The focus of this paper aims to analyze a pioneering design magazine «Stile Industria» that became a prime arena for debate in the consolidating Industrial Design community. Forty-one issues were published between 1954 and 1963, initially at quarterly intervals then bimonthly on issues of design applied to industry, graphic art and package. Directed by Alberto Rosselli  and promoted by Gio Ponti, his partner and father in law, the magazine is affiliated with the architectural magazine «Domus» for its nine years of life. The editing staff is initially composed of friends and professionals close to Rosselli, all young people at their first editorial experiences: the architect-designer Giancarlo Pozzi, Franca Santi Gualtieri graduated from the Accademia of Brera, Michele Provinciali graphic, and Luciana Rosa Foschi, first as a secretary and then editor since 1957. This staff was over time increased by many other contributors including Angelo Tito Anselmi (editor), Maria Bottero who replaces Mario Galvagni as a columnist in the review of books and products. Other columnist were Bruno Alfieri, Bruno Munari, Gillo Dorfles, Carlo Santi, Ettore Sottsass Jr. etc.
The aim of the paper is threefold:
1. analyze a magazine, also created by female contribution, still poorly explored and known through a systematizazion of papers related to the Industrial Design
2. investigate the drafting work of professional women for whom «Stile Industria» became a springboard for new editorial experiences. For example Franca Santi Gualtieri will collaborate with the magazine «Abitare» founded by Piera Peroni since 1961, with an editing staff almost exclusively female, until becoming director in 1974. Also Maria Bottero will enter the editing of important architecture magazines such as «Zodiac» and «Abitare».
3. Finally, as a third objective, to report citations or good feedbacks of the works of women in the field of design starting from «Stile Industria»

This Paper present some common fixed point theorem for Occasionally Weakly Compatible mapping in Qfuzzy metric spaces under various conditions. 1. Introduction: The concept of fuzzy sets introduced by Zadeh [12] in 1965 plays an important role in topology and analysis. Since then, there are many author to study the fuzzy set with application. Especially Kromosil and Michalek [10] put forward a new concept of fuzzy metric spaces. George and Veermani [6] revised the notion of fuzzy metric spaces with the help of continuous t-norm. As a result of many fixed point theorem for various forms of mapping are obtained in fuzzy metric spaces. Dhage [5] introduced the definition of D-metric spaces and proved many new fixed point theorem in D-metric spaces. Recently, Mustafa and Sims[13] presented a new definition of G-metric space and made great contribution to the development of Dhage theory. On the other hand ,Lopez-Rodrigues and Romaguera [11] introduced the concept of Hausdorff fuzzy metric in a more general space . The Q-fuzzy metrics spaces is introduced by Guangpeng Sun and kai Yang[7] which can be cosider as a Generalization of fuzzy metric spaces. Sessa [18] improved commutativity condition in fixed point theorem by introducing the notion of weakly commuting maps in metric space. R.Vasuki[14] proved fixed point theorems for R-weakly commuting mapping Pant [14,15,16] introduced the new concept of reciprocally continuous mappings and established some common fixed point theorems. The concept of compatible maps by [10] and weakly compatible maps by [8] in fuzzy metric space is generalized by A.Al Thagafi and Naseer Shahzad [1] by introducing the concept of occasionally weakly compatible mappings. Recent results on fixed point in Q-fuzzy metric space can be viewed in[7]. In this paper we prove some fixed point theorems for four occasionally weakly compatible owc mappings which improve the result of Ganpeng Sun and Kai Yang [7] in Q-fuzzy metric spaces.

Numerous studies have focused on delineating the relationship between tourism and economic growth. In this article, we present the results of a rigorous meta-regression analysis based on 545 estimates drawn from 113 studies that empirically tested the tourism-led growth hypothesis (TLGH). The results suggest the presence of publication bias in the literature on this topic, where the majority of studies report positive and statistically significant estimates. Findings provide support for the TLGH, but they also suggest that the estimates are sensitive to a number of factors that are related to country data, specification, and estimation characteristics, and time span. Such sensitivities suggest that greater emphasis should be placed on reporting estimates of the relationship between tourism and economic growth across a variety of methodological characteristics and specification and estimation choices. The implications of the results for theory development are also discussed.

