Preserving health is one of the most difficult problems that requires consideration and solution at all levels of the study of human life, both in the context of psychological, analytical and pedagogical. Today, a strategy for improving and promoting health is considered a medical problem and boils down to treating patients only. Unfortunately, measures that can positively affect people's health: disease prevention, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and attitudes toward "healthy" behaviour are clearly not popularized today. In solving the task of health conservation, it is important to apply the efforts of the whole society and the responsible attitude of each person to personal health and to the health of the people around her. Today, there is a close relationship between education and health, as the level of education to a large extent determines the level of literacy on health issues. The cultivation of the value of health, the desire to preserve and strengthen it, acts as a pedagogical problem. Higher education institutions are an ideal place to promote a healthy future and support the development of their own health-oriented lifestyle. For the formation of this paradigm in the student mind, an important element is the recognition of the importance of the psychological aspect of this issue, as well as the proper use of elements of cognitive psychology in this process. The presented study will enable representatives of higher educational institutions, as well as interested persons in maintaining the health of future specialists of various industries, to quickly and efficiently introduce the principles of a value-based attitude to their own health into their own educational process.

This study created a model of instructional competence (IC), with leadership practices (LP) as predictors, of faculty designated with administrative functions of the university. It was conducted in a recognized state university in the Philippines. It has the characteristics, status, and mandates of a typical university in the country. There were 65 out of 97 (64%) faculty-respondents selected through purposive sampling with at least one-year experience of handling administrative functions. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, partial component analysis, and regression analysis. This paper reports on an exploratory study of the role of programme leaders (PLs) in a pre-1992 university, based on interviews with PLs (7) and a survey of taught Masters students (54) in a single school. The study elicits PLs' activities, most of which might be categorised as managerial and administrative, with leadership required intermittently; the preeminent role is in managing programme quality. The study finds that institutional guidelines overlook important aspects of PLs' work (such as organising enrichment activities and student advocacy) which affect the quality of provision; and findings challenge the notion that PLs are engaged in a 'disesteemed' service.

International mobility is a mechanism of internationalization that has an impact on all the substantive actions of higher education institutions and promotes the comprehensive training of undergraduate engineering students. The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon has been running an international mobility programme for more than 12 years. The programme was evaluated in order to assess the experience and the impact on the strengthening of the teaching-learning process of basic sciences. Results show that the internationalization programme has a positive appreciation by the students and their comprehensive training.

The discourse of folk, vernacular, or indigenous architecture often engages with the binary
opposition between canonization and marginalization. The canonization attitude seeks to
highlight the distinctiveness and uniqueness of vernacular architecture as an integral part of
national identity, while the marginalization attitude continues to regard vernacular architecture
as an obstacle on the road to globalization, contemporaneity, and progress. This binary
opposition can also be seen as a confrontation between heterogeneity and diversity, while the
vernacular architectural pattern, in many instances, reflects a combination of interaction and
uniqueness. This article is a comparative study of two culturally and geographically distinct
vernacular architectures, aimed at seeking similar valuable patterns between them. This can be
seen as a testament to the permeability of cultural boundaries and the dynamic nature of
vernacular architecture as a symbol of integration, all while remaining distinctive to a specific
place.

