Mobile Agent

The problem of mobile robot navigation has received a noticeable attention over last few years. Several different approaches were presented, each having major limitations. In this paper a new, agentbased solution the problem of mobile robots navigation is proposed. It is based on a novel representation of the environment, that divides it into a number of distinct regions, and assigns autonomous software Space Agents to supervise it. Space Agents create a graph, that represents a high-level structure of the entire environment. The graph is used as a virtual space, that robot controlling agents work in. The most important features of the approach are: path planning for multiple robots based on most recent data available in the system, automated collision avoidance, simple localization of a "lost robot" and unrestricted scalability.

Sofiare agents are expected to play an increasingly important role in computational, service, and data grids built around the Internet. In this paper we discuss attributes of mobile agent andpropose criteria that may be used for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of mobile agent systems.

This paper describes an approach for running mobile agents on various devices from mobile phones and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) to powerful PCs. Most mobile devices suffer from limited computation resources (memory and processors), limited network connection and bandwidth, and limited battery life. Mobile agents are a promising technology for minimizing the problems described above. However, most mobile agent systems today are very resource demanding both for the client and the server. In this paper we propose a simple mobile agent architecture that makes it possible to access a mobile agent system on various devices. This architecture proposes that clients will state their capabilities. Based on these capabilities, the client will either run the full mobile agent on the device or only run a light-weight version of the agent on the device. In our new approach, the mobile agents are basically the same on all clients, but for small mobile devices the code of the mobile agent is removed. This means that for mobile devices with minimal resources, only the data of the agent can be changed. The code of this agent is stored at the server. When the agent returns to the server, the two parts are joined and the agent is ready to be executed. The joined mobile agent can migrate to other agent servers and clients.

The growing availability of wireless portable devices is leveraging the diffusion of location based services (LBSs) that provide service contents depending on the current position of clients, servers, and involved distributed resources. When a wide public of final users use LBSs, two primary issues are crucial: how to guarantee the proper level of user privacy given the need to disclose,

Gypsy is a component-based, dynamically extensible environment for mobile agent systems. The runtime environment consists of lightweight servers that provide a distributed execution environment for agents, and a remote administration tool that supports the setup and shutdown of servers and agents. A server hosts a number of places to which agents may move to execute their functions. Each place is specialized to support a particular service. A supervisor agent may contain several worker agents that may execute concurrently. A supervisor agent travels from place to place according to its itinerary and launches its workers at appropriate places. A mobile agent is the basic abstraction from which all other components, including servers and supervisor agents, are constructed. The primary goal of the Gypsy project is to build a multi-language, extensible environment for experimenting with mobile agents as a programming paradigm. The environment is implemented in Java and currently supports agents written in the Java or Python programming languages. This paper presents an overview of the Gypsy project, the current system architecture and the design of the important components of the Gypsy system.

Considering the dynamic nature of portable computing devices with wireless communication capability, an extended model is introduced for worm spreading in the wireless ad hoc network, with a population of mobile agents in a planar distribution, starting from an initial infected seed. The effect of agents' mobility on worm spreading is investigated via extensive Monte Carlo simulations. The threshold behavior and the dynamics of worm epidemics in the wireless networks are greatly affected by both agents' mobility and spatial and temporal correlations. The medium access control mechanism for the wireless communication promotes the sensitivity of the spreading dynamics to agents' mobility.

Mobile agents are a useful paradigm for the development of complex Internet applications. However, the effective development of mobile agent applications requires suitable models and infrastructures. This paper proposes an organizational approach to the design and development of mobile agent applications and describes an infrastructure designed to support such approach. The approach models the Internet as a multiplicity of local and active organizational contexts, intended as the places where coordination activities of application agents occur and are ruled. The MARS coordination infrastructure supports the development of mobile agent applications by implementing organizational contexts in terms of programmable tuple spaces. An application example related to the use of mobile agents to access and organize tourist information is introduced and discussed through the paper to clarify our approach and to show its effectiveness.

