Role of Media

KAHB toward cancer and its treatment determines the patients' clinical outcome. This study explored KAHB among cancer patients in Penang, Malaysia. Sixteen cancer patients were interviewed upon saturation. This study recorded the information, transcribed, translated and validated before coded and categorized into themes. The study showed that perceived knowledge of cancer and its treatment was moderate. Their attitude toward cancer and its treatment was positive; however, revealed various health belief which influences their cues to action. Most patients seek traditional treatment besides modern medicine as they felt better. This information can support health caregivers for better patient's management.

Šiame straipsnyje, išanalizavus šiuolaikines žurnalistinio profesionalumo sampratos kaitos struktūrines prielaidas ir naujas profesionalizacijos kryptis informacijos šaltinių naudojimo aspektu, atskleidžiamos Lietuvos vietinės spaudos žurnalistų informacijos šaltinių naudojimo tendencijos. Tiriamas žurnalistų informacijos šaltinių naudojimas pateikiant 2012 m. penkių rajonų savivaldybėse įgyvendintą piniginės socialinės paramos skirstymo pertvarką, kuri buvo dabar jau nacionaliniu mastu vykdomos skurdo mažinimo politikos reformos (decentralizacijos) eksperimentinis etapas. Taikant tinklo analizės metodą atskleidžiama, jog vietinės spaudos žurnalistų tinklas yra siauras, o informacijos šaltinių diversifikacija naujomis profesionalizacijos kryptimis yra maža. Tai rodo nepakankamą vietos žurnalistų profesionalumą, kuris jau netrukus gali tapti kliūtimi užtikrinant analizuotų žiniasklaidos organizacijų veiklos tęstinumą.

The Malaysian government had announced the Movement Control Order (MCO) to handle the Covid-19 crisis. During MCO, the government has used media channels to spread the information to the public. This research aims to identify the mediating part of both knowledge and awareness between students' attitude and media role during MCO. The findings from 338 respondents analysed using structural equation modelling found that knowledge and awareness mediate between media and students' attitude. This study could guide policymakers to promote a greater understanding of the coronavirus pandemic by using the mass media. Klang River is heavily polluted. The state government tries to reduce this issue. The study's objective is to identify river cleaning's effectiveness by the non-structural measures of cross-sectoral collaboration and public outreach programs. A total of 82 usable data from Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Klang Local Council (MPK), Shah Alam Local Council (MBSA) and the river community have answered an adapted questionnaire. We employ SmartPLS software for the analysis. The results show that Cross-sectoral Collaboration (CSC) and Public Outreach Program (POP) have significant effects on Effective River Cleaning (ERC). Background: Body image perception is being shaped by unrealistic ideals portrayed in the media. Body dissatisfaction is one of the most consistent and robust risk factors for eating disorders, low self-esteem, depression, and obesity. Therefore, the objective of the current study is to ascertain the body image perception, abnormal eating attitudes and the role of media among undergraduate students of a medical college in Delhi, India.Methods: Cross-sectional study on 370 undergraduate medical students of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, India selected using stratified random sampling. Environmental issues on media channels are current topics these days. The governmental policy as well as the media come together to influence how people perceive, interpret and act on environmental issues. So far little has been researched on the subject of the environmental communication across the Baltic Sea. By comparative research on media coverage of environmental issues in Lithuania and Sweden, the paper aims at analyzing the role of media in facilitating learning in the society about environmental protection on the two different sides of the Baltic Sea. The research findings have revealed that in Sweden media coverage is rich with environmental content, thus the level of awareness in Sweden regarding the environmental issues is high and people are environmentally active. To compare, in Lithuania education of the society related to environmental issues is the main goal leading to the sustainable development and the rise of the environmental activism, which is currently comparatively low.

