilecek stratejiler ilgili bilgiler yer almaktadır. Burada yer verilen kuramsal bilgi ve önerilerin hem araştırmacılara hem de dil öğreticilerine faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir.

Yabancı dil öğretiminin tarihi boyunca dilin nasıl öğretileceği daima tartışma konusu olmuştur. Bu sebeple süreç boyunca birçok farklı yöntem geliştirilmiş ve kullanılmıştır. Dil öğretiminde yöntem, öğrenciyi eğitimin amaçlarına en çabuk ve en güvenilir olarak ulaştıracak olan bir öğretim unsurudur. Yabancı dil öğretiminde kullanılagelen yöntemler, genel itibariyle, kullanılmakta olan bir yöntemin eksikliklerini veya yetersiz kaldığı noktaları kapatmak amacıyla ortaya çıkmış, bu çabalar yabancı dilin daha iyi öğretimine katkı sağladığı gibi, bu alana alternatif yöntemler kazandırmıştır. Fakat günümüzde varılan noktada mükemmeliyete ulaşmış bir yöntemin varlığından söz edilemeyeceği anlaşılmaktadır. Yabancı dil öğretiminde var olan yöntemlerin çeşitliliği, dil öğretiminde hangi yöntemlerin daha etkili olduğu sorununu da beraberinde getirmektedir. Bu yöntemleri öğretim sürecinde etkin bir biçimde uygulayabilmek için yöntemlerin temel prensiplerini, sınırlarını, özelliklerini ve eksik yönlerini bilmek gerekir. Yabancı dil öğretim yöntemlerinin geliştirildiği yerler yurtdışında olduğu ve yöntemler hakkındaki bilgiler yabancı kaynaklardan edinildiği için, çevirilerin ve ikincil/üçüncül kaynakların kullanımı zorunlu olmaktadır. Ayrıca yalnızca yöntemlerin uygulama ortamlarında gözlemle edinilebilecek bilgiler de Türkçe kaynaklarda yeterli derecede bulunmamaktadır. Çalışmanın odaklandığı husus olan " yöntemlerin temel ilke ve kullanım özellikleri " hakkında yabancı dil öğretim yöntemleri ile ilgili Türkçe olarak yayınlanmış çeşitli kaynaklarda farklı, eksik ya da diğer kaynaklarla uyuşmayan bilgilere rastlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada bilgilerin incelenerek ilgili başlıklardaki uyuşmazlıkların, eksikliklerin ve farklılıkların belirlenip giderilmesi ve bilgilerin bir çalışma altında toplanması amaçlanmıştır.

"The present study explores the ways in which the Greek-speaking learners of Turkish can best internalize and consequently use the evidential marker –mIş in their interlanguage. Turkish encodes evidentiality by the verbal suffix –mIş, which is a semantically broad and highly debated phenomenon (Slobin and Aksu, 1982; Johanson, 2003; Uzun, 2004; Gül, 2009; among many others). Greek lacks the grammatical category of evidentiality; when necessary, it makes use of lexical expressions such as όpos akústike/maθèftike/lèγete etc. (it has been heard/known/said) (Ifantidou, 2001), the impersonal modal verb prèpei (must) followed by a complement clause in the subjunctive (Holton et al., 2012) or the particle lèi (one says) meaning ‘reportedly, allegedly’ (Friedman, 2003), expressing the speaker’s hedging, doubt, and attitude to information. On the basis of a ten-year teaching experience, we identified that the lack of the grammatical category of evidentiality in Greek, along with the broad scope of –mIş itself, is the source of major difficulty for the Greek-speaking learners of Turkish. The study revolves about three axes. Firstly, it presents the relevant discussion on –mIş and determines what should be included in its description in terms of learning and teaching Turkish as a foreign language. It then continues with the presentation and analysis of the (false) conclusions about –mIş reached by the Greek-speaking learners of Turkish, obtained through a test applied to learners of Turkish in the Department of Mediterranean Studies. Finally, the study suggests some directions for continuing the inquiry in designing materials in the teaching of  –mIş to foreign learners of Turkish.

Özet: Bu çalışmada Türkçe öğrenen ve anadili Yunanca olan öğrencilerin –mIş tanıtsallık belirticisini kendi aradillerinde en iyi şekilde içselleştirmelerinin ve kullanmalarının yolları araştırılmaktadır. Türkçede tanıtsallık, anlamsal olarak oldukça kapsamlı ve bugüne kadar çok tartışılan bir olgu olan –mIş eki (Slobin ve Aksu, 1982; Johanson, 2003; Uzun, 2004; Gül, 2009; ve diğerleri) ile kodlanırken, Yunancada tanıtsallık dilbilgisel ulamı bulunmamaktadır. Gerektiğinde, tanıtsallık όpos akústike/maθèftike/lèγete (duyulduğuna / öğrenildiğine / söylendiğine göre) gibi sözlüksel ifadelerle (Ifantidou, 2001), arkasından istek kipinde çekimli bir yantümce gelen kişisiz eylem πρέπει (zorunda olmak) ile (Holton et al., 2012), ya da konuşmacının bilgiye karşı tutumunu, şüphesini ya da kaçınmasını ifade eden ve  “iddia edildiğine göre, söylendiğine göre” (Friedman, 2003),  anlamlarını içeren bir parçacık olan λέει (diyor) ile ifade edilir. On yıllık öğretim deneyimine dayanarak, Yunancada tanıtsallık dilbilgisel ulamının bulunmamasının, -mIş ekinin geniş kapsamı ile birlikte Türkçe öğrenen ve anadili Yunanca olan öğrenciler için büyük bir zorluk kaynağı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Buna dayanarak, çalışma üç eksen etrafında yürütülmüştür. Öncelikle, -mIş ile ilgili tartışmalara değinilmiş ve Türkçe yabancı dil olarak öğretilirken öğreniminde ve öğretiminde –mIş tanımının neleri içermesi gerektiği üzerinde durulmuştur.  Daha sonra, Akdeniz İncelemeleri Bölümü’ndeki Türkçe öğrencilerine uygulanan bir test sonucu, anadili Yunanca olan öğrencilerin -mIş hakkındaki  (yanlış) kanıları saptanmıştır. Son olarak, çalışmada Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde  –mIş hakkında materyal hazırlarken göz önünde bulundurulması gereken noktalara dikkat çekilmiştir. "

Özet Son zamanlarda alandaki öğretmen açığını kapamak için açılan Yabancı Dil Olarak Türkçe Öğretimi Sertifika Programlarının sayısının aratması üzerine dikkatler bu kurslara yoğunlaşmıştır. Çalışmada öncelikle ülkemizin yabancı dil öğretmeni yetiştirme geçmişi anlatılmış ve yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretmen açığının ortaya çıkış nedenleri ve sonuçları üzerinde durulmuştur. Açılan sertifika programları özellikle eğitim şekilleri belirlenip uzaktan eğitim konusu aydınlatılmıştır. Daha sonra yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretmen yeterlikleri ortaya konularak kurslar bu yeterlikleri kazandırma açısından incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda kurslara yöneltilen eleştirilerin acımasız olduğu, daha insaflıca yapılması gerektiği işlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Programların iyi yönde geliştiğinin ipuçları verilmiştir.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, anadili Yunanca olan yetişkinler için hazırladığımız orta düzey Türkçe okuma kitabının hazırlanma sürecini anlatmaktır. Bununla birlikte, kitabın hazırlanma sürecinde temel alınan kuramsal çerçeve de ayrıntılarıyla ele alınacaktır. Bu amaçla, bu bildiride öncelikle neden bir okuma kitabı hazırladığımız sorusu yanıtlanacak ve daha sonra, bu kitabın neden B2 seviyesinde bir okuma kitabı olduğundan söz edilecektir. Daha sonra ise, okuma süreci genel olarak ele alındıktan sonra yabancı dilde okuma sürecine değinilecektir. Bir sonraki bölümde, kitabın hedefleri belirlenerek bu hedefler içinde yer alan etkili okuyucu profilinden, sözvarlığının geliştirilmesinin öneminden ve okuma stratejileri ve anlama türlerinin neler olduğundan söz edilecektir. Son bölümde ise, kitabın türü ve içeriği ele alınacak ve kitapta ne tür okuma etkinliklerinin yer aldığı anlatılacaktır.