Job-hopping phenomenon seems to be common among academic staff of higher institutions. This is due to the increase in the number of Universities around the world. As such, their engagement has been reported to be in a steadying decline as academics’ mobility increases. This study examines remuneration as a determinant of Job-hopping intention and academics’ teaching engagement of selected universities in Southwest, Nigeria. In assessing the subject matter, a survey research design was adopted. Six hundred and twenty (620) respondents were surveyed across the selected universities in Southwest Nigeria using a five-point Likert scale method. Stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select the respondents for this study. The article presents the results of the survey conducted among the Ukraine-based companies in 2020 as of their awareness and attitudes to the dual studies (DS) and openness to cooperation with higher educational establishments. After six years of activities aimed at establishing grounds for the adaptation of the German dual studies models conducted by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Office in Ukraine (FES-Ukraine) and its partners, including the Ukrainian Marketing Association (UMA), the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MES) launched a pilot project on dual studies introduction in 2019 (MES Order #1296). The first year of the experiment covered partnerships of 44 pre-tertiary and tertiary educational establishments with around 100 Ukraine-based companies. In 2020 FES-Ukraine and UMA in cooperation with the Federation of Metallurgy Workers of Ukraine and HR Volunteer Association, have conducted a study among two groups of employersthose that represent partner-companies engaged in the project and those not involved into the experiment on the DS introduction. This article presents the results of the survey among the second group of employers. It allowed not only to study the level of awareness and attitude of the employers to DS but to inform companies not involved into the experiment about the initiative that might result in amendments to the list of the experiment participants in the Order #1296 and enlargement of the number of dual studies cooperation cases. The authors' questionnaire survey was carried out from May to September 2020 in the format of phoneinterviews. The respondents included 400 Ukraine-based companies representing big, medium and small businesses from all the Ukrainian regions apart from the occupied territories of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. The findings show that a wide information campaign is needed to raise the employers' awareness of the opportunities provided by the dual studies, which is being successfully adapted and integrated in the Ukrainian tertiary education. Therefore, the data obtained is a source of information for recommendations to the stakeholders (especially, policy-makers, employers and their associations) aimed at promoting further cooperation of higher educational establishments and Ukraine-based companies, thus, establishing framework for investments into the training of workforce as a prerequisite of companies' compatibility and the growth of not only individual economic actors, but the national economy. The FES-Ukraine funded the research.

The research purpose was to conduct an empirical investigation into students’ use behavior of e-learning tools during the COVID-19 pandemic, a case study of higher educational institutions in Thailand. The study applied the UTAUT2 theoretical model. Primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire from a total of 1,493 students across institutions of higher learning in Thailand. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was conducted using AMOS. The findings indicated that student’s behavioral intention to use e-learning tools is positively and significantly influenced by performance expectancy (β=0.22, p<0.05); effort expectancy (β=0.14, p<0.05); social influence (β=0.20, p<0.05); facilitating condition (β=0.50, p<0.05); hedonic motivation (β=0.35, p<0.05); learning value (β=0.51, p<0.05); and social distance (β=0.46, p<0.05). Similarly, behavioral intention by the students to use e-learning tools have a positive and significant effect on actual use of e-learning tools (β=0.82, p<0.05). Learning value and social distance had the largest positive effects on the student’s behavioral intention to use e-learning tools. It is important for the higher education institutions in Thailand to consider them. They are major factors driving students towards adopting e-learning tools during disruptions as witnessed during the COVID 19 pandemic period.

The number of students studying outside their home countries has rapidly increased over the past two decades. It is crucial for their host higher educational institutions to understand the factors that affect these students’ satisfaction in their chosen host countries. Such knowledge can help address the needs of international students, retain them through completion of their academic journeys, and encourage them to spur others to study in the host country. The purpose of this paper is to investigate several key factors as determinants of satisfaction of students studying business and other fields in five European countries (Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, and Poland), and in the United States. The sample consisted of 1183 respondents from 10 universities in the six countries who completed a survey created by a multinational research team. Based on previous studies, the independent variables investigated were self-reported English language proficiency, host language proficiency, intercultural competence, cultural adjustment, and social support. Hierarchical regressions found that cultural adjustment and social support were significantly related to the overall satisfaction of international students across the six countries. Although English language proficiency, host language proficiency and intercultural competence had a significant positive relationship with overall satisfaction in the intermediate models, the effect of these three variables became nonsignificant when cultural adjustment and social support were entered into the model. A follow up analysis among the six countries found that, for Finland, host language proficiency was also significantly related to overall satisfaction. Additionally, variations in the importance of cultural adjustment and social support on satisfaction were found across the six countries. The study has implications for three key stakeholders. First, international students may decide to select a host country based on the satisfaction of their compatriots, and satisfaction may lead to positive performance outcomes. Second, host country educational institutions can offer training in cultural adjustment and provide social support programs and activities to promote international student satisfaction. Satisfaction in turn may lead to higher retention rates and higher reputation for the institution. Third, host country employers may have greater success in recruiting international student graduates by providing cultural adjustment training and social support to increase the satisfaction of international students educated in the host country. The paper concludes with recommendations for future research.

