HISTORICAL POETRY

The article aims to analyse Kāyam Khā̃ Rāso and to contextualize it against the interplay of cultural influences in early modern India. While earlier research showcased that Jān chose to accentuate just the local qualities of their Rajput lineage, this paper argues that Sufism sacred kingship presents an equally important role in its interpretation. 'The local' of Kāyam Khā̃ Rāso should be understood as both Islamic and Rajput rather than Rajput at the expense of Islamic features. This article examines different facets of the image of the Kāyam Khānī rulers in the text and showcases how they are presented in Rāso. It then uses the analysed image in to argue that their 'locality' belongs simultaneously to both worlds. Their milieu should be regarded as local, Rajput and Islamic, but equally distant from both the so-called Great Tradition of Hinduism, and orthodox Islam. It forms conversation space where contact between traditions can be achieved.

This study sets out to present the combined application of qualitative research and a translation method to elucidate the transcendental aspect of Chairil Anwar's poem entitled Aku. The translation process uses the poem's verbatim format at first, then its interpretation of the content, and finally its inherent ideas by reading behind its lines. The transcending process is achieved through the use of a symbolic beast that permeates the poem's structure. The beast-symbol has twofold functions in the poem, to say that everything beyond the persona-self is unworthy and thus the persona itself is capable of reaching a more divine place or becoming a higher being. Such a powerful symbol further substantiates the presence of a textual being, a voice of a persona that is inherent within the poem's structure, and whose function is to express the persona's wish to transcend into something bigger or higher than himself, which resembles, if not equal to, a godly being.

The  relationship  between  space  and  time  is  quite  complex,  especially when combined with other categories, such as poetry and history. This study takes Messolonghi as a case study and tries to see space in relation to time. in particular, it proposes, on the one hand, to look at Messolonghi as a chronotope and, on the other, to focus on the poetry of  the  period  from 1821  to  1880.  The  contribution  aims  to  create  an  “intellectual  map” of Messolonghi in which we can integrate both the memoirs of the combatants and the discourse of poetry, arguing that historiography and literature use similar methods during this period. This study aims to (1) describe the structure of diction on the poetry "Padamu Jua" by Amir Hamzah using structural analysis method. Poetry "Padamu Jua" is examined through data collection steps; (1) intensive reading of poetry "Padamu Jua", in (2) analyzing the structure of diction and describing it. After going through the process of structural analysis research, it appears that Amir Hamzah's effort to write this poem "Padamu Jua" selects certain words that are closely related to artistic expression of ideas.

Bhasa, a dialect of Hindi2. Of these, his major work Ramcandrika concerns, as the title indicates, the Rama story; the Vigyangita is an adaptation of the Sanskrit allegorical drama Prabodhacandrodaya3. He also wrote four works on poetics, one of which is the Rasikpriya treating the Rasa theory and another the Kavipriya (=KP) dealing with figures of speech (alamkara) in Braj Bhasa. I would like to examine the contents of the latter, comparing them with those of Sanskrit poetics. This will allow us to discuss the position of Kesavdas as a theorist situated in the continuum of Indian literature from the classical to the modern. Some Indian scholars have already remarked that Kesavdas' KP shows considerable influence from Sanskrit poetics, especially from Dandin's Kavyadarsa (=KA) in the chapters concerining artha-alamkara (embellishment of sense)4. In this brief article, I will focus on the uparna (=up.) alamkara (similes) and try to compare the KP with the KA5' in detail in this regard. KA has thirty-two different types of up. beginning with dharma-up. and KP has twenty-two beginning with samsaya-up..There are fifteen up. s of which the names are common in KA and KP. We cannot be sure, however, that the concepts behind up. s which share a name are entirely identical with each other. If the notion of “humanism” is controversial, then the figure of the humanist, person working in the field of humanities, is equally controversial. It is nonetheless possible to find key concepts that join ancient and modern humanism and help understand the humanist’s role in society. They are the centrality of the human condition, the foundation of purely human values, the keeping of human inscrutability, the need to link virtues and knowledge, knowledge and life. The first part of the paper shows these key concepts in the earlier Humanism, highlighting both similarities and differences between Humanism and Enlightenment. The second part examines contemporary humanist associations. These are helpful for studying the nature of humanism and highlighting the fact that being humanist is never just an intellectual activity, an ordinary job, but a choice of life, a reflective way of using knowledge to improve oneself and human cohabitation. Scholars have rightly questioned the periodization of early modern Hindi literature (fourteenth to mid-nineteenth century) into two major thematic and temporal categories, often described as binaries: an early bhaktikāl (era of devotion), and the later rītikāl (era of mannerism). It is now common to understand bhakti and rīti as complementary modes of poetic expression rather than oppositional styles that poets had to identify with entirely. This paper uses the perspective of poet-saints (sants) to argue that, although the sants share many features with the rīti poets in terms of genres and register, they diverge fundamentally from them on the topic of the proper motives of composing verse. The criticism that the sants register with selected rīti themes – conflicts which would later figure in the writings of Hindi literary historians in the nationalist era – can be seen as anticipating the modern bhakti versus rīti distinction.

