Il paper è dedicato all'analisi delle vicende del Groupe de Grasse (1940-1942), variamente composto da perseguitati politici e artisti in esilio in attesa di un visto per emigrare negli Stati Uniti, trovatisi a condividere a stretto contatto un periodo stori-co estremamente travagliato e incerto. Dopo una breve introduzione sulla storia e la struttura di vari gruppi artistici creatisi nel Sud della Francia durante la Repubblica di Vichy, si passa ad analizzare il contributo dei singoli artisti e la loro idea di collettività artistica. Si intende pertanto riflettere sui problemi storici posti da una tipologia di opere difficile da inquadrare all'interno del percorso di ogni singolo artista del gruppo. Dal punto vista metodologico si è scelto di operare un taglio eminentemente storico, sulla base di documenti inediti e testi rari provenienti dalla Stiftung Hans Arp di Berlino.

Un tòpos della critica vuole che la pubblicazione di 'Vogliamo tutto', nel 1971, costituisca una svolta rispetto alla precedente opera di Balestrini, avviatasi dieci anni prima con i Novissimi e con l’esperimento informatico di 'Tape Mark I'. Un lavoro iperformalista, ludico, anticomunicativo e disimpegnato avrebbe lasciato il campo a una letteratura più affabile e fruibile, assunti i caratteri dell’epica, dell’oralità e dell’impegno.
Riconoscendo alla scrittura balestriniana un orizzonte estetico più ampio è forse possibile un’ipotesi alternativa. Si tratta di mettere a frutto gli studi sul rapporto tra una civiltà – i suoi modi di percezione e di pensiero – e la tecnologia del linguaggio che gli è propria, e in particolare l’idea secondo cui l’uomo tipografico conosce con l’elettronica un’oralità di ritorno, ricalcando un ben noto rovesciamento dialettico.
In effetti Balestrini attraversa gli anni Sessanta agendo lungo tre direttrici e mostrando – anche grazie a modelli quali Döblin o Brecht, e a interlocutori più o meno impliciti quali Pasolini, Vittorini o Calvino – come l’impegno possa scaturire dall’esasperazione del formalismo, l’oralità da una scrittura massimamente tipografica, e infine l’epica dalle tecnologie più avanzate del tardo capitalismo. Un’azione segnata dalla forza utopica e dalla tensione rivoluzionaria su cui Vogliamo tutto, con l’intera parabola che vi ha condotto, si regge.

Tristan Tzara és Kassák Lajos több évtizeden át tartó, igaz, ritkás levelezéséből olvasható a következőkben négy, eddig kiadatlan szöveg. A levelek Kassák és a dada művészek szerkesztői tevékenységének rekonstruálásához jelentenek adalékot. A közölt dokumentumok nem csupán az avantgárd kiadástörténetéhez kapcsolódó forrásként érdekesek; ezek a szövegek hordozzák az avantgárd művészek kommunikációjára jellemző jegyeket is. Kassák és Tzara évtizedeken átívelő levelezése egy nem-hierarchikus együttműködés történetéről számol be. Az 1922 és 1959 között kelt levelek az avantgárd longue durée-jének határait jelölik ki. Az első levél a történeti avantgárd legpezsgőbb éveiből, a húszas évek elejéről származik, míg az ötvenes-hatvanas évek fordulóján kelt levelek az avantgárd „nyugati” művészettörténeti és műpiaci felértékelődéséről és „keleti” elszigeteltségéről számolnak be. Nagyjából ezek az évtizedek jelentik a történeti avantgárd nagy alakjainak alkotói időszakát, legalábbis ami Kassákot, Tzarát és Hans Arpot illeti. Az ötvenes-hatvanas években a történeti avantgárd számos szereplője még élt és dolgozott. Szerepük egyszerre volt a még alkotó művészeké és a szemtanúké. Olyan szemtanúké, akik visszaemlékezéseikkel saját legendájukat is alakították. Az avantgárd nagy öregjeinek az ötvenes-hatvanas években még lezáratlan életműve nem csak ekkorra datált új művek létrehozását jelentette, hanem kiterjedt a két háború közötti képzőművészeti és szépirodalmi portfóliójuk visszamenőleg történő kiegészítésére és módosítására is. A második világháború után a saját életművüket újrafestő és újraíró avantgárd művészek máig megoldandó feladatok elé állították a történeti avantgárddal, a hidegháború kultúrájával és a műpiac e korszakaival foglalkozó szakembereit.

The first exhibition of artworks by Sophie Arp in Brazil was brought and organized by the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo in 1949, under the direction of Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho, who invited Leon Degand to be director of the Museum 1 , The exhibition was named From Figurative to Abstractionism, inaugurated on the 8 th . Leon Degand inaugurates in São Paulo and in the Brazilian context, together with a small exhibition of Alexander Calder organized by Mário Pedrosa in Rio de Janeiro, the first efforts to exhibit abstract art in Brazil. The context of the relation between abstract art and industrialization was contemplated. The catalog also provides a sample of how forces were divided in Brazil at that time. The debate on figurative art and abstraction washeating up. So much that Sergio Milliet was also invited to write in the catalog. Dans son article « L'enfance néolithique », Carl Einstein, critique d'art allemand établi à Paris, reconnaît en 1930 à Jean Arp une position exceptionnelle au sein du mouvement surréaliste parisien. Il estime qu'à la différence d'autres artistes, tel Klee, qui cherchent à concilier marginalité esthétique et beauté ou harmonie avec le monde, seul celui qui est véritablement possédé peut réussir à se venger de tout ce qui le détermine. Selon Einstein, Arp s'entend à détacher les choses de leur monde menaçant pour obtenir, par une fragmentation radicale, une dévalorisation et un anéantissement des impressions immédiates et, partant, de la réalité : « Afin que Arp rencontre M. Arp, tout le reste doit disparaître : le point se révolte contre l'ensemble trouble 1. » Ce sont la primitivité enfantine de l'oeuvre d'Arp et l'isolement, voire la destruction de l'objet, source de polysémie et de dialectique, qui provoquent chez l'observateur un choc libérateur l'arrachant à sa « rente psychique » et constituant pour Einstein un critère absolu de qualité. De fait, au moment où ce dernier écrit son article, Arp est proche des surréalistes : il partage certains de leurs principes artistiques, telles l'évaluation non hiérarchisée des matériaux, l'approche automatique (intuitive) du travail, la référence au hasard comme catégorie esthétique, de même que l'exigence de libération de l'imagination 2.