A number of studies are run about “teaching Turkish as second language” on different topics. While some of studies respond the needs, there is still a long way in front of the people who are teaching Turkish as second language. As known, human beings were born in a language. Our world view is shaped with this language while gives shape to the language. Humans understand himself and rest of the world in the border of their language. Every language evaluates the world from its point of view and reacts this point of view to sentences, words and endings if any. As an agglutinative language in Turkish, the suffixes have such a big importance. Particularly for teaching Turkish as second language some suffixes gets more important. One of the important suffix categories is case suffixes. The aim of this paper is to determine and then discuss the students’mistakes who are learning Turkish at Level B while using noun cases in their writings. Qualitative research method is used in this study. The sample group consists of 34 B1 level students learning Turkish at SOAS and London Yunus Emre Culture Centre. The data was taken from students’ writings and analyzed by content analysis. In this study, it is determined that the students misuse or make mistake the “accusative” and “dative” cases at most. The most used case suffix is “locative”, the least used is “equality” and “instrumental”. The paper will be ended with some important suggestions due to the results of this study.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenen C1 düzeyi öğrencilerinin kavram haritaları aracılığıyla okuduğunu anlama becerilerinin geliştirilmesidir. Araştırma kavram haritalama tekniğinin uygulanma sürecini ortaya koymayı amaçladığı için eylem araştırması olarak düzenlenmiştir.
Araştırma, 20.05.2014-10.07.2014 tarihleri arasında olmak üzere toplam 8 hafta sürmüş ve Fatih Üniversitesi TÖMER’de 11 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada okuduğunu anlama stratejilerinden tahmin etme, soru üretme ve özetlemenin öğretimi kavram haritaları yardımıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma verileri video ve ses kayıtları, yansıtıcı günlük, öğrenci günlüğü, öğrenci çalışmaları, gözlem, strateji değerlendirme yaprakları ve okuduğunu anlama başarı testi olmak üzere çeşitli nitel ve nicel veri toplama araçlarıyla elde edilmiştir.
Araştırma sekiz hafta boyunca, haftada iki gün dörder saat olacak şekilde planlanıp uygulanmıştır. Araştırmacı, stratejilerin öğretimini model olma yoluyla gerçekleştirmiş, ardından öğrencilerin bağımsız kullanıcılar olabilmeleri için ortam sağlamıştır. İki kez düzenlenen grup çalışması etkinlikleri ile öğrencilerin öğrenilen stratejileri kavram haritaları
ile kullanmaları ve akran dayanışması-değerlendirmesi ile anlamlı öğrenmenin gerçekleştirilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Etkileşimli öğrenme ortamının, öğrencilerin öğrenmelerine olumlu katkıda bulunduğu görülmüştür.
Nicel verilerin analizi SPSS for Windows programıyla, nitel verilerin analizi ise içerik analiziyle yapılmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizinde MAXQDA for Windows programından da
yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel analizleri sonucunda öğrencilerin okuduğunu anlama becerilerinin geliştiği görülmüştür. Nitel verilerden elde edilen bulgular ise okuduğunu anlama stratejilerinin kavram haritalama tekniğinden yararlanılarak öğretimi sonucunda
öğrencilerin tahmin etme, soru üretme ve özetleme becerilerinde gelişim gösterdiklerini ortaya koymuştur.
Araştırmada ürün ve süreç temelli değerlendirmelerin yapılmasının etkili olduğu gözlenmiştir. Strateji değerlendirme yapraklarının kullanımı, grup çalışmalarının düzenlenmesi, öğrenci çalışmalarının incelenmesi ve bunlarla ilgili öğrencilere dönütler verilmesi, öğrenci yanlışlarının azalmasına yardımcı olmuştur. Kavram haritalama tekniğinin öğrencilerin derse katılımlarını olumlu etkilediği ve anlamlı öğrenme sağladığı görülmüştür.
Uygulama boyunca her dersle ilgili toplanan öğrenci günlükleri ve uygulama sonunda gerçekleştirilen öğrenci görüşlerinden elde edilen bulgulara göre öğrencilerin kavram haritalama tekniği ile işlenen dersleri çok etkileyici ve eğlenceli buldukları, uygulama boyunca kullanılan strateji ve teknikleri beğendikleri, eğitim hayatları boyunca bu strateji ve tekniklerden yararlanmak istedikleri tespit edilmiştir.

Diller İçin Avrupa Ortak Öneriler Çerçevesi’nde yabancı dil öğretiminde temel amaçlardan biri olarak iletişimsel yetinin geliştirilmesi yönünde çalışmalar yapılması yer almaktadır. Bundan dolayı farklı kültürden insanların uygun biçimde iletişim kurarak birbirlerine yakınlaşmaları, karşılıklı anlayış içinde bir arada yaşamaları üst amaç olarak benimsenmiştir.
Dil kullanımının sosyal boyutuyla başa çıkmak için gerekli olan toplumdilbilgisel yeterlikler içinde dua ve bedduaların öğretilmesi kültürlerarası iletişim açısından son derece önemlidir.
Bu güne kadar Yabancı Dil Türkçe öğretiminde işlenmemiş bir konu olan ‘dua ve beddualar’ öncelikle dilbilgisel yapıları ile ele alınacak daha sonra bunların derslerde öğretimi üzerine örneklendirmeler yapılacaktır: Türkçe’nin ve Türk kültürünün yabancılara öğretilmesi/aktarılması/tanıtılması amacıyla, çağdaş yöntemsel yönelişlerin ışığı altında, farklı alıştırma modellerinin bu konuya uygulanmasına çalışılacaktır.

The Callan method is a method that aims to develop students' target language speaking skills by having them answer questions fluently and accurately. It was developed to teach a target language rapidly and effectively. In this study, the effect of the method on students' ability to use the target language fluently and accurately in teaching Turkish as a foreign language was investigated. The research was designed as a case study. The study group consisted of 18 students from 13 countries who were learning Turkish at the TÖMER center in the 2015-2016 academic year. The Callan method was used to enable the students to talk at the A2 and B1 levels and to correct their mistakes while speaking at the B2 and C1 levels. Verbally answering questions following reading texts and speaking about the topic being covered were the activities in which the method was used. The results revealed that that the students' rapid response and question asking skills at the A2 and B1 levels, and fluent speaking and accurate word pronunciation skills at the B2 and C1 levels improved. Öz Callan Yöntemi, öğrencilerin doğru ve akıcı konuşma becerilerini geliştirmek için hedef dili kullanarak sorulara akıcı ve doğru cevap vermelerini amaçlayan bir yöntemdir. Hedef dilin hızlı ve etkili bir şekilde öğretilmesi için geliştirilmiştir. Bu araştırmada bu yöntemin Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde akıcı ve doğru konuşma becerisi üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Çalışma, eylem araştırması olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2015-2016 akademik yılında TÖMER'de Türkçe öğrenen 13 farklı ülkeden gelen 18 uluslararası öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. A2 ve B1 kurlarında öğrencileri konuşturmak, B2 ve C1 kurlarında konuşma hatalarını düzeltmek için Callan Yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Okuma metinlerine bağlı soruları yanıtlama ve işlenen konuyla ilgili öğrencileri konuşturma etkinlikleri 1 Bu çalışma, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Bilimsel Araştırma Projeleri tarafından desteklenmiştir.