This study investigated the positive and negative behavioral outcomes resulting from the pragmatic and psychological impacts of workplace ostracism experienced by university teachers in Pakistan. Using a qualitative and phenomenological approach, the data were gathered from 20 ostracized teachers working in public and private sector higher educational institutions in Pakistan. The results revealed that participants faced both the psychological and pragmatic impacts of workplace ostracism. Most of the ostracized teachers indicated positive behavioral outcomes due to being collectivist and placing a high value on social relations. Ostracized teachers used resource investment strategies by improving in-role and extra-role performance that reflect their re-inclusion expectations and less chronic prevalence of workplace ostracism. Authentic learning involves students undertaking activities on their degree that reflect those they would carry out
in a graduate job. It is widely viewed as beneficial in improving students’ employability. Opportunities for students to experience authentic learning are very uneven, and there are significant barriers that currently limit more widespread adoption. What role can academic developers play to help teaching teams overcome these barriers and make sure authentic approaches are more embedded
in the curriculum?

This research relates to the issue of unemployment among the local graduates and lack of employability skills. The objective of this research is to measure the employability skills among graduates from higher education institutions in Malaysia. The research identifies the gap in employability among the graduates and the competencies needed in the job market. 300 graduates from higher education institutions in Malaysia participated in this research. The findings of this research revealed that the graduates are equipped with most of the generic employability skills such as ICT skills, teamwork, leadership skills, and good time management. However, the graduates would still need to improve their communication, problem-solving and analytical skills. The research also found a mismatch in the employability skills between the graduates and job market requirements.

Creativity is an essential pillar for individuals in higher education institutions (HEIs). The promotion of a research culture in universities necessitates an environment supporting new ideas and innovation by encouraging their staff to be more creative. The Saudi government is trying to improve its higher education system by encouraging creative environments to support socioeconomic development and achieve a transformation from an oil-based to a knowledge-based economy. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that contribute to creativity and innovation among academic staff in Saudi Arabian HEIs. Therefore, this research-in-progress paper discusses how a specific set of organizational, individual and technological factors can support the achievement of a creative environment. Accordingly, a conceptual framework is proposed that lay the foundation for a creative environment in Saudi Arabian HEIs, with the ultimate aim of building an innovative environment in Saudi Arabian HEIs.

To date, various studies on cloud computing adoption have highlighted the advantages of using cloud computing in HEIs around the world. However, there has been a dearth of research in finding out the factors that affect cloud computing adoption in the HEIs of a developing country, Bangladesh. This sequential mixed method study involves interviews and a questionnaire survey among 481 students and faculty members in Bangladeshi HEIs. It has used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS v.22) and SmartPLS (v3.2.7) software for the analysis of the questionnaire responses. The researchers have designed the conceptual model of the study based on UTAUT model. The findings reveal that perceived benefits (t-value=5.681) and social influences (tvalue =2.094) have significant positive influence on the intention to use of cloud computing. In contrast, technophobia (t-value=2.123) and the quality of Internet infrastructure (t-value=3.752) have significant negative effects on the intention behind the actual use of cloud computing. On the other hand, perceived risk, the lack of knowledge and awareness of cloud computing, facilitating conditions, complexities and skills transferability have non-significant influence on the intention of actual use of cloud computing. The results of this study will help policymakers of Bangladeshi HEIs to ensure the effective adoption of services provided by cloud computing application by the faculty members and students. Moreover, the study sets an example for other developing countries in the world by highlighting the factors that affect cloud computing adoption among faculty members and students in HEIs.

This study aims to provide insights on how and why a specialised training programme could help graduates with low performance to compete fairly in the job market. This study used an action research design, where a total of 12 graduates with low academic achievement were trained under a specialised training programme consisting of two phases within the period of ten months. Despite having low academic achievements in terms of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), the employability opportunities of those graduates were high as they were equipped with the highly sought after GST knowledge and certification and various important soft skills such as time management, communication, analytical skills and leadership. This study demonstrated that engaging graduates in a specially designed program that aimed to enhance their technical knowledge and soft skills coupled with some work experience is indeed a value added strategy to enhance graduates employability. This is particularly applicable to those who are low achievers as it provides them with some kind of competitive advantages. The findings suggest that despite having low CGPA, their employability opportunities, particularly in the accounting and commercial industries, were relatively high. This study provides some guidance to policymakers and educators on how universities and industries may collaborate to mitigate unemployment issues among the accounting graduates.

