Emigre magazine, published from 1984-2005, is often considered a provocative example of experimental publishing, critical writing, and design authorship. Its message remains relevant today, as designers continue to question their roles and the status quo, within and beyond the discipline’s boundaries. To heighten the magazine’s visibility to scholars and a new generation of designers, this author designed
a public program focused on Emigre at the Goldstein Museum of Design. The result of this research is the Emigre Magazine Index, an online finding tool that situates the contents of all sixty-nine issues, including typefaces, contributors and their works, in an interactive context. The Index is publicly accessible and points toward, but does not reproduce, the physical magazine issues. In this paper, the theory and practice behind the project are discussed in relation to hierarchy and navigational issues, digitization challenges, and the significant role that design can play in these things.

Abstract: h-index retrieved by citation indexes (Scopus, Google scholar, and Web of Science) is used to measure the scientific performance and the research impact studies based on the number of publications and citations of a scientist. It also is easily available and may be used for performance measures of scientists, and for recruitment decisions. The aim of this study is to investigate the difference between the outputs and results from these three citation databases namely Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science based upon the h-index of a group of highly cited researchers (Nobel Prize winner scientist). The purposive sampling method was adopted to collect the required data. The results showed that there is a significant difference in the h-index between three citation indexes of Scopus, Google scholar, and Web of Science; the Google scholar h-index was more than the h-index in two other databases. This paper discusses plagiarism origins, and the ethical solutions to prevent it. It also reviews some unethical approaches, which may be used to decrease the plagiarism rate in academic writings. We propose eight ethical techniques to avoid unconscious and accidental plagiarism in manuscripts without using online systems such as Turnitin and/or iThenticate for cross checking and plagiarism detection. The efficiency of the proposed techniques is evaluated on five different texts using students individually. After application of the techniques on the texts, they were checked by Turnitin to produce the plagiarism and similarity report. At the end, the “effective factor” of each method has been compared with each other; and the best result went to a hybrid combination of all techniques to avoid plagiarism. The hybrid of ethical methods decreased the plagiarism rate reported by Turnitin from nearly 100% to the average of 8.4% on 5 manuscripts.

Measuring of directly unobservable or latent variables has been a serious concern among researchers engaged in quantitative research in the fields like social sciences, and humanities. This is mainly because of the challenges in quantifying the data related to latent variables. Purpose of this article was to test the reliability of the English version of the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) developed in Denmark during the PUMA (Danish acronym for Project on Burnout, Motivation and Job Satisfaction) Project in Sri Lankan context with a sample of 180 pre service ESL teachers. The data analysis shows how certain items in the CBI work in a different cultural setting. The overall conclusion was that the English version of the CBI is a reliable tool to measure burnout status of pre service ESL teachers in Sri Lanka.

The present study was aimed at developing “Emotional Maturity Scale” with five dimensions namely [Emotional Responsibility (ER), Emotional Stability (ES), Emotional Honesty (EH), Emotional Assertiveness (EA) and Social Maturity (SM)]. After a thorough study of the emotional maturity construct, 102 items were constructed and the expert’s opinion was undertaken. The items were modified according to their suggestions which served as a preliminary draft. A purposive sample of 50 students (25 males and 25 females) was selected from secondary schools of Aligarh city to ensure communication effectiveness. A sample of 200 secondary school students (100 males and 100 females) was selected from secondary schools of Aligarh city for the final try-out. After item analysis, 66 items were retained on the basis of their t-values. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient method gave the reliability of the test equal to 0.85 and the Pearson’s coefficient of correlation values between the subset scores and total scores values were high and statistically significant which consequently ensures the validity of the scale.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Project-Based Learning (PjBL) is increase effectiveness, create meaningful learning and influence student attitudes in future career pursuit. There are several studies in the literature reporting different aspects of STEM into a PjBL pedagogy. However, the effect of implementing STEM PjBL in terms of improving students’ skills in self-efficacy levels in physics mechanics at high school level has not been demonstrated as expected in the previous literature. This study followed a quasi-experimental research method. Bandura’s social cognitive theory is used to assess and compare the effect of STEM PjBL with conventional teaching method on students’ self-efficacy level in learning physics among over 100 high school students. The result illustrated that STEM PjBL improve students’ self-efficacy to solve physics problem. Also, the study proposes a guideline for future research.

This is a complete concordance of Dīvān-e Ghālib, the Urdu works of Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan Ghālib (1796-1869), the preeminent Indian Urdu and Persian poet known for his ghazals. The ghazal, a traditional genre of Arabic, Persian, Urdu poetry is comprised of independent two line poems called shi‘rs that follow a rhyme and are in one meter. This concordance—a complete index—is a digitally compiled work that uses his traditional divan, known in Urdu as muravvaj dīvān¬, as a reference point. This divan has two hundred and thirty four ghazals in total. The ghazals, however, are not traditionally numbered but they follow the same traditional sequence in all editions of the muravvaj dīvān¬.