Bu çalışmada Geniş Zamanın farklı kullanımları ile bu kullanımların Çağdaş Yunancadaki karşılıkları karşılaştırmalı bir şekilde ele alınmaktadır. Daha ayrıntılı olarak, Geniş Zamanın Çağdaş Yunancada Şimdiki Zaman (Enestotas) ve Gelecek Zaman ile (Mellondas) kodlandığı bağlamları incelemektedir. Türkçe öğrenen Yunanca konuşucuların başlangıç seviyesinde Geniş Zamanı öğrenirken büyük zorluk yaşadıkları saptanmıştır. Geniş Zamanı öğrenirken yaşanan bu zorluğun nedenlerinden biri olarak Çağdaş Yunancada Geniş Zamana eşdeğer bir eylem biçiminin bulunmaması varsayılmaktadır. Bu varsayım Aegean Üniveristesi Akdeniz İncelemeleri Bölümünde Türkçe başlangıç ve orta düzey öğrencilerine uygulanan testin bulgularıyla da desteklenmektedir. Çalışmadaki amaç Geniş Zamanın, Türkçe öğrenen ve Yunanca gibi Geniş Zamana eşdeğer bir eylem biçimi bulunmayan diğer dillerin konuşucularına öğretilirken özellikle dikkat edilmesi gereken çok işlevli bir eylem biçimi olduğunu ortaya çıkarmaktır. Ayrıca, çalışmanın sonunda Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak öğreten öğretmenlere öğretim materyallerini hazırlarken Geniş Zamanın bu çok işlevlilik özelliğini dikkate almaları önerilmektedir.

Gerek Türkçenin gerekse de başka dillerin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde karşılaşılan en temel güçlüklerden biri "konuşma becerisi"nin geliştirilmesidir. Yıllarca yabancı dil öğrenen birçok kişinin "Bunca yıl emek harcadıktan sonra yabancı arkadaşlarımla lokantada yemek yerken 'Tuzu uzatır mısınız?' diyemedim." dediğini duyarız. Ya da yabancı dil öğrenmek üzere dil okullarına başvuran birçok öğrencinin "Benim okumam, yazmam iyi de konuşmam kötü; buna yönelik bir sınıfınız var mı?" diye sorduğu sıkça karşılaştığımız bir durumdur.

When viewing the Turkish learners who study Turkish as a foreign language, it is seen that majority of them consist of Turkish ancestors. Therefor, the reason for their learning Turkish and the difficulties encountered during the learning process of Turkish and the investigation of the views on Turkish, will provide a realistic and a demanding Schedule. The purpose of this researchis to determine the opinions of Afghan Uzbek Turks on Turkish spoken in Turkey. In this study, which is designed by qualitative research, semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool. According to the results of research, it is determined that the students have a particular tendency towards Turkey and Turkish spoken in Turkey and this stiuation results form the historical, politicalfriendship, smilarity of language, religion and culture with the family support.

Bir dili diğer dillerden ayıran, dile renk katan, kısa ve öz söyleyiş özellikleri kazandıran ve o dili öğrenenlere de mutlaka kazandırılması gereken bazı dil yapıları vardır. Kalıp ifade dediğimiz bu yapılar, tanışma esnasında, günlük hayat içindeki çeşitli anlarda veya alanlarda, selamlaşmada, birini kutlamada veya dilek ve temenni bildirme gibi pek çok durumda kullanılmaktadır. Bu bakımdan yabancı dil öğrenenler o dilde iletişim kurabilmek için bu yapılara mutlaka sahip olmalıdır. Bu çalışma hayatımızın her alanında sıkça kullandığımız kalıplaşmış sözlerin bir tasnifini yapmak, B2 seviyesindeki yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenenlerin kalıp ifadeleri ne denli kazandıklarını belirlemek, verilerin sonuçlarına dayanarak Avrupa Dilleri Ortak Çerçeve Metni doğrultusunda kazanım-seviye analizini yapmak ve kalıp ifadelerin öğretimi konusunda Türkçe öğrenen ve öğretenlere öneriler sunmak amacı ile hazırlanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarının, öğrencilerin seviyelerine uygun kalıplaşmış ifadelerin ilişkilendirilebileceği kazanımlara ışık tutacağı ve bu konuda çalışmalar yapan kurum ve kuruluşlara yol göstereceği düşünülmektedir. Betimsel tarama modelindeki çalışmanın evreni yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenen B2 seviyesindeki öğrencilerdir. Örneklem random olarak seçilmiş toplam 50 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın verilerini elde etmek için test formatında " kalıplaşmış ifade durumları testi " hazırlanmış ve öğrencilere uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler tablolaştırılarak çeşitli başlıklar altında incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonunda ortaya çıkan bulgulardan hareketle kalıplaşmış ifadelerin öğretimi konusunda yapılması gerekenlerle ilgili önerilere yer verilmiştir.

v Küreselleşen dünyada ekonomi ve teknoloji alanındaki gelişmeler en az bir yabancı dil bilmeyi zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Hatta iyi bir işte çalışabilmek için birden fazla yabancı dili iyi derecede konuşmak gerekmektedir. Avrupa Komisyonunun yaptığı bir araştırmaya göre, Avrupalıların yarısından çoğu (% 53) işinde bir yabancı dile ihtiyaç duymakta ve % 45'i de bildikleri yabancı dil sayesinde ülkelerinde daha iyi iş bulabildiklerini söylemektedirler. İki dilli ya da çok dilli olmak, kişilerin kültürlerarası iletişim, küresel farkındalık, akademik gelişim gibi alanlarda da başarılı olmalarında etkili olmaktadır. Tüm bu nedenlerden dolayı yabancı dil eğitimi birçok ülkede önem kazanmış ve erken yaşlarda dil öğretimine başlanmıştır. Araştırmalara göre Avrupalıların yarısından fazlası (%54) anadiline ek olarak en az bir yabancı dil konuşabilmekte, % 25'i en az iki yabancı dil ve %10'u ise en az üç yabancı dil bilmektedir.

The purpose of this study is to measure the efficiency of teaching learners of Turkish as a foreign language, through television series, the proverbs and idioms which can be considered important socio-cultural instruments in terms of the lifelong learning approach. An experimental pattern with pre-test and post-test experiment-control groups are used in this study. The research data were obtained from 137 foreign students at B2 level who study at Fatih University TOMER and Gazi University TOMER. Using the responses of the students to the pre-test and post-test questions, their competence of using proverbs and idioms was examined. It was observed that while the level of success of the experiment group and control group was equal before watching the films, the experiment group's level of success increased after watching them. These findings suggest that this practice is more successful than the classical method of teaching proverbs and idioms.