This article comments on the metapoetic dynamics of the narrative in the novel of the contemporary Austrian writer Norbert Gstrein, The Years to Come (Die kommenden Jahre, 2018) aiming at a more profound understanding of Gstrein’s poetics. We first try to define the term metapoetics drawing on the relatively scarce body of scholarship on the topic and relying primarily on Matthias Freise’s definition. This is followed by a review of the work of Norbert Gstrein, with a special emphasis on the questions of his poetics raised previously both in his novels and essays. Chairil Anwar merupakan seorang penyair legendaris Indonesia yang dikenal sebagai salah satu pelopor kesusasteraan Angkatan ’45. Karya-karyanya seringkali dijadikan sebagai acuan bagi para penyair baru dalam menentukan gaya penulisan puisi mereka. Selain itu, karya-karya monumental Chairil seperti puisi Aku atau Binatang Jalang dan Antara Karawang Bekasi juga sering dijadikan bahan materi lomba setiap peringatan Hari Kemerdekaan Indonesia.
Kelegendarisan Chairil Anwar tersebut juga mendapatkan apresiasi dari para seniman yang bergelut di bidang yang lain. Sjuman Djaya, misalnya, seorang sutradara film kawakan yang juga layak mendapatkan label legendaris karena film-film yang ia ciptakan. Beliau sempat menulis dan menerbitkan sebuah buku naskah film yang berjudul Aku. Adegan-adegan dalam naskah film tersebut diambil dari kisah perjalanan hidup dan karya Chairil Anwar.
Dalam buku naskah film tersebut terdapat beberapa adegan menarik. Adegan-adegan tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa selain berjiwa seorang penyair, Chairil Anwar juga kental dengan darah seorang pejuang. Kisah tentang Chairil Anwar, seorang penyair yang kental dengan jiwa seorang pejuang yang terdapat dalam buku naskah film berjudul Aku itulah yang akan menjadi inti pembahasan dalam artikel kali ini.

Golden Age departures in historiography and theory of history in some ways prepared the ground for modern historical methods and ideas about historical factuality. At the same time, they fed into the period’s own "aesthetic-historical culture" which amalgamated fact and fiction in ways modern historians would consider counterfactual: a culture where imaginative historical prose, poetry and drama self-consciously rivalled the accounts of royal chroniclers and the dispatches of diplomatic envoys; a culture dominated by a notion of truth in which skilful construction of the argument and exemplarity took precedence over factual accuracy. Literature and Historiography in the Spanish Golden Age: The Poetics of History investigates this grey area backdrop of modern ideas about history, delving into a variety of Golden Age aesthetic-historical works which cannot be satisfactorily described as either works of literature or works of historiography but which belong in between these later strictly separate categories.