This paper explores the self-organising principles of horizontally-integrated innovation networks. It is shown that such networks can self-organising in environments where the co-ordination and production of new knowledge is itself a complex, dynamic and highly non-linear processes. The paper argues the development of a self-organisation perspective of innovation networks has two advantages. First, it provides a general framework of dynamic systems in which different strands of a highly fragmented literature can be drawn together. Second, formal self-organisation modelling techniques can provide interesting new insights into the micro-macro processes driving dynamic innovation systems.

This article focuses on issues concerning science and technology relationships posed by the emergence of a new drug discovery method, namely, combinatorial chemistry and biology. We assess the scientific content of combinatorial chemistry and biology using citations in patents to scientific journals and compare this research platform with biotechnology. We also identify the institutional affiliation of all the authors of the cited papers, which leads us to an analysis of knowledge spillovers between the main participants in the research network. Finally, we examine the relevance of localisation in the process of knowledge exchange with regard to EU countries and the US. The result of the analysis provides evidence to support the view that the inventive capacity of a country is dependent upon the basic research which is carried out, especially in universities and public research centres located in the inventor's country.

As Gándaras de Budiño es uno de los yacimientos achelenses más conocidos de la Península Ibérica, aunque no hay publicaciones recientes sobre su industria, contexto estratigráfico o cronología. En este artículo se estudian los materiales líticos inéditos contenidos en depósitos fluviales excavados por Julio Vidal Encinas a comienzos de los años 80. Este lote de materiales presenta todas las características de las industrias achelenses del Pleistoceno Medio peninsular. Los sedimentos que contienen la industria se han formado en ambientes de media energía. La escasa alteración de los materiales indica que estos reposan en una posición similar a la original.

We review the econometric literature on measuring the returns to R&D. The theoretical frameworks that have been used are outlined, followed by an extensive discussion of measurement and econometric issues that arise when estimating the models. We then provide a series of tables summarizing the major results that have been obtained and conclude with a presentation of R&D spillover returns measurement. In general, the private returns to R&D are strongly positive and somewhat higher than those for ordinary capital, while the social returns are even higher, although variable and imprecisely measured in many cases.

A partir de l’analyse des systemes de sens mobilises par les habitants d’une municipalite de l’altiplano du Guatemala, cet article a pour objectif de comprendre les mutations de l’intelligibilite suscitees par la tempete tropicale Stan et les representations qui font de cet evenement vecu un evenement construit. Les parcours migratoires, les trajectoires de scolarisation et les conversions a une Eglise pentecotiste peuvent etre consideres comme des strategies mises en œuvre par les acteurs pour prendre place dans le monde moderne en eradiquant entre autres, les croyances coutumieres. Mais le passage de Stan destabilise ces nouvelles certitudes et insuffle un vent d’inquietude : apres s’etre positionne en rupture face aux croyances ancestrales, l’evenement catastrophique inciterait a reconsiderer cette rupture.

Under the observation that Tenebrio molitor and Zophobas morio could eat polystyrene (PS), we setup the platform to screen the gut microbes of these two worms. To take advantage of that Tenebrio molitor and Zophobas morio can eat and digest polystyrene as its diet, we analyzed these special microbes with PS plate and PS turbidity system with t ime courses. There were two strains TM1 and ZM1 which isolated fro m Tenebrio molitor and Zophobas morio, and were identified by 16S rDNA sequencing. The results showed that TM1 and ZM 1 were cocci-like and short rod shape Gram-negative bacteria under microscope. The PS plate and turbidity assay showed that TM1 and ZM1 could utilize polystyrene as their carbon sources. The further study of PS degraded enzyme and cloning warrants our attention that this platform will be an excellent tools to exp lore and solve this problem.

Introduction: Although women fulfil and play meaningful roles in the academic life of universities, their contributions have seldom been acknowledged. The voices of women outside of the dominant western context of knowledge production, such as women in South African historically black universities (HBUs), remain largely marginalized. Women at these HBUs have indicated a need for mentoring and support to assist with their scholarly endeavours. Objectives: The objective of the present study was to determine the participants' views on the ways in which the mentoring process was used to overcome the challenges of publishing their academic work. Methods: Using a qualitative method and a focus group discussion to collect data. Participants: Lecturers who attended an academic writing skills development program. Setting: University of the Western Cape. Intervention: Academic writing skills development program. Results: The findings of this study indicates that dedicated time, learning to write, a supportive network and a culture of publishing in the institution was needed to assist black academic women conquer their publishing silences. Conclusion: A mentoring process can facilitate academic publication output.