In Indo-European languages, with few exceptions, reiteratives, or twice repeated words (hendiadyoin), are not a common or an important part of speech: But in Turkish, especially in spoken language, twice repeated words are frequently used to give force to an account, to strengthen meaning, and enrich concepts. In view of this, the importance of focusing on reiteratives, or twice repeated words, in Turkish as a foreign language courses cannot be denied. In the context of the Common European Framework for Languages Recommendations supporting developing European Language Political Communication Goals located under the heading of "The development of suitable methods and materials" it is essential to explore the topic of twice repeated words, or reiteratives and to provide class materials on this topic. In the previously stated framework, this meets the requirement ": "To develop a sound foundation In order to meet linguistic qualifications." Our work on teaching twice repeated word in Turkish as a Foreign Language courses aims to emphasize the necessity and benefits of teaching reiteratives by giving a variety of examples: some in the text of my paper, classroom applications, and research models, with the focus on integrating all the tools of education. Examples and types of Turkish reiteratives will be given. Moreover, there is an survey for teachers of Turkish as a foreign language from the viewpoint and application of this topic. The use and teaching of twice repeated words will accelerate four basic language abilities. In connection with this intention, numerous examples of the teaching of reiteratives will be provided.

Hint-Avrupa dillerinde kimi yansıma sözcükler dışında hemen hemen hiç başvurulmayan, ama Türkçede özellikle sözlü dilde sık kullanılan ikilemeler, anlatımı güçlendirir, anlamı pekiştirir ve kavramı zenginleştirir. Bu durumda yabancı dil olarak Türkçe derslerinde bu güne dek üzerinde pek durulmayan ikileme öğretiminin önemi yadsınamaz bir gerçeklik olarak karşımıza çıkar. Diller için Avrupa Ortak Öneriler Çerçevesi’nin dayanaklarını oluşturan Avrupa Konseyi’nin Dil Politikasına İlişkin Amaçları’nda Genel Önlemler başlığı altında yer alan dil öğretiminde “Uygun yöntem ve materyallerin geliştirilmesi” ikileme konusunun irdelenmesini ve bu konuda ders materyalleri hazırlanmasını gerektirmektedir. Böylece adı geçen çerçevede belirtilen “Dilsel niteliklerin karşılıklı tanınması için sağlam bir zemin oluşturmak” ilkesine katkı sağlanabilir. Çalışmamız ikilemelerin yabancı dil olarak Türkçe derslerinde öğretilmesinin gerekliliğini ve yararlarını çeşitli örnekler vererek vurgulamayı amaçlamaktadır: İkilemeleri metin içinde, derslerde sırası geldikçe öğretilen sözcükler olmaktan çıkarma ve uygun alıştırma modelleriyle bir bütün olarak eğitimde kullanılma üzerine odaklanmıştır. Dört temel dil becerisine bir ivme kazandıracak ikilemeler, kullanım sıklıkları göz önünde bulundurularak yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde kullanılabilirler. Bu bağlamda ikileme öğretimine yönelik birçok örnek sunulmuştur.

Avrupa Dilleri Öğretimi Ortak Çerçeve Programı’nda yabancı dil dersleri salt dilsel bilgilerin değil kültürlerin karşılaştırıldığı bir alan olarak görülmektedir. Bu bağlamda Türk atasözleri kültürel aktarımın gerçekleştirilmesi için yabancı dil Türkçe derslerinde kullanılabilir.
Çalışmada yabancı dil Türkçe kitaplarının ve öğretmenlerinin atasözleri konusunda tutum ve davranışları irdelenecek ve daha sonra Kültürlerarası-Bildirişim Odaklı Yaklaşım’la Türk atasözlerinin yabancı dil derslerinde nasıl öğretilebileceği üzerine örneklendirmeler yapılacaktır.

Speaking is viewed as a skill more often used in communication and interaction in particular. However, the speaking skill is measured in various ways. The aim of this study is, therefore, to determine the views of Turkish as a Foreign Language (TFL) instructors (lecturers and teachers) on measuring and evaluating speaking skills. To this end, the research data were obtained with the help of 51 TFL instructors who volunteered to fill out a semi-structured interview form titled “Instructors’ Views on the Assessment and Evaluation of the Speaking Skill in Turkish as a Foreign Language” created as a Google Docs form. The obtained data were then analyzed through content analysis technique, which revealed that the instructors perform their speaking skill assessments on basis of the criteria including grammar rules, pronunciation/ articulation, fluency, vocabulary knowledge, starting/sustaining dialogues, meaning construction, consistency, self-expression, language learning level, level of achieving outcomes, using phrases, style, length of speech, individual differences, exemplification, chronological narration, avoiding repetition, stress-intonation, body language, rate of speech, and effective use of time. It can be concluded that assessing and evaluating the Turkish speaking skill with a rubric to be developed based on these criteria will help minimize any potential rater subjectivities involved in such measurement and evaluation.

Teaching Turkish as a foreign language has been gaining significance, developing day by day and will continue its development in the future. Nevertheless, there is a need for field-specific researchers and qualified teachers who will develop programmes and materials within this context. It is crucial that the researchers, aware of these needs, can distinguish between teaching Turkish as a foreign language and Turkish as a native language. Within this context, there is an assorted number of methods to be utilized in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. For example, the drama method is used as a group learning method in teaching Turkish. This study aims at sugessting that students learning Turkish as a foreign language will be able to comprehend a difficult linguistic unit (semantically stereotyped compound verbs), by means of the drama technique. To this end, students were involved in the drama technique through the use of a play named ‘’Bilmece’’- from Karagöz and Hacivat- and were tested accordingly in order to comprehend their learning level of the semantically stereotyped compound verbs, followed by a questionnaire regarding their opinions of learning through drama. Karagöz and Hacivat is a two-dimensional shadow puppetry supported by imitation and dialogues. As these plays are based on folk stories and daily life, they contain a myriad of cultural elements. Within this context, selecting Karagöz and Hacivat plays holds significance for the cultural use of language. To collect the necessary data, we conducted research with 29 students learning Turkish at the B2 level at Yıldız Technical University’s TÖMER. Our study benefits from in-class action research method. Identifying the problem(s) in the course of language teaching, drama activities and worksheets were produced in order to solve the problem(s) in cooperation with the students. Data were collected through class observations, semi-structured interview forms and document reviews, and analyzed with content analysis by thematizing the data with codes. Students provided positive feedback regarding the contribution of drama technique- Karagöz and Hacivat in particular –to teaching Turkish as a foreign language. The study concludes that this technique will be beneficial for teaching semantically stereotyped compound verbs.

In teaching Turkish as a foreign language, it is essential to instruct the four basic language skills, namely listening, speech, reading and writing. Listening education is the key to communication among language learners. In the present study, the metacognitive strategies that can be used in the listening education process in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and the application of the steps in these strategies were emphasized. The present study was conducted as a case study since it aimed to introduce listening strategies that could be used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. The aim of the present study was to introduce the metacognitive strategy learning and instruction stages to learners of Turkish language and learners of Turkish as a foreign language, and to demonstrate the benefits of this strategy in active listening skills. Foreign language listening skills and listening metacognition strategies were described in detail and instructions are provided about utilization of these strategies. Dinleme eğitimi, dil öğrenenlerin iletişim kurabilmelerinin temel anahtarıdır. Bu çalışmada, yabancılara Türkçe öğretiminde dinleme eğitimi sürecinde yararlanılabilecek üstbilişsel stratejilerin neler olduğu, bu stratejilerin uygulama işlem basamakları üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu çalışma yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde kullanılabilecek dinleme stratejilerini tanıtmayı amaçladığından durum çalışması olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma ile yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretenlere ve öğrenenlere üstbilişsel strateji öğrenimi ve öğretiminin aşamaları tanıtılmış, dinleme becerisinin etkin kazanılması noktasında yararlarına işaret edilmiştir. Yabancı dil dinleme becerisi öğretiminde, dinleme üstbiliş stratejilerinin ne olduğu ayrıntılı olarak tanımlanmış, bu stratejilerin nasıl kullanılacağına dair yönergeler hakkında bilgi verilmiştir.