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji penerjemahan puisi "The Young Dead Soldiers" karya Archibald MacLeish oleh Chairil Anwar dari dua perspektif berbeda yang saling melengkapi, yakni perspektif penulisan ulang (rewriting) dan resepsi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa temuan. Pertama, penerjemah memanipulasi sebagian besar fitur, konteks sosial budaya, ideologi, puitika puisi sumber sehingga penerjemah menentang puitika puisi sumber. Kedua, penerjemah melakukan pembiasan (refraction) intensi MacLeish yang menyuarakan perdamaian sejati dengan penyuaraan semangat perjuangan mempertahankan kemerdekaan dan dukungan terhadap pemerintahan Soekarno yang bertujuan agar bersesuai dengan ideologi majalah Mimbar Indonesia yang didirikan dan dikelola oleh para pejabat pemerintahan Sukarno. Ketiga, penerjemah juga berusaha menampilkan puisi terjemahan sebagai puisi baru yang bersesuai dengan ideologi pengelola rubrik "Kebudajaan" dalam majalah Mimbar Indonesia yang tidak memberikan tempat kepada segala bentuk karya terjemahan. Tujuan akhir manipulasi tersebut adalah agar penerjemahan berterima di kalangan patron (dimuat) dan pembaca (diyakini sebagai karya penerjemah). Keempat, kesepadanan linguistis dan sastrawi tidak dapat menjamin kesuksesan perjemahan sastra sehingga penerjemah memaksimalkan kreativitas untuk membaca infrastruktur sastra yang mencakupi patron, pembaca, ideologi, puitika, ekonomi, politik, sejarah, dan elemen pembangun sistem kesastraan lain demi sebuah keberterimaan. ABSTRACT This study investigates the translation of MacLeish's poem "The Young Dead Soldiers" conducted by Chairil Anwar from two different perspectives, namely rewriting and reception perspectives. The analysis results in several findings. First, the translator manipulates most of the source poem's features, socio-cultural context, ideology, and the poetics of the source poem so that the translator opposes the poetics of the source poem. Second, the translator alters or distorts MacLeish's intention in setting forth universal true peace by conveying the Indonesian's armed struggle to defend the soverenity, independence, and to support to Soekarno's government. Hence, it conforms to the ideology of the "Mimbar Indonesia" magazine, established and run by Sukarno government officials. Third, the translator also tries to present the translated poem as a new poem that is in line with the ideology of the person in chief of the "Kebudajaan" rubric in "Mimbar

“A Poem about Isolation at Home” (Qaṣīda min al-Ḥajr al-Manzilī) by Iyas Nasser, a Palestinian poet.
The poem, which was published by the Palestinian daily, Al-Quds, 13th April 2020, focuses on the human reality during the Coronavirus pandemic, and enhances the public awareness of life value.

This article offers a reappraisal of Nayacandra Sūri’s Sanskrit epic,
Hammīra-mahākāvya, narrating the heroic but unsuccessful struggle of
the warrior-king Hammīra Chauhan of Ranthambhor (r.1283–1301) against the Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khalji (r. 1296–1316). Created at the Gwalior court of Vīrama Tomar (r.1401–1423), this historical court epic stands out in the history of Sanskrit poetry for its tragic ending. Challenging conventional socio-political readings of the epic as a eulogy of an admirable Hindu/Rajput/ksatriya hero, this article foregrounds the poem’s playful and tragic literary logic, arguing that it can be read as a subversive response to more overtly heroic presentations of Hammīra elsewhere. As such, it reveals the poet’s underlying concern to provoke an estrangement from the ideals of ‘Rajputizing’ elites and their obsession with heroic pride and fame. I show this to be the case through a literary analysis of Nayacandra’s poem against its specific historical background, namely the emergence of an independent Tomar kingdom in Gwalior.

Πέρρα Επίκουρης καθηγήτριας Μεσαιωνικής Ιστορίας Πανεπιστήμιο Πελοποννήσου (Καλαμάτα) Η Ρόδος, το «ρόδον της έριδος» Μνήμη David Jacoby (1928-2018) Το παρόν άρθρο εξετάζει την μεσαιωνική ιστορία της Ρόδου κυρίως κατά τα ύστερο-βυζαντινά χρόνια και το πέρασμα στην περίοδο της Ιπποτοκρατίας, με ιδιαίτερες αναφορές στις πηγές και την πρόοδο της σχετικής βιβλιογραφίας. Η μεσαιωνική ιστορία της Ρόδου ταυτίζεται τόσο με την περίοδο που το νησί ανήκε στη Βυζαντινή Αυτοκρατορία όσο και στη μεταγενέστερη εποχή κατά την οποία κυριάρχησε στο νησί των Ρόδων και στα υπόλοιπα ∆ωδεκάνησα το Τάγ-μα των Ιπποτών του Αγίου Ιωάννη ή απλούστερα Ιωαννιτών ή «Οσπιταλιέρων» (δηλ. Ιπποτών του Νοσοκομείου»), όπως αναφέρονται στις ελληνικές πηγές 1. Φυλλομετρώντας τις σελίδες από το μεσαιωνικό παρελθόν της Ρόδου θα στα-θούμε αρχικά στη βυζαντινή περίοδο, εξετάζοντας ενδιαφέρουσες πτυχές της, όπως τις μουσουλμανικές επιδρομές, και ιδιαίτερα το διάστημα της μετάβασης από τη βυζαντινή στη λατινοκρατούμενη Ρόδο, η οποία χρονικά εντοπίζεται στo δεύτερο μισό του 13 ου και στις αρχές του 14 ου αιώνα, αν και θα μπορούσαμε να ισχυριστούμε με βάση τη μελέτη των πρωτοτύπων πηγών της τελευταίας αυτής περιόδου, ότι στην ουσία η εποχή της βυζαντινής εξουσίας στο νησί (και στα πε-ρισσότερα από τα υπόλοιπα ∆ωδεκάνησα) κλείνει με την δυναστεία των Γαβαλά-δων, στα χρόνια c. 1204-c. 1250 μ.Χ. 1. Η παρούσα μελέτη βασίζεται σε αρχικό κείμενο διάλεξης που πραγματοποιήθηκε τον Μάϊο του 2018, κατόπιν πρόσκλησης από τον οργανισμό του Μεσαιωνικού Φεστιβάλ Ρόδου.