This paper is designed to examine the motivational approaches used by the teachers and related impact on student's achievement. Motivation is an act of an individual which persuades him or her for a certain task. The interest of students is an important aspect of academic achievement and learning. Psychologists believe that it is difficult that learning can take place without ample motivation for learning. The existing research was of a character nature, so the survey method was used to accomplish the research goal. A questionnaire was designed as a tool for data collection. Questions on both aspects of the study; motivational techniques used by a teacher, and their impact on learning achievement, were included in the tool. After data collection, a profound analysis of data was done. The study concluded that the students were in favor that teachers used motivation strategies in a variety of ways. The consideration of disciplinary issues, regularity, praise, and use of effective teaching methodology were the characteristics of the teachers who work as potential motivators. These motivation strategies show a substantial impact on students' performance. Also, the effectiveness of motivational techniques varied according to students' proficiency level. It was further concluded that motivation increases classroom liking and gives the energy to achieve the goal. It was recommended that formative evaluation should be carried out and it has a positive impact on the learning of students and extrinsic motivation. The immediate feedback on the exam results may be helpful in the student's motivation.

In recent years, education reforms have paved the way for the development of programs that integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the teaching and learning processes. Teachers and students, especially pre-service teachers in teacher-training institutions, are encouraged to hone their skills in using and integrating ICT tools into instruction to cope with the challenges of the Digital Era. The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines has reinforced this vision in the context of the 21 st Century that Filipino learners in the K to 12 Curriculum must be taught with innovation for global competitiveness (DepEd Order 78, 2010). Thus, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through CMO No. 75, series of 2017 envisions that all teacher-training institutions must prepare their students to utilize ICT to promote quality, relevant, and sustainable educational practices in teaching and learning. Most of the published books and studies on ICT in education (e.g., Anastasiades & Zaranis, 2017; Tsiatsos et al., 2021; Khattri, 2021) appear to be general in scope where ICT integration into instruction has been discussed in a wider context. Thus, this book, Technology for Teaching and Learning 2 for Language Education English/Filipino is not only timely for language teachers, but especially more so for pre-service teachers specialized in teaching English and Filipino. This book is also aligned with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST), the standards of quality governing teaching practices in the Philippines whilst focusing on the development of the 21 st Century teacher (DepEd Order 42, 2017). Extant literature on academic identities claims that academic identities not only represent academics' subjectively construed understandings of who they are but they also derive from roles, statuses, membership in disciplinary communities and characteristics that make academics unique individuals. Even so, research focusing exclusively on academic identities is unprecedented in the Lesotho higher education (HE) sector; therefore, this study describes how narratives of experiences and meanings attached to being an academic relate to the construction of academic identities at the National University of Lesotho (NUL). How do reflexive interpretations of cultural expectations tied to membership in disciplinary communities influence the negotiation of academic identities and work behaviour of academic staff? How do descriptions of the (mis)alignment between job facets, individual values and expectations influence the meaningfulness and fulfilment for academics' professional self-concepts? How do stories of internalised meanings of involvement and symbolic identification with NUL influence academic identity trajectories? Being interpretive in nature, this study used narrative interviews to collect data from a sample of thirty-one academics from NUL. The findings revealed that 'who' an academic is derives from meanings of 'lived experiences' of work enjoyment, applicability, exploitation, facilitation, multitasking, prestige and burnout. The findings also showed that academic identities were negotiated by reflexively interpreting the cultural expectation of 'finishing work on time' through work behaviours such as managing time, working overtime, self-motivation, underperforming, balancing roles and seeking work assistance. The participants' narratives also revealed that the fulfilment for academics' professional self-concepts derived from autonomy, accomplishments, learning, interdependencies, work environment, students' attitudes and recognition. Lastly, the study showed that participants' academic identity trajectories were influenced by altruism, passion, options, disillusions and relations. Overall, the 'narratives of experience' reiterated that academic identities at NUL were contextualised constructs of 'work experiences', 'membership in communities', 'job attitudes' and 'self-discovery,' based on the self as a unique individual, a group member and a role holder. Consistent with the interactionist perspective, academic identities at NUL represent structurally, culturally and institutionally located stories of experiences and meanings derived from the work situation, the setting and social relationships that academics participate in daily at NUL.

