We report the description of a new species of freshwater flatworm of the genus Dendrocoelum inhabiting the chemoautotrophic ecosystem of Movile Cave as well as several sulfidic wells in the nearby town of Mangalia, thus representing the first planarian species fully described from this extreme biotope. The species was also found in non-sulfidic wells localized in villages in the vicinity of the cave with a total of nine examined populations. Dendrocoelum obstinatum Stocchino & Sluys, sp. nov. represents the first triclad being able to live in both sulfidic and non-sulfidic waters. Among the fauna of the Mangalia sulfidic ecosystem it is the only species found also outside of the current boundaries of the sulfidic aquifer. One possible explanation of this peculiar distribution is that the new species is limited to the old boundaries of the sulfidic aquifer. Kandungan neoblast dalam tubuh planaria merupakan penyebab planaria dapat mengganti bagian tubuh yang hilang atau rusak melalui proses regenerasi. Meskipun demikian, banyak faktor diketahuhi mempengaruhi kemampuan regenerasi, diantaranya nutrisi, fisiologis tubuh serta faktor fisika kimia lingkungan.

Phylum Platyhelminthes Platyhelminthes (dalam bahasa yunani , platy= pipih,helminthes = cacing) atau cacing pipih adalah kelompok hewan yang struktur tubuhnya sedah lebih maju dibandingkan porifera dan Coelenterata.Tubuh Platyhelminthes memiliki tiga lapisan sel (triploblastik), yaitu ekstoderm , mesoderm, dan endoderm. Ciri-Ciri Memiliki tiga lapisan tubuh (triploblastik) Tidak memiliki rongga tubuh (aselomata) Simetri bilateral Memiliki sistem syaraf (tangga tali) berupa Ganglion anterior Sistem pencernaan satu lubang Tidak memiliki sitem sirkulasi , respirasi , dan ekskresi Hidup di air tawar / laut , tempat lembab , atau di dalam tubuh hewan lain. Platyhelminthes juga tidak memiliki sistem respirasi dan eksresi.Pernapasan dilakukan secara difusi oleh seluruh sel tubuhnya.Proses ini terjadi karena tubuhnya yang pipih.Sistem eksresi pada kelompok Platyhelminthes tertentu berfungsi untuk menjaga kadar air dalam tubuh. Kelompok Platyhelminthes tertentu memiliki sistem saraf tangga tali.Sistem saraf tangga taki terdiri dari sepasang simpul saraf dengan sepasang tali saraf yang memanjang dan bercabang-cabang melintang seperti tangga.Organ reproduksi jantan dan organ betina Platyhelminthes terdapat dalam satu individu sehingga disebut hewan hemafrodit.Alat reproduksi terdapat pada bagian ventral tubuh. CACING PITA (CESTODA) Ciri Cestoda Semua anggota cestoda memiliki struktur pipih dan tertutup oleh kutikula Cestoda juga disebut sebagai cacing pita karena bentuknya pipih panjang seperti pita. Tubuhnya terdiri dari bagian anterior yang disebut skoleks, leher (strobilus), dan rangkaian proglotid. Panjang bisa antara 2-3m di usus halus Pada skoleks terdapat alat pengisap. Skoleks pada jenis Cestoda tertentu selain memiliki alat pengisap, juga memiliki kait (rostelum) Rostellum berfungsi untuk melekat pada organ tubuh inangnya. Dibelakang skoleks pada bagian leher terbentuk proglotid. Setiap proglotid mengandung organ kelamin jantan (testis) dan organ kelamin betina (ovarium). Tiap proglotid dapat terjadi fertilisasi sendiri.dan mempunyai rumah tangga sendiri (metameri) Makin ke posterior segmen makin melebar dan setiap segmen (proglotid) merupakan satu individu dan bersifat hermafrodit. Proglotid yang dibuahi (yang