Εξετάζονται οι δυνατότητες απάντησης στο διπλό ερώτημα της δραματικότητας των στίχων αφ’ ενός και αφ’ ετέρου της παραστασιμότητας των καβαφικών ποιημάτων. Υποστηρίζεται ότι ο ποιητής πολύ συχνά στήνει σκηνικά και ύστερα τα καταστρέφει. Συνθέτει με επιμέλεια σκηνικούς κόσμους, με προσοχή στις λεπτομέρειες (χρώματα, ανεπαίσθητες κινήσεις, ατμόσφαιρα) και ύστερα τους διαγράφει ή τους εγκαταλείπει ώστε να χαθούν στο σκοτεινό μέρος της ποιητικής αφήγησης ή στη λήθη.
Στη συνέχεια παρατίθενται τα παραστασιογραφικά στοιχεία των καβαφικών ποιημάτων και παρέχεται μια κειμενική ανάλυσή τους με έμφαση στις άμεσες αναφορές των ποιημάτων στον κόσμο του θεάτρου, στις έμμεσες αναφορές της θεματολογίας, στα δραματικά στοιχεία των καβαφικών στίχων (έμμεσες σκηνικές οδηγίες, ομιλιακές πράξεις, λειτουργία της δείξης, παροντική χρόνοι της «αφήγησης», σχηματισμός διαλογικών τμημάτων) και τα μέσα ανοικείωσης (χρήση ηχητικών εφέ, ενσωμάτωση εδαφίων από ξένα έργα, παραθέματα και montage, ςιεωνική χρήση και ανασκευή των παραθεμάτων, χρήση παρένθετου προσωπικού λόγου, παραβατικές εκφράσεις ως coups théâtrals).
Οι αναλύσεις αυτές φιλοδοξούν να συμβάλλουν τόσο στην ευχερέστερη ανθολόγηση των καβαφικών ποιημάτων (εντοπίζοντας τα «δραματικά» έργα, τα καλύτερα «σκηνοθετημένα», τα πιο παραστατικά στην εικονική τους διάσταση ή ακόμα και τα πιο δυναμικά ως προς την πιθανή σκηνική τους εκτέλεση) και στην καλύτερη προσέγγιση ορισμένων κεντρικών ζητημάτων της καβαφικής ποίησης (ισορροπία του αισθησιασμού και της της ειρωνείας, της δωρικότητας και της αμφισημίας, της ρεαλιστικής δραματικότητας και της υφέρπουσας συγκίνησης) όσο και στην εμπεριστατωμένη προετοιμασία θεατρικών παραστάσεων των ποιημάτων, οι οποίες θα ενεργοποιήσουν τις πιθανές εστίες παραστασιμότητάς τους.

Τις τελευταίες μέρες του 1945, αποπλέει από το λιμάνι του Πειραιά το πλοίο Ματαρόα, για να μεταφέρει στη Γαλλία το πνευματικό άνθος της ελληνικής νεολαίας. Μεταξύ των άλλων, στους επιβάτες, υποτρόφους της γαλλικής κυβέρνησης, συγκαταλέγονται οι Καστοριάδης, Αξελός, Παπαϊωάννου, Κρανάκη, Σβορώνος, Ξενάκης. Οι εξόριστοι έμελλε να αναδειχθούν σε κορυφαίες προσωπικότητες της φιλοσοφίας, της τέχνης και της επιστήμης 1 .