Here I use Professor Frances Pritchett’s numbering of the ghazals and its individual shi‘rs as found on her web project on Ghālib, ‘A Desertful of Roses’,  where each ghazal is numbered from 1-234 and each shi‘r of the ghazal is numbered from 1-. Every reference in the concordance thus is composed of a ghazal number and a shi‘r number. This is how a sample entry looks like: [word]: {ghazal no., shi‘r no.}…: [frequency of the word in corpus]. For example, ābād: {101,9}, {145,1}, {182,2}: 3. The word ābād appears 3 times in the corpus, in shi‘r 9 of ghazal 101, shi‘r 1 of ghazal 145, and shi‘r 2 of ghazal 182. The textual corpus I use to compile the concordance is also borrowed from Pritchett’s web project, and is in the Roman transliteration system used for the project. I owe much gratitude to her for making the text available publicly.

Finally, it must be mentioned that this is the first research/reference tool of its kind for Urdu, the first known concordance for any Urdu text, and is part of a larger project of compiling similar concordances for other canonical Urdu works, such as the complete works of Mir Taqi Mir (d. 1810), Muhammad Iqbal (d. 1938), and Faiz Ahmad Faiz (d. 1984) amongst others. One hopes to make this, and other concordances, available dynamically on a web site very soon, in addition to the textual versions. This piece has not been published, and is being made available publicly for the first time in this format.

The study of this paper suggests on dependency problem in fuzzy computational method by using the numerical solution of Fuzzy differential equations(FDEs) in Milne's predictor-corrector method. This method is adopted to solve the dependency problem in fuzzy computation. We solve some fuzzy initial value problems to illustrate the theory.

In this article we assume that experts express their view points by way of approximation of Triangular fuzzy numbers. We take the help of fuzzy set theory concept to model the situation and present a method to aggregate these approximations of triangular fuzzy numbers to obtain an overall approximation of triangular fuzzy number for each system and then linear ordering done before the best system is chosen. A comparison has been made betweenapproximation of triangular fuzzy systems and the corresponding fuzzy triangular numbers systems. The notions like fuzziness and ambiguity for the approximation of triangular fuzzy numbers are also found.

Institutional repositories are platforms where a university’s faculty and graduate students can preserve their research outputs. Depositing papers in Open Access repositories will increase the visibility and citation of the article, due to removing barriers to knowledge sharing. It's highly recommended that documents without DOIs to be deposited in the repository that offer DOIs for documents you have deposited. There are several different types of repository that can host your research outputs depending upon your discipline. I will dig into some of them in this workshop.

However, there are hundreds of such tools to select from, for various research-related uses. I have collected over 700 tools that can help researchers do their work efficiently. It is assembled as an interactive Web-based mind map, titled Research Tools, which is updated periodically. Created using the MindMeister software platform, Research Tools provides a convenient interface with zoom in/out, screen drag, and other user-friendly features.

Being a mind map, Research Tools consists of a hierarchical set of nodes. One of the most important research  ethical  issues  that  should  be  taken  into  consideration  is “scientific misconduct” such as fabrication, falsification and plagiarism. Plagiarism can occur at any stage of the research activities such as reporting, communicating, authoring, and peer review. The purpose of this workshop is to engage researchers in their responsibility to conduct an ethical research.

Researchers needs to remove many traditional obstacles to disseminate and outreach their research outputs. Academic social networking allows you to connect with other researchers in your field, share your publications, and get feedback on your non-peer-reviewed work. The academic social networking, making your work more widely discoverable and easily available. The two best known academic social networking are ResearchGate and Academia.edu. These sites offer an instant technique to monitor what other people are looking at in your field of research. Both networks are offer roughly the same features. ResearchGate is more closely focused on collaboration and interaction, while Academia.edu often functions more as an academic version of LinkedIn, with an online CV and as a place to share your publications.

The DOI is like a digital fingerprint: Each article receives a unique one at birth, and it can be used to identify the article throughout its lifespan, no matter where it goes. A DOI should be interpreted as 'digital identifier of an object' rather than 'identifier of a digital object'. A DOI can be assigned to any Object. In this workshop you will learn how to define a DOI, prepare Meta Data, and assign a DOI for a journal paper.

This workshop series will provide various techniques on how one can increase the visibility and enhance the impact of one’s research work.

Unpublished papers, white papers and teaching materials can be a source for increasing the author’s visibility. Getting author's documents (the full range of work produced by scholars and researchers) under control is a key driver to enhance research visibility and impact. With a document publishing tools, authors can put all of their key documents online, where they are immediately accessible to the researchers that need them. By storing documents online researchers can disseminate their research output. I will introduce some of document publishing tools in this workshop.