matang) terdapat di bagian posterior / paling bawah tubuh cacing. Proglotid dapat melepaskan diri (strobilasi) dan keluar dari tubuh inang utama bersama dengan tinja. Cacing ini biasanya hidup sebagai parasit dalam usus vertebrata dan tanpa alat pencernaan. Sistem eksresi terdiri dari saluran pengeluaran yang berakhir dengan sel api. Sistem saraf sama seperti Planaria dan cacing hati, tetapi kurang berkembang. Cestoda bersifat parasit karena menyerap sari makanan melalui permukaan tubuhnya secara osmosis Penyerapan sari makanan terjadi dari usus halus inangnya melalui seluruh permukaan proglotid Jadi sari makanan diserap langsung oleh seluruh permukaan tubuhnya karena cacing ini tidak memiliki mulut dan system pencernaan , skolex hanya untuk menempelkan dirinya ke usus Manusia dapat terinfeksi Cestoda saat memakan daging hewan yang dimasak tidak sempurna, belum matang Daging hewan hospes (inang perantara) yang mengandung Cysticercus Inang pernatara Cestoda adalah hewan ternak misalnya Sapi yang tubuhnya terdapat Cisticercus jenis Taenia saginata yang ada pada ototnya dan Babi yang tubuhnya terdapat Cisticercus jenis Taenia solium yang ada pada ototnya. di Kedua ternak itu Cacing pita hanya sementara terjadi cyclus ditubuhnya hingga membentuk Cysticercus Jadi di sapi dan babi tidak dijumpai dala bentuk Dewasa (yang dewasa di tubuh manusia) hanya bentuk larva di Ternak berurutan cyclusnya : Telur-Oncosfer-Hexacant-Cysticercus (TO -H-C), TO -H-ada di Ususnya dan C(cysticercus) meninggalkan usus ke otot (daging) Agar kita tidak kena Taeniasis ini dimasak yang matang dagingnya, dan manusia yang kena Taeniasis janganbuang air besar ke lingkungan , karena Faecesnya yang ada telurnya sangat kuat di lingkungan yang mungkin di rumput akan dimakan sam ternak tersebut. pemberian obat anti cacing sangat dianjurkan. Obat-obatan ini bisa diminum golongan obat anticacing albendazole dosis sehari 500 mg lebih baik , biasanya dosis 250 cacing mati dalam bentuk utuh Contoh cacing golongan Cestoda ini adalah Taenia saginata (dalam usus manusia) di bawa oleh sapi Taenia solium (dalam usus manusia) dibawa oleh babi Choanotaenia infudibulum (dalam usus ayam) Echinococcus granulosus (dalam usus anjing) Diphyllobothrium latum (menyerang manusia melalui inang katak , ikan, Cyclops Udang udangan) Hymnelopsis nana (di usus manusia , tikus tanpa inang perantara) Taenia solium Taenia solium dewasa hidup parasit pada saluran pencernaan manusia (usus). Inang perantaranya (hospes intermediet) adalah babi. Tubuhnya berbentuk pipih, ukuran panjang tubuhnya dapat mencapai 3m. struktur tubuh cacing ini terdiri atas kepala (skoles) dan rangkaian segmen yang masing-masing disebut proglotid. Pada bagian kepala terdapat 4 alat isap (Rostrum) dan alat kait (Rostellum) yang dapat melukai dinding usus. Disebelah belakang skoleks terdapat leher/daerah perpanjangan (strobilus). Taenia saginata Taenia saginata dewasa hidup sebagai parasit dalam usus manusia. Cacing ini masuk kedalam tubuh manusia melalui perantara sapi (sebagai hospes intermediet). Skoleks taenia saginata terdapatrostrum tetapi tidak mempunyai Rostelum (kait). Jenis cacing ini kurang berbahaya bagi manusia dibandingkan taenia solium. Gejala atau tanda terinfeksi cacing pita antara lain : perut terasa mulas dan mual, kadang perih dan tajam menusuk-nusuk tetapi akan hilang sesudah makan Selain itu muka pucat sering pusing kurang nafsu makan feses berlendir