Η Αλήθεια στη λογοτεχνία και ο Άλυπος θάνατος, του Κώστα Βούλγαρη Ο όρος «αλήθεια» χρησιμοποιείται συνήθως για να καθορίσουμε ότι ένα γεγονός είναι σύμφωνο με την πραγματικότητα, πιστό σε ένα πρωτότυπο ή πρότυπο γεγονός, άρα αυτομάτως συνδέεται στενά με την έννοια της αυθεντικότητας. Το κοινώς αντιληπτό αντίθετο της αλήθειας είναι το ψεύδος. Όμως, σε μια εποχή όπως η δική μας, όπου η σύγχρονη πραγματικότητα έχει καταστεί αναγκαστικά πολυδιάστατη, συχνά κατακερματισμένη, η έννοια της αλήθειας αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό 'στοιχείο' διερεύνησης, μελέτης και συζήτησης, και μάλιστα σε πολλά πεδία, όπως η φιλοσοφία, η τέχνη και η θρησκεία. Σύμφωνα με τον Χάιντεγκερ, η αλήθεια υπήρξε ανέκαθεν μια έννοια 'υπό αμφισβήτηση', βασίζοντας την άποψή του αυτή στο ότι το αρχικό νόημα της συγκεκριμένης έννοιας στην αρχαία Ελλάδα ήταν το 'μη αποκεκρυμμένο', ή η αποκάλυψη των όσων προηγουμένως ήταν κρυμμένα. Από αυτή την άποψη, η αντίληψη της αλήθειας ως αδιαμφισβήτητα ορθής, αποτελεί μια μεταγενέστερη απόδοση της αρχικής της έννοιας, μια εξέλιξη που για τον γερμανό φιλόσοφο εμφανίζεται στον λατινικό όρο "Veritas". Και γεγονός είναι ότι υπάρχουν αρκετές θεωρίες και απόψεις για την αμφιλεγόμενη αυτή έννοια της «Αλήθειας» μεταξύ λογίων, φιλοσόφων, καταλήγοντας, εν πολλοίς, ότι η γλώσσα και οι λέξεις είναι ένα μέσο με το οποίο οι άνθρωποι μεταδίδουν πληροφορίες μεταξύ τους και πως η μέθοδος που χρησιμοποιείται για να προσδιοριστεί τι είναι "αλήθεια" και τι όχι, ορίζεται ως το κριτήριο της αλήθειας. Αλλά στη λογοτεχνία; Τι ακριβώς συμβαίνει; Ποια είναι η «Αλήθεια» στη λογοτεχνία; Σε ποιο βαθμό και με ποια μέσα αναδεικνύει αυτή την ίδια την αλήθεια του ανθρώπου, δεδομένου ότι στηρίζεται σε πολύ μεγάλο βαθμό στο φανταστικό και τη μυθοπλασία; Σύμφωνα με τον Αριστοτέλη, η έννοια της αλήθειας, δεν βρίσκεται ούτε στο νου (ἐν διανοίᾳ), ούτε στα ίδια τα γεγονότα, αλλά στη συνάντηση των δύο και στον διάλογο μεταξύ τους, ενώ ο Σαίξπηρ, εξ ονόματος του Φάλσταφ στο έργο του 'Ερρίκος ΙV' αναρωτιέται, «Άραγε, είναι αληθινή η αλήθεια;», μια φράση που μαρτυρά την αντίληψή του μεγάλου δημιουργού ότι η αλήθεια είναι μια ιδέα αμφισβητούμενη, μια έννοια που επιδέχεται κι άλλες ερμηνείες τις οποίες οφείλουμε να αναζητήσουμε. Ενώ και πιο πρόσφατα ο Τζ. Μπαρνς, σχολιάζοντας το έργο του Σαρτρ με τίτλο «Qu'est-ce que la literature?», που πραγματεύεται τις διάφορες έννοιες που την καθορίζουν, ανάμεσα σε αυτές και την αλήθεια, είπε (το αναφέρω παραφραστικά) «Θα μπορούσα να πω ότι ο καλύτερος τρόπος να πει κανείς την αλήθεια στη λογοτεχνία είναι μέσω της καταγραφής μεγάλων, ελκυστικών, καλά διατεταγμένων ψεμάτων που αποκαλύπτουν ή λένε περισσότερη αλήθεια από οποιαδήποτε άλλη καταγραφή πραγματικών γεγονότων.» Αυτή ακριβώς την ιδέα, λοιπόν, ότι η λογοτεχνία παρουσιάζει την αλήθεια ακόμα και μέσα από 'διατεταγμένα' ψέματα, ή όπως τις χαρακτηρίζει 'πλαστογραφημένες' αλήθειες, αποτελεί το περιεχόμενο του εξαιρετικού βιβλίου του συγγραφέα και κριτικού λογοτεχνίας Κώστας Βούλγαρη που εύστοχα τιτλοφορείται «Η Αλήθεια και ο άλυπος θάνατος». Ένα μικρό, αλλά περιεκτικότατο βιβλίο που για άλλη μια φορά έρχεται να γεμίσει ένα ευδιάκριτο κενό στην σύγχρονη ελληνική πραγματικότητα της λογοτεχνίας, αναφερόμενος σε πλείστα παραδείγματα από τη λογοτεχνική μας παράδοση, αλλά και τη σύγχρονη λογοτεχνία, ξένη και εγχώρια, για να μας φέρει αντιμέτωπους απέναντι στο τι ακριβώς συνιστά την αλήθεια σε ένα λογοτεχνικό αφήγημα, ακόμα κι αν αυτό στηρίζεται στον