Keywords Views on language education have changed along with developments in global society. Today, most learners seek to acquire a foreign language for daily communication. Consequently, instructors focus on communicative activities in language classrooms. When performing such activities, the most challenging issue for teachers is to create accurate and consistent grammatical content in harmony with communicative activities. In language education literature, triad classifications are often used to classify grammatical content: form, function and use. In this study, I introduce the grammatical content classifications mentioned in the literature and then classify-mA and-mAK suffixes, one of the most difficult subjects for learners of Turkish. With this aim, I review both reference grammar and textbooks, the kind of resources typically used by classroom teachers, who do not have time to perform an in depth linguistic description. With this in mind, the study focuses on the classification of the information depicted by linguistic resources. As a result, the form, function and usage characteristics of the-mA and-mAK suffixes are listed item by item and sample lesson content is presented. This research will help instructors of Turkish to construct the content of their lessons and gain a new perspective on grammar teaching. Öz Sığınmacılar, sağlık hizmeti alırken dil farklılığından dolayı iletişim problemleri yaşamaktadır. Sağlık personeli ile iyi iletişim kuramayan sığınmacılar sağlık sorunları ile yaşamlarını sürdürmek zorunda kalmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, sığınmacıların sağlık hizmeti alırken yaşadıkları iletişim sorunlarına yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Bu amaca yönelik üniversite mezunu bireylerin sorulara daha gerçekçi cevaplar verecekleri düşünülerek, çalışma kapsamında Suriyeli sığınmacıların en çok yaşadıkları şehirlerden biri olan Konya ilinde Geçici eğitim merkezlerinde çalışan 8'i kadın 8'i erkek 16 Suriyeli sığınmacı öğretmenle görüşülmüştür. Araştırmanın verileri açık uçlu sorular oluşturularak toplanmış, elde edilen verilerin analizinde NVİVO 11 programı ve nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda Suriyeli sığınmacıların dil yetersizliği nedeniyle sağlık hizmetlerinden yeterince faydalanamadıkları, tercümanlar aracılığıyla sorunlarını çözmeye çalıştıkları ortaya çıkmıştır. İletişim sorunun çözümü için öncelikli olarak sığınmacıların Türkçe öğrenmesini sağlamak, resmi tercümanları sağlık merkezlerinde istihdam etmek ve sığınmacı doktorları sağlık merkezlerinde istihdam etmek öneri olarak sunulmuştur.

Abstract

The refugees have had communication problems because of language difference while they take health service. The refugees, who can not communicate with the healhtcare personnels correctly, have to live with their health problems. This study aims to determine views of the refugees about the communication problems during healthcare service. The data were collected by open ended question forms, analyzed by NVivo program and qualitative research method. The participants in this study were 16 Syrian refugee teachers have been working in Temporary Learning Centres (TLC) in Konya, which is one of the most prefered metropolitan cities by Syrian refugees. The reason why the teachers were chosen as participants is their educational level and teachers are generally thought the people whose views are admitted and reliable in all societies. As a result of this study, the findings show that Syrian refugees can not take healthcare services sufficiently because of language barrier and they have been trying to solve this problem through non-commissioned translators. It can be suggested that to enable the Syrian refugees to learn Turkish, to employ official translators and the refugee doctors in health centres.

Son yıllarda göçler, Türkiye‘deki kültürel çeşitliliği artırmış ve eğitim sistemini etkilemiştir. Göçle gelenlerin büyük bir bölümünün çocuklar olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çocukların ülkelerine geri dönmesi ya da başka bir ülkeye gitmesi muhtemeldir. Ancak bu çocuklar, dil öğrenmeye en uygun yaşlarını Türkiye’de geçirmektedirler. Bu nedenle, eğitim sisteminin farklılıkları bilen ve buna değer veren, çok kültürlü perspektifi olan, yurt içinde ve dışında Türkçeyi öğrete-cek öğretmenlere ihtiyacı vardır. Bu çalışmada öğretmenlerin ana-dili, ikinci dil, ikidillilik, yabancı dil tanımlarının çoğunlukla bilgi ürünü değil kendi yaşadıklarından çıkarımları olduğu görülmüştür. Bu özellik, öğretmenlerin kullandıkları yöntemlerden uyguladık-ları etkinliklere kadar etkili olmaktadır. Kavramlar, düşünceleri-mizi, düşüncelerimiz de üretimlerimizi biçimlendirir. Kavramların dil öğretimi alanında üzerinde anlaşmaya varılmış tanımlarından uzaklaşması dil öğretiminin tüm süreçlerini olumsuz etkileyecektir. Türkiye’ye göç edenlerin sayısı giderek artmaktadır. Türkçe öğretiminde yeni bilgiler üretilmesine ve yöntemler geliştirilmesine, eğitici ve öğretici kadroların hazırlanmasına büyük gereksinim vardır.

ABSTRACT
In recent years, immigration has increased and cultural diversity affected the education system in Turkey. It can be seen that most of the immigrants are children. These children will return to their country or go to another country. However, they spent their the most appropriate age in Turkey for learn language. Therefore, the education system also needs teachers who know and value differences, have a multicultural perspective, and will teach Turkish at home and abroad. In this study, it was determined that the definitions of mother tongue, second language, bilingualism and foreign language of teachers were inferences from their own experiences. This feature is effective from the methods used by the teachers to the activities they apply. Concepts, develop both our thoughts and productions. The divergence of the concepts from the agreed definitions in the field of language teaching would negatively affect all the processes of language teaching. The number of migrants in Turkey is gradually increasing. For these reason there is a great need to produce new knowledge, develop methods educational and instructional staff in Turkish teaching.

Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde hangi sözcüklerin öğretileceğine ve öğretilecek sözcüklerin nasıl öğretileceğine dair çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. Bunun yanında, Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretimine dâhil edilmesi planlan sözcükler konusunda, hangi seviyede kaç sözcük öğretileceği ise kesin olarak ortaya konmuş değildir. Öğretim söz konusu olduğunda sözcükleri “Ne kadar öğreteceğiz?” sorusunun cevabına duyulan ihtiyaç deyim, atasözü gibi söz varlığı öğeleri için de hissedilmektedir. Bu ihtiyaçtan yola çıkarak, çalışmada “Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde söz varlığı öğelerine hangi seviyede, ne kadar yer verilmelidir?” sorusunu yanıtlamak amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla doküman analizinin kullanıldığı çalışmada, Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kullanılan Gazi Türkçe Öğretim Seti’nde, Yeni Hitit Türkçe Öğretim Seti’nde ve İstanbul Türkçe Öğretim Seti’nde yer alan A1, A2, B1, B2 ve C1 seviye ders kitaplarındaki söz varlığı öğeleri incelenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerden hareketle Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenenlere temel, orta ve ileri seviyelerde söz varlığı öğelerinin ne kadar öğretileceğine dair bir öneride bulunulmuştur.

The aim of this study is to examine the language learning strategy levels used by Syrian refugee students who learn Turkish as a foreign language in the context of various variables. The study group of the research consists of 306 Syrian refugee students who learn Turkish at İstanbul Aydın University TÖMER (Turkish and Foreign Language Research and Application Center). In the research, the screening model, which is one of the quantitative research patterns, was used.