The provision and delivery of personalised services across network and terminal boundaries with the same look and feel is currently a challenging issue for service provisioning in future telecommunication networks like UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System). This paper describes an advanced mobile agent-based approach for realisation of the VHE (Virtual Home Environment) concept considering two main aspects namely service roaming and terminal independence. The first one implicates the accessibility of personalised services in any network the user roams to, while the latter deals with the adaptation of the service presentation to the corresponding end device (mobile phone, Laptop, PDA, ... ) according to its capacity and system features as well as the specific user profile. The implementation of some service prototypes are described which were developed in the framework of the ACTS CAMELEON project [11,12].

Knowbot Programs are mobile agents intended for use in widely distributed systems like the Internet. We describe our experiences implementing security, process migration, and inter-process communication in a prototype system implemented using the object-oriented programming language Python. This infrastructure supports applications that are composed of multiple, autonomous agents that can migrate to use network resources more efficiently.

The technologies, architectures, and methodologies traditionally used to develop distributed applications exhibit a variety of limitations and drawbacks when applied to large scale distributed settings (e.g., the Internet). In particular, they fail in providing the desired degree of configurability, scalability, and customizability. To address these issues, researchers are investigating a variety of innovative approaches. The most promising and intriguing ones are those based on the ability of moving code across the nodes of a network, exploiting the notion of mobile code. As an emerging research field, code mobility is generating a growing body of scientific literature and industrial developments. Nevertheless, the field is still characterized by the lack of a sound and comprehensive body of concepts and terms. As a consequence, it is rather difficult to understand, assess, and compare the existing approaches. In turn, this limits our ability to fully exploit them in practice, and to further promote the research work on mobile code. Indeed, a significant symptom of this situation is the lack of a commonly accepted and sound definition of the term "mobile code" itself.

Dynamic lightpath protection in survivable WDM networks requires finding a pair of diverse routes (i.e., a primary route and a backup route that are link-disjoint) that form a cycle upon the arrival of a new connection request. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid algorithm for this problem based on a combination of the mobile agents technique and genetic algorithms (GA). By keeping a suitable number of mobile agents in the network to cooperatively explore the network states and continuously report diverse routes into the routing tables, our new hybrid algorithm can promptly determine the first population of cycles for a new request based on the routing table of its source node, without requiring the time consuming process associated with current GA-based lightpath protection schemes. We furthermore improve the performance of our algorithm by introducing a more advanced fitness function. Extensive simulation studies on the ns-2 network simulator show that our hybrid algorithm achieve a significantly lower blocking probability and a smaller execution time than the conventional survivable routing algorithms.

Mobile Agent is the computer program which can automatically move among different network hosts and perform the user's operations. A Mobile Agent characteristic is being automatic, cooperative, mobile, secure and intelligent. These are agents that can physically travel across a network, and perform tasks on machines that provide agent hosting capability. It allows processes to migrate from computer to computer, for processes to split into multiple instances that execute on different machines, and to return to their point of origin. Unlike remote procedure calls, where a process invokes procedures of a remote host, process migration allows executable code to travel and interact with databases, file systems, information services and other agents. Significant research and development into mobile agency has been conducted in recent years, and there are many mobile agent architectures available today. However, mobile agency has failed to become a sweeping force of change, and now faces competition in the form of message passing and remote procedure call (RPC) technologies. The strategies it flavors could be an alternate choice for routing mechanism in various networks especially wireless sensors networks which could have a specific function only to be invoked and then migrate while intelligently compressing and processing data that is collected for the sink to receive. This certainly would reduce network traffic and congestion in wireless sensor networks.

T he Web has transformed electronic information systems from single, isolated nodes into a worldwide network of information exchange and business transactions. In this context, companies have equipped themselves with high-capacity storage systems that contain data in several formats. The problems faced by these companies often emerge because the storage systems lack structural and application homogeneity in addition to a common ontology. The semantic differences generated by a lack of consistent ontology can lead to conflicts that range from simple name contradictions (when companies use different names to indicate the same data concept) to structural incompatibilities (when companies use different models to represent the same information types).