μύθο, την υπερβολή ή και το 'ψεύδος' ακόμα. Και βέβαια να μας φέρει αντιμέτωπους με το άλυτο αυτό αίνιγμά της, τον μεταφορικό της θάνατο. Έτσι, προσεγγίζονται και αναλύονται ανάμεσα σε άλλα και συναφείς προς αυτήν έννοιες, που συναντάμε συχνά πυκνά σε ένα λογοτεχνικό κείμενο, όπως λόγου χάρη η 'ενάργεια' του κειμένου, η αληθοφάνεια, η γνησιότητα, η διαύγεια, η συνάφεια, η σαφήνεια, η παραστατικότητα, όροι που χρησιμοποιούμε επίσης για να κρίνουμε και αξιολογήσουμε ένα έργο, χωρίς στη ουσία να συνδέουμε την χρηστικότητα των όρων αυτών με την 'αποκάλυψη' ή την ανάδειξη της ίδιας της αλήθειας, εκείνης που προσφέρει ή επιχειρεί να προσφέρει το κείμενο. «Η Αλήθεια και ο άλυτος θάνατος» είναι ένα αφήγημα στιβαρό, που στηρίζεται στην πεποίθηση ότι η λογοτεχνία ως κοινωνική τέχνη και πρακτική κατέχει, ανάμεσα σε άλλες, σημαντικό μερίδιο στην κατανόηση της ανθρώπινης φύσης/ύπαρξης και ότι, παρά την υποκειμενικότητά της, αναζητά με τους δικούς της τρόπους προκειμένου να 'καθρεφτίσει' την αλήθεια της ζωής, αφού κύριο αντικείμενό της είναι ο ίδιος ο άνθρωπος και οι συμπεριφορές του σε μια δεδομένη στιγμή, είτε αυτή είναι ιστορική, κοινωνική ή προσωπική. Ένα βιβλίο που πραγματεύεται την ουσία της «αλήθειας» στις διάφορες εκφάνσεις και διαστάσεις της, και κυρίως, τη σχέση της με την ιστορία και την ιστορική μνήμη, καθώς και την αναζήτησής της, μέσα από εμβληματικά κείμενα της παλαιότερης, αλλά και της σύγχρονης λογοτεχνίας, προκειμένου να ρίξει φως στην ίδια την περιπέτεια της λογοτεχνίας, μέσα στον ιστορικό χρόνο, πάντα σε συνάρτηση με την εν λόγω έννοια που πραγματεύεται. Με επιλεγμένα παραδείγματα από τον Όμηρο, τον Θουκυδίδη, τον Καρτέσιο, τον Γκαίτε, τον Ροΐδη και τον Μπόρχες έως σήμερα, ανοίγει τον δρόμο για το τι συνιστά τέχνη και τι τεχνική στη λογοτεχνία ('η τέχνη υπάρχει για να μπορούμε να ανακτήσουμε την αίσθηση της ζωής', σελ. 197), για το 'ανοικειωτικό' στοιχείο της λογοτεχνίας, που πετυχαίνεται μέσα από την άρτια τεχνική -και που για αρκετούς αποτελεί ακόμα terra incognita-για την εγκυρότητα ή μη των μαρτυριών σε ένα ιστορικό μυθιστόρημα, για την αλήθεια της λογοτεχνίας που βρίσκεται σε συνεχή διάλογο με την αλήθεια της ιστορίας, των πεποιθήσεων ή των προκαταλήψεων του ίδιου του αναγνώστη, ακόμα και την πρότερη αναγνωστική του εμπειρία. Folklores are narrative songs, sung to elaborate the noble deeds of legendry heroes that mostly raise them to the position of local deities or they are commemorated as the eternal and immortal beings. Sometimes a certain purpose resonates in folklores on festive occasions in local traditions and customs. Even during rites and rituals folklores play significantly important role to correspond the sense of social interaction and consciousness which is carried forward from one generation to another, so the thoughts of folk are elicited in varied forms in the Indian culture. The study will reflect on the semiotic properties that present discourse analysis on the idea to protect the nation's sovereignty or region's integrity. The study will focus on the relevance that how warriors' brave deeds in history till date have been a source of inspiration for young Indians. It will examine the hardcore level of inherent instinctual loyalty of Freedom-Fighters towards their motherland, which is significant to protect nation's totality and integrity with one's martyrdom spirit. The aim is to interpret that patriotic drive which has been currently found missing in the present countrymen of India.