Creation ex nihilo, la Cite nationale de l'histoire de l'immigration qui ouvre ses portes en octobre 2007 est une institution singuliere dans le paysage des musees francais. Ne disposant d’aucune collection prealable, elle initie ses acquisitions dans le domaine des beaux-arts et se dote d’une « collection ethnographique » en vue de la constitution de ses galeries permanentes. Participant d’une volonte de l’institution d’associer la « societe civile » a l’elaboration du patrimoine, sa collection ethnographique se developpe autour de l’archivage des temoignages lies a des parcours de vie. Comment l’idee d’une « collection ethnographique » a-t-elle emerge au sein d’une institution consacree a l’histoire de l’immigration ? Quelle place a-t-on accorde a la demarche ethnologique dans un processus de patrimonialisation initialement base sur une volonte de reconnaissance des memoires ? L’auteur revient sur la genese de cette collection du dernier ne des musees nationaux francais.

Este trabajo procura responder dos preguntas centrales: ¿Hasta qué punto el acceso y la participacion legítima de los autores latinoamericanos en el campo academico internacional responde a una division internacional del trabajo academico que es replicada y fortalecida a nivel local? Y ¿en qué medida la presencia periférica de autores latinoamericanos en las publicaciones periódicas internacionales cristaliza un régimen de desigualdad academica? Al observar la presencia de autores latinoamericanos en un periodico internacional y sus prácticas especí cas de autoría y publicacion, se ofrece un analisis de los limites y posibilidades de la internacionalizacion de la sociologia latinoamericana en el contexto de la desigual division internacional del trabajo académico.

NoSQL data stores are widely used to store and retrieve possibly large amounts of data, typically in a key-value format. There are many NoSQL types with different performances, and thus it is important to compare them in terms of performance and verify how the performance is related to the database type. In this paper, we evaluate five most popular NoSQL databases: Cassandra, HBase, MongoDB, OrientDB and Redis. We compare those databases in terms of query performance, based on reads and updates, taking into consideration the typical workloads, as represented by the Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark. This comparison allows users to choose the most appropriate database according to the specific mechanisms and application needs.

The ability in scholar writing is pivotal for students at higher degree of education. They are demanded to be able to write the results of their research in the form of research article and are encouraged to publish it in reputable journals. The low self-efficacy, low ability in scholar writing, and lack of knowledge as well as experience are the factors hindering the students in writing their research articles. This study reports the students' perception on the training in writing research article for publication. The participants were 25 students of the graduate program in Indonesian Language Teaching and Literature at an Indonesian university. They were trained and guided in writing research articles and the abstract. The results showed that the students had positive perception on the training. They also confirmed that they were guided in writing and developing the sections of research article and the abstract during the training.

In this article, I make a case for how the conventional deductive writing style common in top impact mainstream journals affects what we can know, how we can learn, and the extent to which quali- tative methods are valued. Using case examples, I demonstrate how a deductive logic perpetuates a myth that is ethically and pedagogi- cally problematic, constrains theory building, and invites inappropri- ate benchmarks for quality. Further, articulating qualitative analysis methods in a formulaic manner can actually overshadow and dis- courage the artistic insight of grounded analyses. The article closes with a discussion of how communication scholars are well equipped to help transform publication conventions so that qualitative meth- ods may be presented in more flexible and expansive literary styles.

In hydrogeology there is a variety of empirical formulae available for determination of hydraulic conductivity of porous media, all based on the analysis of grain size distributions of aquifer materials. Sensitivity of NMR measurements to pore sizes makes it a good indicator of hydraulic conductivity. Analogous to laboratory NMR, Magnetic Resonance Sounding (MRS) relaxation data are of a multi-exponential (ME) nature due to the distribution of different pore sizes in an investigated rock layer. ME relaxation behaviour will also arise due to the superposition of NMR signals which originate from different layers. It has been shown, that both kinds of ME behaviour coexist in MRS and can principally be separated by ME inversion of the field data. Only a few publications exist that have proposed approaches to qualitatively and quantitatively estimate petrophysical parameters such as the hydraulic conductivity from MRS measurements, i.e. MRS porosity and decay times. The so far used relations for the estimation of hydraulic conductivity in hydrogeology and NMR experiments are compared and discussed with respect to their applicability in MRS. Taking into account results from a variety of laboratory NMR and MRS experiments mean rock specific calibration factors are introduced for a data-base-calibrated estimation of hydraulic conductivity when no on-site calibration of MRS is available. Field data have been analysed using conventional and ME inversion using such mean calibration values. The results for conventional and ME inversion agree with estimates obtained from well core analysis for shallow depths but are significantly improved using a ME inversion approach for greater depths.