All grammar and course books of Turkish written and published in Greek present Geniş Zaman (The Aorist) as a grammatical tense. In these books Geniş Zaman is referred to as Present Continuous tense, Present Progressive or even as Broad Tense (Alatzas 2000, Zenginis & Chithiroglou 1995, Iorthanoglou 2003, Donias 2004, Toptsoglou 2005). However, all these definitions often confuse the Greek-speaking learners of Turkish since Geniş Zaman has no equivalence in Greek. This lack of equivalence can cause misunderstandings and lead learners to wrong conclusions about its meaning and use. In the first part of this paper, I try to redefine Geniş Zaman and present it not as a grammatical tense but as an aspectual and modality marker. I conclude that Geniş Zaman is a marker of habitual aspect on the one hand and a modality marker used to express possibility, probability, promise etc., on the other. After giving evidence in this direction, I propose two kinds of activities that better bring out the multiple uses of Geniş Zaman.

First Turkish existance in England is based on acquiring the English citizenship with the conservation of Cyprus in 1987 by England. First immigration of Turkish people was made by Turkish people as a result of pressure of Greeks in Cyprus started in 1940 and increased in 1974. The immigration from Turkey was started in 1970 because of educational, economic and politic reasons. Furthermore many Turkish people immigrated from Asia, Russia and East Europe. All of the can be called " The community speaking Turkish " .This people's childrens are bilingual and it is questionable whether which language is their mother language. Normally as long as knowing mother language well being bilingual is advantageous. But the reaserces have shown that for Turkish bilingual children bilingulism is disadvantageous. Unconsious families, being careless on awareness of bilingulism are the reason for their low language levels in two languages. In this research it is concluded that English level of the children between 5 and 16 is higher and families try to preserve their children Turkish level but the teachers don't consider that this levels are satisfactory. It is determined that families efforts are inconcious and Turkish schools and courses are not sufficent because of many reasons.

This study explores the way in which the teaching of grammar is blended with the communicative needs of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in the curriculum of Turkish as a foreign language in the Department of Mediterranean Studies, University of the Aegean. The paper first of all adopts a theoretical stance in relation to the questions concerning the teaching of grammar when teaching a foreign language and stands in favor of it, secondly it argues on how grammatical phenomena should be organized in a foreign language curriculum and highlights the importance of teaching grammar in classrooms of foreign language teaching in tertiary education. The paper then presents in detail the curriculum of Turkish as a foreign language at the Department of Mediterranean Studies, which covers the communicative needs of the A1, A2 and B1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Finally, the paper suggests directions for continuing inquiry in the field of designing curricula and educational material in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.

The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of the activities based on memory, cognitive and compensation strategies that are involved in direct strategies in classification of language learning strategies of Oxford (1990), on the success and permanence for B2 level students’ listening comprehension skills. Experimental group and control group consist of 41 foreign national students who B2 level representing intermediate level in NevĢehir Hacı BektaĢ Veli University Turkish and Foreign Language Teaching Research and Implementation Center (NEÜ TÖMER) in 2014 - 2015 spring season. In the study which was carried out by Mixed Method, quantitative and qualitative research approaches were used together and the data obtained from these methods was integrated with comments. In the quantitative dimension of the research, in which Mixed Method was used, Pretest, Posttest and Control Group Model of True Experimental Designs were used. The experimental process continued for 6 weeks. Listening comprehension success test was implemented on the groups at the beginning and end of the process. After 22 days of obtaining the posttest of data, success test was implemented again to obtain the data of permanence. In the qualitative dimension in which Case Study was used data collection techniques such as focus group discussion and language learning journal were used. For data analysis, T Test for Related Samples, T Test for Unrelated Samples, Shapiro-Wilks Test and Levene test have been used in this research. Group According to findings, it was concluded that the pretest and posttest mean score of the listening comprehension success test of the students in experimental and control group significantly increased but the difference between the groups was in favor of experimental group; there was a meaningful difference, which was in favor of experimental group, between post-test and permanence mean score of the students who were in experimental and control group for listening comprehension success tests; the pictures and the photos given before listening activity provided to make association about this activity and prompted given information; the strategies used made it easier to keep the information in memory and this lead to a positive impact on the reading field in terms of vocabulary.

Text simplification is a frequently used technique in language teaching. The use of reading texts for the target language in native language / secondary language education is the most important reason for text simplification. According to Krashen's comprehensible input theory, the fact that the linguistic input is ileri meaningful as makes the learners a natural member of the communication medium of the target language. This is possible with the linguistic input presented to learners one step ahead of the learner's knowledge. Therefore, it is ensured that reading texts, one of the linguistic input types, are part of the foreign / second language education / acquisition process with text simplification techniques. In this study, reading texts in Gazi University Turkish Teaching Set were investigated and the frequency of using authentic materials was investigated. It is determined that the texts created by authentic (original) and material developers are simplified in different directions according to the language levels. Texts have been simplified in terms of content, grammar, vocabulary, and syntax, based on language levels and targeted gains.

Language is one of the primary cultural values of a nation and therefore the developed countries cannot leave the teaching of their state language to chance. The studies about teaching Turkish and researching the Turkish language as a science have been made by the domestic and national Turkologists recently, and by the foreign Turkologists for the period of 100 and 150 years previously. This study focuses on the research on teaching Turkish as a foreign language textbooks written by the Russian writers. In the study, some of the materials written by the Russian in teaching Turkish as a foreign language context, will be analyzed. This study adresses the texbooks on teaching Turkey Turkish written by the Russians for the Russian speakers in their territory, examining the topics in, investigating how they dealt with the methods and approaches, and in which language and culture policy influences these materials. The general information about the writer and the material, topics, includings, introduction, preface, data on grammer in the textbooks analyzed by the content analysis method. The textbooks analyzed in the study are grammer textbooks rather than the coursebooks. Therefore grammer translation method is a general systematic grammer teaching methodology in the books. The fonology, morfology and syntax of Turkish is presented by different writers in a different approach. Some of the textbooks includings the sections about the writers own teories and discoveries about Turkish grammer and some sections on language exercises. The texbooks have been prepared within the period of Turkish Republic SSSR and Russian Federation. The studies in Russian Federation on teaching Turkish as a foreign language need to be analyzed within the bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia. On the other hand, the studies in the field of Turkology must consider the Russian-Turkish and Turkish-Russian political relations. The political relations between the two nations appeared historicaly as Ottoman Empire-Russian Tsarism in the beginning of XX century, Turkish Republic-USSR after the 1920s, and the Turkish Republic and Russian Fedaration after the year 1991. Language education is a multidimensional process. During this process, the language learners are expected to show same level of advance in linguistic skills. It is more difficult especially in learning languages other than native language. In recent period, the interest of foreigners in Turkish language has increased, and consequently teaching Turkish language to foreigners in our country became more common. While teaching Turkish language to foreigners, effective comprehension of all of the dimensions of linguistic skills is the most important task for the language teachers. Among the linguistic skills, the process of teaching and assessing the verbal skills – since it is not as easy-to-measure as reading and writing skills are – is more difficult. In this study, the word frequency of students at B1 level in Turkish language education for foreigners is discussed. For this purpose, the students were given predetermined conversation topics and allowed to make free conversations; the conversations were recorded. Then the free conversations were translated into text. Written sentences were analyzed via internet-supported text analysis software, and the word frequencies were determined. In this study, it was concluded how many words B1 students can utilize, to what extent the word teaching can be achieved in proportion to targets, and when more sentences are formed.

Yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimi, Türkiye'nin son yıllarda almış olduğu göç nedeniyle, Türkçenin ve Türkiye'nin kültürel değerlerini yabancı uyruklu öğrencilere ve onların çevresine yansıtması bakımından gittikçe önem kazanmaktadır. İşte bu nedenle yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde kullanılan ve kullanılacak olan ders kitapları, çeşitli materyaller, dil öğretimi vb. unsurlar Türkçenin aktarımında fazlasıyla üzerinde durulması gereken çeşitli noktalardır. Bu çalışmada yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde, Türkçe Öğretimi Merkezlerinde en çok tercih edilen üç eğitim seti, toplam on dört (14) kitap, yirmi beş (25) bölüm incelenmiştir. Bu incelemede bir dilin aktarımında ve kazandırılmasında o dilin zenginliklerini göstermesi açısından önemli olan atasözleri ve deyimler irdelenmiş; eğitim setleri arası sayısal karşılaştırmaları yapılarak da bu dil unsurlarının kitaplara dağılımları gözlenmiştir. Bu dağılımlara bakıldığında en fazla atasözü Yunus Emre Enstitüsünün hazırlamış olduğu ve toplam altı kitaptan oluşan Yedi İklim Setinde olurken (altmış dört atasözü); en az atasözünü de Ankara Üniversitesinin hazırlamış olduğu toplam üç kitaptan oluşan Yeni Hitit Setinde (otuz dört) görmekteyiz. Sayısal anlamda üstün gözükmeyen Yeni Hitit, atasözlerinin ünitelere dengeli dağıtımı ve tekrara düşmeme konusunda ön plana çıkmıştır. Deyimlerde ise yine en fazla kullanım Yedi İklim Setinde olurken (686 deyim) en az kullanıma ise Gazi Üniversitesinin hazırlamış olduğu eğitim setinde (362 deyim) rastlanmıştır. Deyimlerin de kitaplara ve ünitelere dengeli dağıtımı göz önüne alındığında, atasözlerinde olduğu üzere, Yeni Hitit Eğitim Seti (401 deyim), kullanmış olduğu bu dil-kültür ögelerini farklı ve dengeli bir dağılımla ortaya koyarak dil öğretimi ilkelerinin önemini gözler önüne serebilmiştir. ABSTRACT Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language has been gaining importance in teaching Turkish culture and language to foreigners and their surroundings as a result of mass immigration to the country. Thus, it is important to focus on required elements such as textbooks, materials, language teaching methods, and techniques in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language to enhance a high quality level of language teaching. The current study focuses on 3 educational sets consisting of 14 books and 25 units used in Turkish Teaching Centers. In the study, a number of provers and idioms that are important elements in teaching and acquiring a language are investigated and a quantitative analysis is derived from their frequency in the related educational sets. The analysis has indicated that Yedi İklim consisting of 6 books prepared by Yunus Emre Institution includes the most proverbs with a number of 64 and with 34 elements, the least was Yeni Hitit, a set of 3 books, prepared by Ankara University. Although the least quantitatively, Yeni Hitit is remarkable in distribution of proverbs to each units and in not repeating itself. As for the idioms, Yedi İklim seems to include the most with a number of 686, the set prepared by Gazi University includes the least by 362. Concerning the distribution of idioms in each books and units, Yeni Hitit Education Set, by 401 idioms like the case for proverbs, exemplifies those important elements in language teaching in each units in a great harmony with language teaching methods and techniques.

"Attitude" in foreign language teaching is a concept that defines the overall beliefs and behaviour of students towards the language they learn. Students' eagerness for learning the language increases in cases where the attitude is positive, whereas this process is hindered in cases where the attitude is negative. Our study aimed at constructing a scale for evaluation of foreign students' attitudes towards Turkish language education, since the literature strived for a scale that evaluated attitudes towards Turkish Education as a foreign language. This scale, comprising of 73 items was applied to 206 students in Uzbekistan that were learning Turkish, and corresponding validity and reliability studies were conducted. As a result of relevant analyses, it was determined that the scale consisted of 61 items belonging to 5 distinct factors, i.e; listening, speaking, writing, reading and comprehension and attitude&motivation. Calculation of Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficients having a valueover 0.70 suggested that the scales were reliable. Moreover, having the fit indices obtained by confirmatory factor analyses within the acceptable ranges proved that the constructional validities of scales were attained. Results of EFA-CFA and item analyses revealed that the scale was sufficiently applicable for students learning Turkish as a foreign language.

The purpose of this study is to test the effect of action-oriented method on attitudes in learning environments where Turkish is taught as a foreign language. The study was carried out in Ondokuz Mayıs University in the Turkish Teaching Center. For this purpose, two different groups were identified with a total number of 32 students; 16 of them were assigned as the experimental group and the other 16 students were assigned as a control group. Abstract: This study investigated the relationship between student characteristics (gender, major), and the problems they face when
learning Turkish language skills at university level in Kazakhstan. Participants included 120 Kazakh students from three faculties
(Law, Philology, and Engineering). They completed a 28 item Likert-type questionnaire which also included two open ended items.
MANOVA results indicated that gender and the problems students face were not significantly related while there was a significant
relation between major and the problems they face. The only statistically significant relation was found for writing skill. The Chisquare analysis results indicated no relation between both gender and major, and the most difficulty skill to learn. The possible
reasons behind the results and suggestions for further research are discussed.

Sözcük yapım bilgisi eğitiminin Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenenlerin okuduğunu anlama becerisi üzerindeki etkisini ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla gerçekleştirilen bu araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden öntest–sontest kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesinde Türkçe öğrenen B2 düzeyindeki 26 yabancı öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın uygulama süreci Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Türkçe Öğretimi Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi’nde 03.04.2017 tarihinde başlayan B2 kurundaki öğrencilerle bu kur tamamlanana kadar geçen 8 hafta içerisinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Uygulama kapsamında Türkçede sözcük yapımında sıklıkla görev alan 25 yapım eki belirlendikten sonra bu eklerin her birine 2 şer ders saati ayrılmış, bu saatlerden ilk saat öğretim ikinci saat ise alıştırma-pekiştirme çalışmaları için kullanılmıştır. Toplanan veriler ve analizler, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenenlerin yapım eki öğretiminden önemli ölçüde istifade ettiklerini ve bu öğretimi alan grubun okuduğunu anlama başarısı bakımından daha başarılı sonuçlar elde ettikleri ortaya çıkarmıştır. Ayrıca okuduğunu anlama bakımından elde edilen başarıda öğrenenlerin ana dillerinin kökeni ve yapısının da etkisinin bulunduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu başarının ortaya çıkmasında öğrenenlerin sözcük yapım bilgisine dayalı bilinmeyen kelimelerin anlamını tahmin etme stratejisini kullanmaları etkili olduğu düşünülmektedir.

It can be said that Georgia and Turkey have the political, military, economic, literary and cultural relations starting from the ancient period. Turk-ish tribes such as Kipchak, Khwarazm, Tatar-Mongols, Timur, Karakoyunsand Seljuks are known that they had relationship from the 7thcentury. Georgia seems to be culturally influenced as it has the border with Azerbaijan in the southeast and Turkey in the Southwest. Relations between Turkish and Georgian people are reflected in the culture and language of both nations, namely, Turkish and Georgian, in the historical period. It is undoubtedly known that borrowing words were the most obvious area in mutual reflection between the languages. In the recent years, for many reasons such as cultural acquaintance, neighbour recognition, getting information about Georgia in the Ottoman archives, Turkish soap operas on local TV channels have increased the Turkish teaching in Georgia. Nowadays Turkish teaching widely continues in Georgian universities. Even this can be seen in secondary schools and at the different faculties in the state and private universities. It is very important having made the analysis in the needs of the language instruction and curriculum in Georgian universities. It will accelerate the Turkish teaching if people know the purpose of learning language and how much time they allocate to it. The purpose of this research is to determine students' Turkish language learning needs in Georgian universities while they are learning Turk-ish according to the variables. The data obtained through surveys for the quantitative and qualitative researches, the results were analysed by SPSS Text Analytics for Surveys. Participants of the research were 141 students who learn Turkish languages in Georgian universities in 2015 year. Data were analysed by percentage, mean, frequencies and factor analysis. Based on the data obtained from the surveyneed analysis for Turkish language learning in Georgian universities were determined.