In this paper, an integrated approach for the modeling and the validation through simulation of multi-agent systems is proposed. The approach centers on the instantiation of a software development process which specifically includes a simulation phase which makes it possible the validation of a multiagent system before its actual deployment and execution. The approach uses the Gaia methodology for the analysis and the design, the Agent UML and the Distilled StateCharts for the detailed design, the MAO Framework for the neutral-platform implementation of software agents, and a Java-based discreteevent simulation framework for the simulation. The proposed approach is exemplified by defining and simulating a multi-agent system concerning with an agent-mediated consumer-driven e-Marketplace which offers mobile agentbased services for searching and buying goods.

Mobile agents are a distributed computing paradigm based on mobile autonomous programs. Mobile applications must balance security requirements with available security mechanisms in order to meet application level security goals. We introduce a trust framework to reason about application security requirements, trust expression, and agent protection mechanisms. We develop application security models that capture initial trust relationships and consider their use for mobile agent security.

Although cloud computing is generally recognized as a technology which will has a significant impact on IT in the future. However, Cloud computing is still in its infancy, currently, there is not a standard available for it, portability and interoperability is also impossible between different Cloud Computing Service Providers, therefore, handicaps the widely deploy and quick development of cloud computing, there is still a long distance to the fine scenery which theoretically depicted by cloud computing. We analyze the problems in the current state of the art, put forward that Open Cloud Computing Federation is an inevitable approach for the widely use of cloud computing and to realize the greatest value of it. Accordingly, we proposal the MABOCCF (Mobile Agent Based Open Cloud Computing Federation) mechanism in this paper, it combines the advantages of Mobile Agent and cloud computing to provide a realization for the Open Cloud Computing Federation, MABOCCF can span over multiple heterogeneous Cloud Computing platforms and realizes portability and interoperability, it can be a beginning of open cloud computing federation and a future part of cloud computing. We also present in this paper the rationalities and the motivations for the combination of Mobile Agent and Cloud Computing, finally, a prototype is given with a performance analysis.

Mobile Agents (MA) have been proposed as a solution for distributed Network Management (NM). However, most MA-based infrastructures exhibit scalability limitations when data intensive management applications are considered. Therefore, we present three novel applications, tailored to transfers of bulk network monitoring data, in which MAs are used to perform data aggregation, acquire atomic SNMP table views and support selective retrieval of SNMP table objects that meet specific selection criteria. The proposed applications are supported by a lightweight management framework described in previous work. A quantitative evaluation, in terms of bandwidth usage, shows that these applications surpass SNMP-based polling performance.

This paper presents a novel application of genetic algorithms (GAs) to achieve a uniform coverage of mobile agents over a two dimensional geographical area. In this application, the knowledge sharing agents in a mobile ad-hoc network adjust their speed and directions using GAs. The genetic information that each mobile agent exchanges with other neighboring agents within its communication range includes the node's location, speed, movement direction and degree. We have implemented a simulation software to study the effectiveness of this approach in different network conditions including different fitness functions, node densities, speed, and number of generations that the GA runs. Initial results are encouraging since, for certain network conditions, the genetic knowledge sharing agents converges towards a uniform node distribution over a two dimensional topological terrain.

This paper introduces AntNet, a new routing algorithm for telecommunication networks. AntNet is an adaptive, distributed, mobile-agents-based algorithm which was inspired by recent work on the ant colony metaphor. We apply AntNet in a datagram network and compare it with both static and adaptive state-of-the-art routing algorithms. We ran experiments for various paradigmatic temporal and spatial traffic distributions. AntNet showed both very good performances and robustness under all the experimental conditions with respect to its competitors.

In the past few years there has been an enthusiastic interest in mobile agent technology and several platforms have been developed. There are some comparisons in the literature about the functionality of some mobile agent systems. However, none of those studies includes a direct comparison between the performance of the platforms. In this paper, we present the results of an experimental study where we compare the performance of eight Java-based Mobile Agent systems: Aglets, Concordia, Voyager, Odyssey, Jumping Beans, Grasshopper, Swarm and JAMES. This study presents some insights about the performance and the robustness of each platform.