The emergence of COVID-19 has affected people worldwide from all angles, from the aspects of health, wealth, emotional and also human interactions. This study aimed to look at the attributes such as positive behaviour, awareness, preparedness and relationships among Malaysians during the implementation of movement control order (MCO), and the predictors of preparedness in facing the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional study was conducted online involving 317 respondents above the age of 18 years old. A self-administered questionnaire was developed in both Malay and English languages to assess the level of positive behaviour, awareness, preparedness and relationships, as well as their main source of information retrieval regarding COVID-19. In recent years, the focus on the challenges regarding work from home (WFH) has been escalating throughout the globe. In the context of Malaysia, seeing that this is an emergent issue, there are still limited studies conducted on the framework or model that promote the effectiveness of WFH. This analysis aims to investigate Muslim youths' compliance behavior towards the Standard Operating Procedures throughout the Malaysian government's Movement Control Order, which was implemented to contain and mitigate the cases of the COVID-19. The design of this study is a survey study using a questionnaire instrument on 545 respondents who were purposefully selected among Muslim youth aged 15 to 30 years in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the data was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques using IBM SPSS. In March 2020, the world was first hit by Covid-19 that started to have negative impact on all sectors including education. Most of the higher learning institutions had a shift to use the technology in imparting knowledge and conducting online learning for students. This paper analyzed the effect of attitude, interruption, personal skills and technology skills towards effective online learning. A total of 375 valid questionnaire responses was coded and analyzed using PLS-SEM analysis. for the role of media on body image perception. Data was analyzed using SPSS v21.
Results: A total of 370 students (57.6% males and 42.4% females) aged 17-30 years, mean age of 20.30
years±2.02(SD). Abnormal body image perception was seen in 35.4%, 21.1% had abnormal eating attitude (EAT26≥20), 36.5%, 40.5% agreed to be influenced by models and athletic figures in media respectively, 42.2% accepted
that media was their source of information regarding standards of attractiveness, 27.6% felt pressured to be attractive
according to SATAQ-3. Males more than females had disordered eating attitudes and felt media pressure to achieve
an ideal body image. Significant association was observed between age and perceived body image (p=0.033), gender
and EAT-26 score (p=0.039), EAT 26 and perceived body image (p=0.006), general internalization of media and
perceived body image (p=0.003), internalization-general, internalization-athlete, media as source of information and
EAT-26 score (<0.001, 0.001, 0.003 respectively).
Conclusions: The media should take more responsibility to not represent unrealistic ideals of body image concerning
both males and females. Educational and preventive efforts at institutional levels should be made to promote a healthy
body image and eating behaviours.

This study aims to investigate users' thoughts and experiences concerning the stress in a neighbourhood park in Petaling Jaya. A questionnaire survey is distributed to the park users' to identify their stress level and response to the neighbourhood park's current condition. The findings involved the relationship between a neighbourhood park and stress survey and stress score with park features. As a recommendation, a comparison between two different case studies in terms of geographic and demographic factors may lead to more findings in future studies in assisting the development of the neighbourhood park and promoting healthy lifestyles in reducing stress.

Disertacijos tikslas – atskleisti socialinio darbo kokybės konstravimą, teikiant paslaugas rizikos situacijose esantiems asmenims, bei  analizuoti vyraujančias socialinio darbo kokybės kultūras, kuriančias kokybės užtikrinimą organizacijose. Disertacijos tyrimo objektas - socialinio darbo kokybės suvokimas bei konstravimas intersubjektyvume.
Disertacija pateikia etnometodologininį socialinio darbo kokybės paaiškinimą, kai žinojimas apie tam tikrą socialinį reiškinį yra kuriamas interakcijoje.  Kuriant žinojimą apie kokybę yra svarbios tiek organizacijose kuriamos žinios, tai yra gerosios praktikos, tiek socialinės politikos kūrėjų makro lygmens žinios, tiek klientų ir tyrėjų žinios. Šiame darbe buvo analizuojami trys žinojimo šaltiniai: darbuotojo, kliento ir tyrėjo. Tyrimo autorė naudodama konstruktyvistinę grindžiamosios teorijos metodologiją, tyrė socialinių darbuotojų ir klientų kokybės konstravimą, taip pat naudojamos autorės įžvalgos. In the communication of policies, media presents the main source of public information, providing explanation and assessment of current social and political developments along with daily news reports. Media's role becomes especially prominent during periods of crises, which lead to social insecurity. Lithuania has seen a period of the growth in significance of the role of media in 2008, during the economic crisis, when a transformation in public policy took place. It impacted rise of poverty. At the same time the structural changes of media themselves were gaining momentum. The question of what the role of the newly emerged internet dailies is, as the significance of communication in public policy processes under late capitalism grows, becomes particularly relevant with regard to poverty reduction policies, whose task is to absorb the possible consequences of economic crisis and transformations of public policy. Within the paradigm of Critical Realism, which refuses to recognize democratising media’s role in public policy making as self-evident, the study of framing of poverty using critical discourse analysis was conducted. It is concluded that Lithuanian internet dailies act rather as facilitators of policy changes which during crisis were directed towards minimising state's role in securing well-being of citizens. At the same time media's interest in journalistic professionalism was overridden by market concerns. And also the effects of online media's global character are quite obvious. There is clear tendency to decontextualise news which means that the geographical proximity no longer serves as a criterion for news selection — or at least that it is not as relevant as it used to be. On the other hand this does not result in media framing more of supranational policy processes. Poverty issues, supposed to be addressed at the national level, have been rarely framed as something that has to be solved or otherwise depends on the supranational level of public policy.

This paper gives the definitions of various kinds of magazines commonly known in the subject of media. A definition makes the concept clear and the thing is well identified and there remains no confusion in the mind, in conducting any research the first thing is to know the terms and as to what do they mean or signify or speak of themselves.