Ο Κάλβος είχε μια πολυτάραχη ζωή, ιδιαίτερα στα νεανικά του χρόνια. Τον βρίσκουμε σε διάφορες ευρωπαϊκές πόλεις για μεγάλα διαστήματα της ζωής του. Η ζωή του Σολωμού και του Παλαμά έχει λιγότερες εξωτερικές διακυμάνσεις και εντάσεις, βαίνει όμως παράλληλα προς την εξέλιξη του ποιητικού τους έργου, το οποίο μπορούμε να παρακολουθήσουμε σκαλί σκαλί στην ανοδική του εξέλιξη ανιχνεύοντας ταυτόχρονα βιογραφικές λεπτομέρειες που το φωτίζουν.

Augustan poetry is perhaps the most classic of all European classics. Its literary
vision of gradual advance (back) to Golden-Age peace and prosperity has taken
center stage in the process of defining European humanism. Post-Augustan epic
poets like Lucan, however, also seem to doubt whether humanity can be taught
by letters. This has often been interpreted as anti-classicist and, hence, antihumanistic.
However, can the ideals of civilizing literature, in fact, be proven
wrong? Is there no other way to deal with the challenges of humanism than to give
in? A promising interpretive approach to this question is studying the specific
metapoetic potential of historical poetry. Literary characters of such poems can
‘realistically’ appear as readers; often, their success or failure may be directly
related to the literary education they show. This opens up a space for a particular
kind of intertextuality. In acutely reflecting the impact of their reference texts,
historical epic poems have made a distinctive contribution to the classification of
the classics, i.e., the defense of humanity.

Η ποίηση τα τελευταία χρόνια, μέσα σε μία ελιτίστικη εκδοχή, αναζητώντας τα "μεγάλα" θέματα, μοιάζει να έχει εξοβελίσει το χιούμορ, την ειρωνεία και τον αυτοσαρκασμό. Μοιάζει σα να θεωρείται από πολλούς ποιητές ότι το γέλιο σε ένα ποίημα δεν αρμόζει ή δεν βοηθά στην ανάδειξη του "μεγάλου" και "σοβαρού" θέματος που πραγματεύεται ο/η δημιουργός. Κι όμως ξεχνούν ότι η ειρωνεία έχοντας ως βασικό χαρακτηριστικό της την αντίθεση ανάμεσα στο φαινόμενο και το πραγματικό, προκαλεί από μόνη της συγκίνηση, γιατί λειτουργεί διαμέσου της φαινομενικής απουσίας. Άλλωστε, το αρχαιοελληνικό δράμα στηρίζεται ακριβώς στην τραγική ειρωνεία, όπως και η ίδια η εποχή μας. Λησμονούμε συχνά πως η ειρωνεία διατρέχει όλη τη Νεοελληνική ποίηση, σχεδόν από τη γέννησή της.