The article discusses the features of intensive learning of foreign languages. The study of foreign languages in modern society has become an inseparable component of the training of specialists at all levels. The article takes a brief overview of the private teaching methods of students' foreign language communicative competence. Teaching foreign languages at intensive courses in language centers has its own specifics, which is different from studying at school and university. There are many intensive methods and concepts of teaching foreign languages. The external form as well as the means of implementing the intensive training system is the conscious and purposeful management of the process of communication in the study group by the teacher. A prerequisite for the effective course of this process is to increase the activity and creative role of the teacher, maximum mobilization.

For the past 30 years, many researchers have highlighted the
gendering of higher educational institutions. However, many
organizations in the broadly defined Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) area in the EU have varying
degrees of interest, or academic staff available, in the gender
equality area with many being largely unaware of this literature.
This article draws provocatively on existing concepts to ‘make
sense’ of the persistence of gender inequality. Such concepts
include gendered organizational power, which is frequently
taken-for-granted and is reflected at structural and cultural levels.
The concept of legitimating discourses (including excellence,
choice, women’s ‘nature’ and organizational gender neutrality)
helps to explain why gender inequality is not perceived. Other
manifestations of institutional resistance to gender inequality
provide insights into why it is not tackled effectively. The article
recognizes that gendered change does occur and uses the
metaphor of bonsai-ing to highlight attempts to limit the impact

Mathematics education should become holistic, relevant, and connected with learners' everyday lives, including their culture. This qualitative study aimed to explore the integration of the Ilokano culture in Teaching Mathematics at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, through a case study qualitative research approach. Findings showed that there is an integration of Ilokano culture in teaching mathematics in UNP. Ilokano culture is primarily used to motivate students or introduce new concepts. The integration of Ilokano culture establishes connections between the faculty and their students and their cultural heritage. The faculty participants also used culture-related examples and problems to emphasize mathematical concepts. Various elements of Ilokano culture are embedded in the teaching-learning process, the language, practices, values, known figures, landmarks, and crafts included. A culture-responsive structure exists in UNP as evidenced by its vision, mission, and developmental goals, which stress preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage. Difficulties in Ilokano culture integration include inadequacy in knowledge about culture and formal preparation in culture integration and culture-relevant resource materials. The integration of culture into the mathematics curriculum makes it more relevant to the students; thus, it is recommended that teachers design learning experiences in mathematics classes based on the students' cultural background.

This article is concerned with the source of men's invisible advantage in the male dominated disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It is suggested that this advantage has been obscured by combining sponsorship and mentoring. The research asks: Are men or women most likely to be mentored? Is it possible to distinguish between mentoring and sponsorship? Is there gender variation in either or both of these depending on the sourcewhether from the academic supervisor, line manager or other senior academics. This qualitative study draws on interview data from 106 respondents (57 men and 48 women) at junior, middle and senior levels, in four universities: one each in Bulgaria, Denmark, Ireland and Turkey. It shows that both men and women received mentoring from their PhD supervisor, albeit with slightly different reported nuances. Men were more likely than women to receive sponsorship in that relationship. Both men and women received sponsorship from the Head of Department, whose wider responsibilities may have reduced homophily. Men were more likely than women to receive sponsorship and mentoring from senior men, with most women indicating a lack of access to such senior academics. By distinguishing between mentoring and sponsorship, this article contributes to our understanding of the way male dominance in STEM is perpetuated and suggests the source of men's invisible advantage in STEM.