Öz: Günümüzde yabancı dil öğretiminde ölçme ve değerlendirme amacıyla
çoğunlukla geleneksel araçlar kullanılmaktadır. Teknolojinin gelişimiyle beraber
eğitimde ölçme ve değerlendirme sürecinde çevrimiçi uygulamaların
kullanılması da kaçınılmaz bir hâl almıştır. Bu sebeple ilgili çalışmada; öncelikle
ölçme ve değerlendirme türlerinden, daha sonra bir değerlendirme türü olan
formatif değerlendirmeden söz edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda çevrimiçi bir uygulama
olan Kahoot!’tan ve Kahoot!’un yabancı dil öğretiminde özellikle A1 ve A2
düzeyindeki öğreniciler için formatif bir test olarak nasıl kullanılabileceğinden
bahsedilmiştir. Ayrıca Kahoot!’un ölçme ve değerlendirme sürecinde öğreniciler
için nasıl motivasyon sağladığına ilişkin değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur.
Çalışma sürecinde tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın konusu ile ilgili
yeterli düzeyde yerli kaynak bulunamadığından yurt dışındaki çalışmalardan
yararlanılmıştır.

Abstract: Today traditional tools are mostly used to measure and assess the
teaching of foreign languages. However the development of technology makes
unavoidable the usage of online assessment in the measuring and assessing
process in education. Thus, this study firstly discusses types of measuring and
assessment and then analyses the formative assessment as an assessment type. In
this context, we discussed the online application: “Kahoot!” and how it can be
used as a formative test for A1 and A2 levels learners in teaching foreign
languages. Moreover we evaluated the application provided motivation for the
learners in the measuring and assessment process. Utilising the scanning method
in the study process, the research made use of foreign studies due to the absebce
of domestic related research.

"This study aims to determine the demographic features of online Turkish Language Learners aged between 18-26, the motives of learning Turkish and the difficulties learners face during their studies. For this reason, a questionnaire has been administered to Turkish learners from different countries. The data obtained from this study has been statistically analyzed. The results indicate that the demographic features of the learners are quite different and Turkish learners have different motives for learning Turkish including cultural, historical and individual reasons. The study also reveals that Turkish learners have some difficulties in the acquisition of certain sounds and grammatical structures.

Öyküler geçmişten günümüze gelen bir anlatı türüdür. Ancak günümüzdeki teknolojik gelişmeler yoluyla öyküler de dijitalleşmeye başlamıştır. Bunun sonucunda dijital öykü şeklinde adlandırılan yeni bir tür ve bir anlatı biçimi olan dijital öyküleme ortaya çıkmıştır. Dünyada her geçen gün yaygınlık kazanan dijital öyküleme, farklı yaş gruplarında ve çeşitli eğitim kademelerinde kullanılmaktadır. Dijital öyküleme yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde de kullanılabilecek bir tekniktir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimi alanında yararlanılabilecek bir teknik olan dijital öyküleme hakkında teorik bilgiler vermektir. Bu bağlamda öncelikle dijital öykü, türleri ve dijital öyküleme tanıtılmış, dijital öykülemenin temelleri ve aşamaları tarif edilmiş, ardından dijital öyküleme için kullanılan araçlar ve yazılımlar sunulmuştur. Ayrıca dijital öykülemenin önce eğitime ardından da yabancı dil öğrenimine ve öğretimine yansımaları anlatılmıştır. Son olarak da dijital öykülemeyi etkileyen bazı engellere dikkat çekilmiştir.

ÖZET: Dünyadaki teknolojik, bilimsel, sosyal ve politik gelişmeler iletişim gereksinimini doğurmakta ve bu nedenle insanlar anadillerinden ayrı bir dil öğrenme ihtiyacı hissetmektedirler. Avrupa ile sosyal, politik ve coğrafi yakınlığı; Arap coğrafyası, Kuzey Afrika, Kafkaslar, Uzak Asya ile tarihsel, dini ve kültürel bağlarımız ayrıca Türk Cumhuriyetleri ile aramızdaki kardeşlik bağı Türkiye Türkçesine olan ilgiyi daha çok artırmıştır. Diğer taraftan Türkçe öğretiminin devlet eliyle ve devlet kurumlarınca desteklenmesi Türkçe öğretimine ciddi anlamda hız vermiştir. Türkçe öğrenmeye karşı oluşan bu ilgi ve Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretimi politikaları çerçevesinde oluşan durumda yeni ve etkili dil öğretimi yöntemleri-tekniklerinin geliştirmesi, dil öğretimi alanında yetkin uzmanlar yetiştirilmesi ve amaca uygun öğretim materyalleri hazırlanmasını gerektirmiştir.  Bu çalışmada Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde görsel ve işitsel ders materyallerinin önemine ve kullanımlarına değinilmiş, konu ile ilgili önerilerde bulunulmuştur. The study aims to investigate the conceptions held by English language teaching instructors in a public university in Turkey and to specify the level of research engagement of teachers by either reading or conducting research. The data were collected form 52 English instructors through questionnaires and a subgroup of teachers were invited to interviews in order to shed light to the responses given in the questionnaire. The results showed that teachers evaluated the instances that are compatible with scientific research paradigm as research and the level of engagement in research was low.

The purpose of this research is to examine the self-efficacy perceptions of teachers who teach Turkish as a foreign language in terms of gender, age, undergraduate major, level of education and experience. Cross-sectional survey which is one of the quantitative research methods was used in this study. As the data collection tool, the "Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale", developed by Tschannen-Moran and Woolfolk Hoy (2001) and adapted by Çapı, Çakıroğlu and Sarıkaya (2005), was used. The scale which consists of 24 items has three dimensions. These are self-efficacy for student participation, self-efficacy for teaching strategies and self-efficacy for classroom management. The participants in this study were 118 teachers who taught Turkish as a foreign language at the universities of Atatürk, Aydın, Dokuz Eylül, Gazi, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli, and Uludağ, the Yunus Emre Institute, and private teaching institutions in Ankara and İstanbul. In the study, the self-efficacy perceptions of teachers did not differ significantly in terms of gender and age, but meaningful differences appeared in terms of teachers’ undergraduate major, level of education and experience.

Teaching Turkish to foreigners has gained significant momentum in recent years. New textbooks and studies increase rapidly in this field. The opportunities offered by linguistics should also be used in these studies. The use of context types should be actively involved in teaching Turkish to foreigners. This study was conducted to determine how much of the context types practiced in B1 Level Yedi İklim and Lale Turkish 3 textbooks used in teaching Turkish to foreigners. The texts and dialogues in these textbooks were identified and examined one by one in terms of the context. Findings were shown in a table with numerical data in Microsoft Excel. It was concluded that the authors who prepare a publication on teaching Turkish to foreigners and those who conduct studies in teaching Turkish to foreigners should benefit more from the use of context.

The relative remoteness between the phonemes and graphemes is defined as orthographic depth and the orthographies of the languages are classified as shallow and deep. The differences between the orthographies are generally associated with the development of reading skills and this association is explained with Orthographic Depth Hypothesis. In this study we aim to examine the orthographic depth of Turkish which is member of Altaic languages. Turkish is regarded to have shallow orthography due to its phonological and morphological characteristics. The current study aims to present the positive and negative effects on the characteristics of Turkish in teaching it as a second/foreign language.