Banyak orang mengenalnya sebagai pribadi kharismatik di masa nya. Ia adalah seorang penyair kenamaan yang sajak-sajaknya masing menggaung di pikiran dan banyak acara kebangsaan. Sajak " Aku " " Diponegoro " dan " Karawang Bekasi " tentu kita hafal dengan baik sebagai sebenar-benarnya api. Chairil, atau biasa dipanggil ninik adalah anak dari pasangan Toloes bin Manan dan Siti Saleha. Ia dilahirkan di lingkungan keluarga berada di Medan. Sejak kecil menerima kondisi yang serba nyaman dan terpenuhi membuatnya sudah akrab dengan dunia literasi dan wanita. Menjadi chairil yang setiap hari bergumul dengan buku membuat pengetahuannya bisa dibilang lebih dari anak seusianya. Anak anjing itu berkembang menjadi binatang jalang kelak. Semenjak orangtuanya cerai ia pergi ke Batavia bersama ibunya. Chairil pada 1942 sudah menempati Batavia dengan segala kehidupan perkotaannya. Dalam sebuah catatan mengatakan bahwa Chairil bias dibilang adalah salah seorang bohemian pertama di Jakarta. Bukan karena ia tidak mampu secara finansial, tapi ia memang suka dalam kehidupannya yang begitu, orang yang sangat urakan dan bebas dalam artian tidak terikat dunia material. Wanita dan revolusi Indonesialah yang titik tuju pandangan mata sayu chairil. Bahkan dalam tema sajak maupun prosa chairil selalu bertemakan hal ini. Sesuatu yang menarik adalah pada angkatan 45 yang menjadi tokoh sentral adalah Chairil sendiri. Ia disebut sebagai tokoh sentral bukan karena tema kepenulisannya saja, melainkan merupakan penyair yang sering kali turun langsung dalam proses revolusi negara ini. Pribadi yang selalu menggebu dalam banyak hal. Relasinya banyak mulai dari tokoh birokrasi pemerintah seperti Sjahrir, pelukis seperti Affandi dan banyak lagi. Menjadi penyair di era baru lahirnya negara dengan diversitas sangat tinggi tentu bahasa Indonesia mengalami ujian yang sangat berat. Bahasa ini harus lulus uji kesatuan dan penyatuan. Di era ini sebenarnya merupakan era gelap kepenyairan Indonesia dikarenakan penguasaan bahasa Indonesia yang kurang oleh para penyair sehingga menciptakan banyak kesalahan arti dan kurang tepatnya penggunaan bahasa sendiri. Chairil tampil bukan hanya membawa semangat tapi juga menggunakan kemampuannya menyerap bahasanya yang sangat kuat lagi tepat. Ia merupakan segelintir orang yang menguasai bahasa Indonesia secara rapi dan cermat. Bahkan menurut Sapardi Djoko Damono, Chairil merupakan orang yang mampu menyatukan rakyat lewat jalan bahasa Indonesia yang ia kuasai ini. Dengan karya-karyanya terbukti ia mampu memberikan suatu bentuk keindahan dalam bahasa baru ini. Di era baru bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa persatuan, banyak penyair yang masih menggunakan bahasa daerahnya dalam kepenyairan sehingga bahasa Indonesia sendiri masih belum kuat akar pada penggunannya. Disinilah chairil sebagai tokoh sentral mampu merangkul kesemua orang untuk menggunakan dan menjunjung bahas persatuan kita ini. Dampaknya kita dapat menggunakan bahasa Indonesia hampir di setiap daerah dengan kebanggan yang tinggi. Yang menarik lagi dari chairil adalah ia mampu menambahkan kata-kata asing dan menggunakannya pada sajak sehingga sajaknya

In the winter of 2014-15 I began translating the work of Norwegian-American poet Julius B. Baumann (1869-1923). Reading up on the Nordic languages (and relying extensively on digital copies of turn-of-the-century Norwegian-English dictionaries) I translated ten pieces from Baumann’s Fra Vidderne: New Poems (Augsburg Publishing House, 1915; Google Books). As far as I know, this is the first time these poems have appeared in English.