Performance appraisal is one of the key management tools which identifies employees’ strengths and weaknesses. Usually, this is the major mechanism of gathering information for rewarding/training employees based on their performance, and hence a key to achieve organisational goals by creating a satisfied workforce. Therefore, this study was aimed at examining the effects of the Performance Appraisal Process on job satisfaction of the university academic staff. This paper aims to institute that the folk song Pamulinawen is essentially a work of art descriptive of Ilokano cultural self-understanding. Specifically, it wants to elucidate that Pamulinanen, per se, is capable of self-assertion; it can usher itself to engage in a dialogue with the Ilokano beholder, and through the mediation of a common pagsasao (language), it embodies the individual and/or Nakem, the Ilokano collective identity. More than a popular song of courtship among the Ilokanos, the song Pamulinawen then attempts to increase knowledge about Ilokano kananakem (cultural self-understanding) so that it serves not only as a piece of Ilokano cultural entertainment but as a medium to express "Ilokano-ness" (Ilokano beingness). Through the qualitative methodology, this study mainly employs maiyannatup a panagripirip, a hermeneutical approach to appropriately philosophize on the Ilokano metaphysics, epistemology, and axiology. This approach consists of, among others, palpaliiw (observation) and the "Agcaoilon PAR" ("Punget-A-Ramut a balikas" or root-stem word).

The main aim of this work was to investigate the availability and capacity of educational programmes at different levels at European Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) that are directly related to disaster resilience. This investigation was important since education in disaster resilience for citizens, communities, public administrators and decision makers is vital for improving preparedness, mitigation, resistance, absorption and recovery as a result of natural disasters. For this purpose, a study on the capacity of HEIs across Europe to address the threats imposed by natural hazards has been carried out. The study was performed by using a web-based survey tool which ran for 1 year with participants from 28 European countries. Findings of this work showed a great lack of educational programmes in disaster resilience across Europe. However, in recent years, there has been an increase in such programmes mainly at postgraduate level. At undergraduate level, there is only a very limited number of such programmes, which might be related to the multidisciplinary nature of these programmes. The cohort size of the ongoing programmes indicates that they are in good health despite their young age, suggesting the potential and need for many more. The results of this study are valuable for HEIs, policy makers, decision makers and governments as it provides an insight into the existing situation across Europe with regard to educational programmes directly related to disaster resilience which can help them to focus, direct and promote education in disaster resilience according to the needs at national and European level.

Natural disaster events are continuously increasing in number and severity in recent years. In 2010, 263 million people were affected by disasters-110 million more than in 2004, the year of the Asian tsunami. There is a need for citizens as well as public administrators to be educated in disaster resilience issues for better prevention, mitigation, preparedness and recovery from such events. Education in disaster resilience is of great importance for administrators forming policies and planning disaster response, managing post disaster actions and performing risk and vulnerability assessments. This paper presents the results from a study aimed to explore, analyse, compare and describe disaster resilience related higher education programmes in Europe in order to establish the existing capacity among European Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to address the threats posed by hazards of natural and human origin. Results showed that there has been growth in disaster resilience higher education programmes in recent years, particularly at masters level, but there remains great potential for many more.

With the creation of Social Networking Sites, colleges and universities across the globe have been playing catch-up with students. This new technology carries much weight as a new medium for students to build social connections and grow as members of their institutions [1]. With the aim of exploring the effect of social networking sites to the lifestyles of teachers and students in higher educational institutions, this research was conducted at four private universities in Bangladesh and one university in Uganda. A sample of one hundred teachers and one hundred students was respectively selected from four private universities in Bangladesh and one university in Uganda. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were applied during data analysis. The results indicated that social networking sites had several impacts on the lifestyle of students and teachers with the positive effects outweighing the negative effects. The findings confirmed that students can formulate group discussions so as to exchange their ideas, communicate to their teachers and appeal to their friends about assignments. Teachers share course related materials with their students, enables research work, creates student groups to collaborate on projects and communicate with their fellow teachers from other universities. So the principal conclusion was that the use of social networking sites should be incorporated into teachers' and students' lifestyles as its beneficial nature takes over its adverse side.