In this research, we propose an innovative robotic platform for clinical tests suitable for small or medium sized laboratories using small-sized multiple mobile robots and a robotic arm. The proposed robotic platform is referred to as "BioRobot platform". The BioRobot platform not only provides flexibility in test process by carrying out various clinical tests simultaneously through multiple mobile agents, but also increases productivity by having controllable throughput according to amount of tests. Therefore, the various algorithms which are related to robotic technologies have been applied in this platform to operate the entire hardware and several mobile agents simultaneously. To evaluate the performance of the BioRobot platform, various control methods are implemented, which provides parallel processing and scalability. The feasibility of the BioRobot platform with three mobile robotic agents is validated through preliminary experiments.

A model-based, distributed architecture integrates diverse components in a system designed for lunar and planetary surface operations: spacesuit biosensors, cameras, GPS, and a robotic assistant. The system transmits data and assists communication between the extra-vehicular activity (EVA) astronauts, the crew in a local habitat, and a remote mission support team. Software processes ("agents"), implemented in a system called Brahms, run on multiple, mobile platforms, including the spacesuit backpacks, all-terrain vehicles, and robot. These "mobile agents" interpret and transform available data to help people and robotic systems coordinate their actions to make operations more safe and efficient. Different types of agents relate platforms to each other ("proxy agents"), devices to software ("comm agents"), and people to the system ("personal agents"). A state-of-the-art spoken dialogue interface enables people to communicate with their personal agents, supporting a speech-driven navigation and scheduling tool, field observation record, and rover command system. An important aspect of the engineering methodology involves first simulating the entire hardware and software system in Brahms, and then configuring the agents into a runtime system. Design of mobile agent functionality has been based on ethnographic observation of scientists working in Mars analog settings in the High Canadian Arctic on Devon Island and the southeast Utah desert (Clancey 2002a). The Mobile Agents system is developed iteratively in the context of use, with people doing authentic work. This paper provides a brief introduction to the architecture and emphasizes the method of empirical requirements analysis, through which observation, modeling, design, and testing are integrated in simulated EVA operations.

In next-generation enterprises it will become increasingly important to retrieve information efficiently and rapidly from widely dispersed sites in a virtual enterprise, and the number of users who wish to do using wireless and portable devices will increase significantly. This paper considers the use of mobile agent technology rather than traditional clientserver computing for information retrieval by mobile and wireless users in a virtual enterprise. We argue that to be successful mobile agent platforms must coexist with, and be presented to the applications programmer sideby-side with, traditional client-server middleware like CORBA and DCOM, and we sketch a middleware architecture for doing so. We then develop an analytical model that examines the claimed performance benefits of mobile agents over client-server computing for a mobile information retrieval scenario. Our evaluation of the model shows that mobile agents are not always better than client-server calls in terms of average response times; they are only beneficial if the space overhead of the mobile agent code is not too large or if the wireless link connecting the mobile user to the fixed servers of the virtual enterprise is error-prone.

Balancing (ABDLB) approach in which mobile
agent plays very important role, which is a software
entity and usually defined as an independent
software program that runs on behalf of a network
administrator. It has ability to learn. After
comparing the proposed method with traditional
load balancing scheme we concluded that Agent
Base load balancing scheme greatly reduces the
communication cost of servers, accelerates the rate
of load balancing which indirectly improves the
Throughput and Response Time of the cloud.

Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the best-known framework for voluntary reporting of environmental and social performance by business worldwide. Using extensive empirical data, including interviews and documentary analysis, we examine GRI's organizational field and conclude that since its modest beginnings in 1999 GRI has been by several measures a successful institutionalization project. But the institutional logic of this new entity, as an instrument for corporate sustainability management, leaves out one of the central elements of the initial vision for GRI: as a mobilizing agent for many societal actors. This emergent logic reflects GRI's dominant constituency – large global companies and financial institutions and international business management consultancies – and not the less active civil society organizations and organized labor. We attribute these developments to factors such as building GRI within the existing institutional structures; the highly inclusive multistakeholder process; and the underdeveloped base of information users. From the institutional theory perspective, this case shows how the process of institutionalization is deeply affected by initial strategies of the founders, and how it reproduces existing power relations. From the governance perspective, this case leads us to question the power of commodified information to mobilize civil society and to strengthen governance based on partnerships.

