Human Behaviours

The objective of this work is the visualisation and simulation for automatic video interpretation. We have conceived a test framework that generates 3D animations corresponding to behaviours recognised by an automatic interpretation system or corresponding to behaviours described by an expert. Conceiving this test framework is essential in order to be able to develop and validate the interpretation process. The objective of our test framework is (1) to visualise the computation of the interpretation, (2) to be flexible (configurable) enough for testing the different configurations of the interpretation and (3) to be realist enough to understand what is interpreted. To solve this problem we have defined six types of model to represent all the information that is necessary for the interpretation. First, we propose a model of the scene context (containing the 3D geometry) and a model for the virtual camera. Second, we propose an articulated and hierarchical model for representing the human body given its sub parts. We propose two other hierarchical models for modelling human actions and scenarios, and also a model of scene-scenarios that gathers all previous models. We have defined a description language for representing these models. The obtained results are promising: we have developed a test system for a given interpretation system and started evaluating it by generating test animations.

Environmental behaviors are essential to ecological conservation and to environmental protection. The objective of this work was to assess knowledge and behaviors toward ecological and environmental problems, to determine the main environmental risks, and to purpose practical solutions for natural resources conservation and sustainable waste management in Morocco. The survey results revealed that rural villagers reported a higher level of ecological knowledge. Nevertheless, the inhabitants continue to overexploit natural resources to survive. They cut trees, transform natural habitats into cultivated land, put livestock into forest to graze, and capture and kill wild animals. The survey results revealed that the urban respondents reported a higher level of environmental knowledge. But a large fraction of the respondents do not use energy efficient light bulbs, do not have low flow water faucets, and do not separate household. In addition, they throw out hazardous materials in household waste, they discharge the expired and hazardous liquids to sewers and
they do not reuse a fraction of domestic wastewater. Preliminary data collected on waste management systems showed that in rural areas the inhabitants reduce amounts of waste and reuse and recycle a large fraction of waste. Based on this study, we recommend several measures to encourage the conservation behaviors and the sustainable waste management. Because the mosques and the schools are the two main sources of environmental information, we highly recommend working on projects of EcoMosques and Eco-Schools.