This article is concerned with the source of men's invisible advantage in the male dominated disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It is suggested that this advantage has been obscured by combining sponsorship and mentoring. The research asks: Are men or women most likely to be mentored? Is it possible to distinguish between mentoring and sponsorship? Is there gender variation in either or both of these depending on the sourcewhether from the academic supervisor, line manager or other senior academics. This qualitative study draws on interview data from 106 respondents (57 men and 48 women) at junior, middle and senior levels, in four universities: one each in Bulgaria, Denmark, Ireland and Turkey. It shows that both men and women received mentoring from their PhD supervisor, albeit with slightly different reported nuances. Men were more likely than women to receive sponsorship in that relationship. Both men and women received sponsorship from the Head of Department, whose wider responsibilities may have reduced homophily. Men were more likely than women to receive sponsorship and mentoring from senior men, with most women indicating a lack of access to such senior academics. By distinguishing between mentoring and sponsorship, this article contributes to our understanding of the way male dominance in STEM is perpetuated and suggests the source of men's invisible advantage in STEM.

The original contribution of this article lies in its focus on state policy developments and interventions. We focus on Ireland as a specific national context, highlighting multi-level state interventions and looking at their impact on HEIs. Using secondary data analysis (including documentary analysis) and focusing particularly on the period since 2014, state initiatives to tackle the problem of gender inequality from various angles are outlined. They include the introduction of Athena SWAN; the Expert Group Review; the Gender Equality Taskforce; the Senior Academic Leadership Initiative; research funding agency initiatives and those around sexual harassment. This research delves into a poverty alleviating way of life of the Ilocanoes- the Tagnawa System. This practice is the coming together of men and women around the neighborhood to help one another during times requiring voluminous work, without thinking monetary remuneration in return. It identified the segment of population that had been practicing it and the occasions in their life as a community that have made this system very fructifying. Data gathering was done through interview with senior citizens in the locality, and reinforced through readings and internet blogs. paper presents the preliminary assessment arising out of a survey of Pandan Site (NM Site Code I- 2011-I1) 4 , a maritime site featuring an abandoned traditional Biray vessel located along the Mestizo River in Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, Northwest Luzon. The site position is perpendicular to the West Philippine Sea (formerly South China Sea) and lies under an abandoned Abra Delta. It is considered as an inland and coastal boat. The structural remains of the vessel have a length of 18 meters (m) and a width of 5m. It is visible during low tide and is characterized by flat hull with ribs, pointed bow and stern. Initial investigation did not observe any evidence of a keel. Based on local oral histories, the boat may be between 80 to 150 years old. The role of this traditional vessel is re-examined in the Northern Luzon trade network extending as far south as Manila to as far North as the Babuyan Channel. The study evaluates the best green practices and green HRM practices at higher educational institutes on sustainability, including green recruitment and selection, green training and development, green performance appraisal, green pay and reward management, green employee participation and empowerment, and green exit. Using a simple random sampling method, the sample data of 150 was collected from Teaching and Non-Teaching employees of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore using the questionnaire method. The study reveals that the entire GHRM practices adopted in Bharathiar University, Coimbatore are low; thus, it is essential in the modern scenario to enhance its HR practices to be more environmentally sustainable. The finding suggests that policies and practices may exist, but employees are unaware of them. This reveals a lack of sharing of knowledge among employees. This study aims to investigate the effect of soft skills and ethics and value on the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) graduates, together with the moderating effect of knowledge on the relationship between soft skills and the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting UMT graduates. The study’s respondents comprised of 208 employers in Malaysia who responded through an online survey using Google Forms. The survey data was then analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), indicating that soft skills positively affected the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting UMT graduates. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate students' perceptions and attitudes towards the usage of ICT and its challenges in the higher educational institutions of Balochistan. A convenient sampling method was used to select 420 students from the top 6 higher educational institutions of Balochistan. Moreover, a Lickert-based closed-ended questionnaire was used for data collection purposes. The collected data were analyzed in SPSS Software. The results showed that 150 (39.5%) respondents were using ICT for academic events and 142 (37.4%) respondents were using ICT for their assignment completion. Furthermore, the study also highlighted some major challenges preventing students from using ICT are such as, 139 (36.6%) electricity failures, 150 (39.5%) leakage of privacy, and 120 (31.6%) lack of training and178 (46.8%) the poor internet connectivity. The study also suggests steps that if taken would ensure better use of ICT and, in the long run, would establish a stable and productive relationship between ICT and student academic performance.