Mobile agents are programs that can jump from host to host in the network, at times and to places of their own choosing. Many groups have developed mobile-agent software platforms, and several mobileagent applications. Experiments show that mobile agents can, among other things, lead to faster applications, reduced bandwidth demands, or less dependence on a reliable network connection. There are few if any studies of the scalability of mobileagent servers, particularly as the number of clients grows. We present some recent performance and scalability experiments that compare three mobileagent platforms with each other and with a traditional client/server approach. The experiments show that mobile agents often outperform client/server solutions, but also demonstrate the deep interaction between environmental and application parameters. The three mobile-agent platforms have similar behavior but their absolute performance varies with underlying implementation choices.

This paper proposes a language called CLAIM : Computational Language for Autonomous Intelligent and Mobile agents. CLAIM allows designing Multi-Agent Systems that support both stationary and mobile agents. Agents designed thanks to CLAIM are endowed with cognitive capabilities (e.g. reasoning), are able to communicate with other agents and are mobile. The primitives of mobility are inspired from the ambient calculus. The CLAIM language is supported by a multi-platform system (SyMPA) compliant with the specifications of the MASIF standard (from OMG);i.e. agents can be distributed over several sites and can move from one to another with respect to MASIF specifications. this paper presents the main features of our language CLAIM, resumes the most significant aspects of SyMPA, shows the expressiveness of our language, and discusses the completeness of the mobility.

Web Services enable computers to interact and exploit Web-accessible programs without human intervention. Despite researchers agree that mobile agent technology will obtain significant benefits from this line of research, the lack of proper development tools hinder the widespread adoption of mobile agent technology on the Web. This paper describes a novel programming language called WS-Log whose goal is to provide a tight integration between mobile agents and Web Services. Examples and experimental results showing some of the advantages of WS-Log are also reported.

In particular, digital technology offered a more effective way to control the precision of calculations. But the epistemological discussion was, at the time, equally relevant. For the supporters of the analog computer, the digital model -which can only process information transformed and coded in binary -wouldn't be suitable to represent certain kinds of continuous variation that help determine brain functions. With analog machines, on the contrary, there would be few or no layers between natural objects and the work and structure of computation (cf. [4, 1]). The 1942-52 Macy Conferences in cybernetics helped to validate digital theory and logic as legitimate ways to think about the brain and the machine [4]. In particular, those conferences helped made McCulloch-Pitts' digital model of the brain [3] a very influential paradigm. The descriptive strength of McCulloch-Pitts model led von Neumann, among others, to seek identities between the brain and specific kinds of electrical circuitry [1].

Micro and nanoscale mobile agents capable of self-propulsion in low Reynolds number fluids would have a great technological impact in many fields. Few known mechanisms are able to propel such devices. Here we describe helical nanobelt (HNB) swimmers actuated by an electric field-generated electro-osmotic force. These HNB swimmers are designed with a head and a tail, similar to natural micro-organisms such as bacteria and their flagella. We show that these electro-osmotic propulsion of HNB swimmers achieve speeds (24 body lengths per second), force , and pressure (375.5 Pa) above those demonstrated by other artificial swimmers based on physical energy conversion. Although nature's bacteria are still more dynamic, this paper reports that the demonstrated electro-osmotic HNB microswimmers made a big step toward getting closer to their performances. Moreover, an unusual swimming behavior with discontinuous pumping propulsion, similar to jellyfish, was revealed at or above the speculated marginal limit of linear propulsion. These electro-osmosis propelled HNB swimmers might be used as biomedical carriers, wireless manipulators, and as local probes for rheological measurements.