B. Different parameters of the skin were assessed such as wrinkles, roughness, firmness, elasticity, hydration, luminosity and spots (brown and visible). Skin morphology was also studied by ultrasonography to analyze the thickness of a Subepidermal Low Echogenic Band (SLEB), skin thickness and dermis density. All parameters were measured at the baseline visit (D0), at day 28 (D28), at day 56 (D56) and at the end point visit (D84). Volunteers had to complete a self-assessment questionnaire at each follow up visit. Results showed that all groups had some anti-aging benefits but the women receiving the combination treatment (Group C) had a faster and synergic effect in comparison to the other two groups with regards to improvements in the markers assessed for skin ageing.

RESUMO

O primeiro aparecimento de Fernando Pessoa em língua alemã ocorreu em 1956 numa tradução de Paul Celan. Nos anos seguintes, surgiram cada vez mais traduções nos países de língua alemã. O processo de edições e traduções culminou nos anos 1980 graças ao trabalho incessante da editora de Egon Ammann e do tradutor Georg RudolfLind. Hoje em dia, a editora alemã Fischer prossegue as edições de Pessoa com o mesmo rigor e com a mesma qualidade. Neste artigo tenta-se traçar as linhas principais da história editorial de Fernando Pessoa nos países de língua alemã, chamando atenção para o facto que a figura do autor sofreu várias alterações durante o percurso dos anos.

ABSTRACT

In 1956, Fernando Pessoa appeared for the first time in German language, translated by Paul Celan. In the following years, more and more translations were published in German-speaking countries. In the 1980s, the process of publishing and translating Fernando Pessoa reached its peak thanks to the common work of the Swiss publisher Egon Ammann and Georg Rudolf Lind. Nowadays, the German publishing house Fischer continues the Pessoa editions with the same rigor and quality. This article attempts to trace the main lines of Fernando Pessoa's editorial history in German-speaking countries, drawing attention to the fact that the figure of the author has undergone several changes over the last years.

The Commission on Higher Education has recently been quite aggressive in promoting research production and dissemination in all Philippine tertiary institutions. While conducting research has significantly increased in speed in the past few years, the number is still highly limited for those whose research outputs make it into publication. Many researchers may have the passion for publishing but do not know exactly how to go about it. Some who have managed to complete their manuscripts have had them rejected by the editorial board. Everyone is trying to get hold of the secrets of the editors. This paper presents the synthesis of a study from systematic content analysis of academic journals from 10 leading research-based educational institutions and organizations. The goal of the study was mainly to investigate how these journals’ publications are aligned with the Millenium Developmental Goals. Findings reveal that there is a consistent trend in the areas where most publications abound, while other areas are left out. Additionally, practical steps to take in writing academic papers for publication are proposed for the purposes of meeting the real needs of people through research.

Mostrando una gran habilidad para el dibujo, el Coyote pinta sobre ella un camino con tanta precisión que es imposible darse cuenta de que la verdadera ruta da un giro por la ladera de la montaña, esquivando las vías del tren que hasta ese punto corren paralelas al camino. Es que el Coyote es muy ingenioso, no deja nada al azar. No sólo ha creado la impresión de que el camino sigue derecho pasando a través de la montaña; ha rediseñado todo el paisaje circundante para que nadie que venga por la ruta pueda darse cuenta del engaño. Imagina satisfecho cómo el Correcaminos, entusiasmado con su gran velocidad al correr, entra sin darse cuenta en el túnel y ¡zas!, se da contra el tren que viene en sentido contrario. Por fin, piensa, podrá darse un suculento banquete gracias a su ingenio.