Rapid growth and expansion of information and communication technology (ICT) have set the pace for an electronic revolution leading to adoption of e-marketplace within the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Locally, this growth in ICT promises to further bolster the SMEs' position as the engine of growth for the Malaysia economy. However, there are various challenges and issues in setting up an e-marketplace in developing countries which appear to impede the growth of e-marketplace. In this paper, the realities of e-business adoption in Malaysian wood based products industry are discussed. This leads to the proposal of an integrated e-marketplace framework. This framework integrates different types of business mechanisms to facilitate in the trading of wood-based products in Malaysia. These mechanisms comprise of a third-party intermediary portal, mobile agent-based multi-attribute reverse auction and an e-negotiation feature that incorporates the use of the short messaging system service.

The pervasiveness of Internet-based communication technologies is fostering new forms of distributed computing, namely, large-scale, highly decentralized computing and mobile computing. In this context, new application domains such as M-commerce, mobile multimedia, and cooperative information systems, demand for adaptive and flexible middlewares and frameworks which fully exploit logical mobility and support programmable coordination infrastructures. In this paper, we present a distributed computational model which extends an active object model by introducing the mobile active object concept in order to support a multi paradigm design approach. Mobile active objects are autonomous network-aware entities or mobile agents which coordinate to one another through on-demand installable interaction spaces featured by events. The model is embedded in ActiWare -our customizable Javabased framework for the development of highly dynamic distributed applications.

Some of the most difficult questions to answer when designing a distributed application are related to mobility: what information to transfer between sites and when and how to transfer it. Networktransparent distribution, the property that a program's behavior is independent of how it is partitioned among sites, does not directly address these questions. Therefore we propose to extend all language entities with a network behavior that enables efficient distributed programming by giving the programmer a simple and predictable control over network communication patterns. In particular, we show how to give objects an arbitrary mobility behavior that is independent of the object's definition. In this way, the syntax and semantics of objects are the same regardless of whether they are used as stationary servers, mobile agents, or simply as caches. These ideas have been implemented in Distributed Oz, a concurrent object-oriented language that is state aware and has dataflow synchronization. We prove that the implementation of objects in Distributed Oz is network transparent. To satisfy the predictability condition, the implementation avoids forwarding chains through intermediate sites. The implementation is an extension to the publicly available DFKI Oz 2.0 system.

Nowadays wireless body sensor networks (WBSNs) have great potential to enable a broad variety of assisted living applications such as human biophysical/biochemical control and activity monitoring for health care, e-fitness, emergency detection, emotional recognition for social networking, security, and highly interactive games. It is therefore important to define design methodologies and programming frameworks which enable rapid prototyping of WBSN applications. Several effective application development frameworks have been already proposed for WBSNs designed for TinyOS-based sensor platforms, e.g. CodeBlue, SPINE, and Titan. In this paper we present an application of MAPS, an agent framework for wireless sensor networks based on the Java-programmable Sun SPOT sensor platform, for the development of a real-time WBSN-based system for human activity monitoring. The agentoriented programming abstractions provided by MAPS allow effective and rapid prototyping of the sensor-side software. In particular, the architecture of the developed system is a typical star-based WBSN composed of a coordinator node and two sensor nodes located respectively on the waist and the thigh of the monitored assisted living. The coordinator relies on a JADE-based enhancement of the SPINE coordinator and allows configuring sensors, receiving their data, and recognizing pre-defined human activities. On the other hand, each sensor node runs a MAPS-based agent that performs sensing of the 3-axial accelerometer sensor, computation of significant features on the acquired data, feature aggregation and transmission to the coordinator. The experimentation phase of the prototype, which allows evaluating the obtainable monitoring performances and activity recognition accuracy, is described. Moreover, a comparison of the monitoring system based on MAPS, AFME and SPINE in terms of programming effectiveness and system performances is discussed.

Most current IDS are generally centralized and suffer from significant limitations when used in high speed networks, especially when they face distributed attacks. This paper shows that the use of mobile agents has practical ad- vantages for intrusion detection. For this purpose we carried out a comparative experimental study of some IDS, showing their limits and then we propose an implementation of a new MAFIDS (Mobile Agent for Intrusion Detection System) model focusing on misuse approach. The performance of MAFIDS is investigated in terms of detection delay, false alarm and detection rate by comparing it to a centralized IDS over real traffic and a set of simulated attacks.

The installation and configuration of a new network component is a difficult task due to the heterogeneous nature of today's telecommunication networks. This task requires substantial effort and extensive expertise on the part of the network administrator because he has to set hardware and software attributes for a variety of such components to make them work together. We propose a solution to this problem, i.e. to automate the installation and configuration process of new component using the plug-and-play concept. We have taken the idea of plug-and-play hardware from modern operating systems to plugand-play network components in the Network Management domain. A plugand-play network component is defined as a component that is capable of configuring both itself and other cooperating components in a network without human intervention. Several plug-and-play schemes are possible but we have implemented a scheme based on mobile agents. This paper describes the plug-and-play concept for network components and focuses on an implementation of the plug-and-play scheme that is based on mobile agent technology. The paper also addresses the related issues and assumptions and concludes with a brief evaluation of the scheme.

(MAs) have recently emerged with the goal of allowing application developers to easily manage and control the properties and behaviors of mobile systems, especially in novel wireless and ubiquitous scenarios. Several MA systems have grown independently with no widely recognized standardization and still lack functions for easy integration. The primary consequence is that one MA platform tends to offer middleware facilities scarcely compatible with other MA systems. Moreover, MA tools are sometimes difficult to employ by common users who have to overcome a significant knowledge gap before properly exploiting MA-specific functions. The paper proposes a solution to open up the usage of MA systems via the bridge of the emerging Web Services (WS) standard technology to achieve interoperability. We have developed an integration infrastructure, called WSMI, with the twofold goal of exporting the MA functions with a WS interface and of simplifying the access to legacy WS components from any MA system. This promotes the uniform access to different MA system functions, independently of the specific MA implementation. We have thoroughly evaluated the WSMI prototype performance, also by comparing the WSMI integration functions with similar non-WS-based facilities: the increased dynamicity and openness of our integration infrastructure have demonstrated to largely counterbalance the overhead introduced by WS adoption.

The new approach that we will propose, in this paper deals with the dynamic data distribution of the data warehouse (DWH) on a set of servers. This distribution is different from the "classical" one which depends on how data is used. It consists in distributing data when the machine reaches its storage limit capacity. The proposed approach insures the scalability and exploits the storage and processing resources available in the organization using the DWH. It is worth noting that our approach is based on a multi-agent model mixed with the scalability distribution proposed by the Scalable Distributed Data Structures.

This paper presents the state of the art in biologically inspired ant based routing in wireless Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANET). The motivation for using ant-like mobile agents for providing routing information to mobile hosts in MANETs stems from the fact that antlike mobile agents do not require high bandwidth overhead compared to MANET proactive routing protocols for disseminating the topology information in the network. The increased connectivity information provided by the ants can be used to for making better routing decisions which can improve the network performance without causing high overhead.

The architecture presented in this paper is considered an adaptation model that converts from syntactic search to semantic search. We apply the training at Damietta port in Egypt as a real-world case study. we present one of possible applications of mobile agent technology based on semantic web to management of Web Services, this model improve the information retrieval and E-learning system.

This paper deals with detection of SYN flooding attacks which are the most common type of attacks in a Mobile Agent World. We propose a new framework for the detection of flooding attacks by integrating Divergence measures over Sketch data structure. We compare three divergence measures (Hellinger Distance, Chi-square and Power divergence) to analyze their detection accuracy. The performance of the proposed framework is investigated in terms of detection probability and false alarm ratio. We focus on tuning the parameter of Divergence Measures to optimize the performance. We conduct performance analysis over publicly available real IP traces, in Mobile Agent Network, integrated with flooding attacks. Our experimental results show that Power Divergence outperforms Chi-square divergence and Hellinger distance in network anomalies detection in terms of detection and false alarm.
