Educational Buildings

Auditory comfort in educational structures directly affects the quality of education. Acoustics, which must be designed well for the correct transmission of sound in educational spaces where intensive information transfer and oral discourse occurs, is a prominent discipline that ensures the intelligibility of the lesson and increases the efficiency of education. In this thesis, sample classrooms from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Fındıklı Campus and Istanbul Technical University Taşkışla Campus were selected in order to conduct room acoustics measurements and carry out simulation studies using three-dimensional models. Using these methods, conditions regarding acoustic comfort were determined and suggestions were made to improve the current situation. Within the scope of this study, an initial literature review was conducted, similar studies were examined, the purpose and method of this study were determined. In the following sections of this study, the requirements of educational spaces were identified and the parameters specific to auditory comfort were explained. While conducting room acoustics measurements inside the universities that were previously mentioned, classrooms’ plans were recorded and the classrooms which were selected according to their variables were modelled in the computer environment.  Surface materials and absorption coefficients observed on-site were processed on 3D models and room acoustics results were obtained using Ease 4.4 simulation software. The results obtained by simulation were compared with the results obtained by acoustic measurements method and the simulated results were calibrated according to the measurements results. It was aimed to obtain the optimal room acoustics parameters by suggesting improvements in classrooms where auditory comfort was deemed inadequate. In the conclusion section, as a result of these improvement and analysis studies, acoustic principles suggestions for university classrooms were discussed.

Eğitim yapıları; öğrencilerin dinleme, anlama ve öğrenme faaliyetlerini gerçekleştirdiği alanlardır. Gürültü, öğrencilerin odaklanmasına ve öğrenmesine engel olmaktadır. Türkiye'de yürürlükte olan "Binaların Gürültüye Karşı Korunması Yönetmeliği" ile akustik açıdan olumsuzlukların önüne geçebilmek adına bir denetim sağlanmaya çalışılmaktadır. Belirli sınıflandırmalar altında sınır değerler belirlenerek, bazı şartların sağlanması zorunluluğu getirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada dersliklerde sağlıklı bir eğitimin sürdürülebilmesi için gürültü kontrolü konusu ele alınmış olup, yürürlükte olan yönetmelik referans alınarak mevcut bir eğitim yapısında bulunan dersliklerin akustik açıdan gerekli şartları sağlayıp sağlamadığı değerlendirilmiştir. Yapı dışı gürültü ve arka plan gürültüsü ölçümleri yapılıp, yapı kabuğu yönetmelikte belirtilen hesaplama metoduna uygun bir akustik simülasyon programında değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar ile dersliklerin mevcut akustik performansı, yönetmeliğe göre ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Yoğun trafik gürültüsüne maruz kalan sınıflarda yapı kabuğunun dış gürültüye karşı zayıf kalması sonucu arka plan gürültü düzeyi istenilen değerlerden uzak kalmış ve yapı dış kabuğunda iyileştirme yapılması önerilmiştir.

Educational buildings are the basic institutions that affect the development and socialization of children and have an important place in children's lives. Spaces in educational buildings should be supportive so that children can develop their capacity to express their creative potential. Various international studies show that there are negative effects such as the lack of diversity in children's space type and activities, and restrictive school rules imposed on the use of spaces in educational buildings. These studies show that children cannot benefit from informal education spaces as they wish and that these environments do not sufficiently support children's self-directed activities. In this study, it will be tried to analyze how the organization of in-between spaces, which can best support the informal learning activities of alpha generation students, affects learning and social interaction in primary education structures. In the context of the literature review, it has been determined that there is a limited number of researches about the in-between spaces that will support informal education, although it is generally focused on the research of formal education spaces in primary education buildings. In the context of this study, the aim is to investigate the methods used in studies related to in-between spaces by scanning the existing literature on intermediate spaces and informal learning spaces. Behavioral mapping, walking tours and focus group interviews are the main methods used in research in this field. It is thought to contribute to future research on the theoretical framework to be created with the findings to be obtained within the scope of this study. Eğitim; kültür aktarımını ve toplumsallaşmada rol oynayan, bir ülkenin gelişmişlik düzeyini belirleyen en önemli etkenlerdendir. Eğitimin en temel amacı gelecek kuşakları toplumsal varlık olan: insani duygular, düşünceler, alışkanlıklar, dini görüşler, ahlaki bakış açıları ve gelenekler ile ilgili bilinçlendirmektedir. Her ne kadar geleneklerin eğitim önünde bir tabu olduğu görüşü yaygın olsa da kültüründen ve toplumundan uzaklaşmış bir eğitim anlayışı eğitim kelimesinin doğasına ters bulunmaktadır. Ancak gelenekler ve toplumsallaşma zamanla devinen, değişen bir olgu olarak görülmelidir. Buna paralel olarak öğrenen bireylerin alışkanlıkları, öğrenme davranışları kuşaktan kuşağa değişiklik göstermektedir. Bu noktada eğitimin yeni kuşağı sistemli bir şekilde toplumsallaştırma aracı olduğu söylenebilir. Bu doğrultuda öğrenme alışkanlıklarının kuşaktan kuşağa değişiklik gösterdiği ve eğitim yapılarının da bu ihtiyaçlara cevap verip veremeyeceği tartışmalarını ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Gelecek nesillerin içinde bulunduğu ilk toplumsal örgütler olan eğitim yapıları, öğrencilerin gerektiği için değil, kendi istediği için çaba göstermelerini sağlayabilen mekknlar´ olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu mekknların öğrenciyi motive ederek öğrenilenleri belleğe kaydetme oranını arttırması, grup çalışması ve toplumda yer edinmeye katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir. Birey olma algısının en yüksek düzeyde kendini gösterdiği lise döneminde ise bu yapıların etkinliği hiç olmadığı kadar önemli hale gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada; zaman içerisinde, kuşaktan kuşağa değişen öğrenme davranışlarını inceleyerek eğitim yapılarının bu değişimine ayak uydurup uyduramadığını incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Bildiri kapsamında öğrenme kuramları ve alternatif öğrenme yaklaşımları ortaya konarak, Y kuşağı ve Z kuşağının öğrenme davranışları açıklanmakta, her iki kuşağın (Y ve Z kuşağı) öğrenme davranışları karşılaştırılmakta ve bu yaklaşımları destekleyen mimari ihtiyaç programları ve donatılar incelenmektedir. 2015 sonrası Türkiye’de tasarlanan lise yapıları analiz edilerek, hangi ihtiyaçlara cevap verip, hangi ihtiyaçlar noktasında eksik kaldıkları araştırılarak, Y kuşağı ve şu anda en genci 10 yaşında olan Z kuşağının öğrenme davranışlarındaki farklılıklar üzerinden incelenmektedir.

Education is one of the most significant factors in terms of cultural unity and socialization for establishment of a country’s development. The main aim of education is to give the perception of humanity, traditions, religious and ethical basis. Even though, traditions are commonly seen as an obstruct towards education, an education that has been separated from culture and community, contradicts with its meaning. Nonetheless, “culture” and “socialization” changes and develops gradually. So, learners’ behaviors are changing from one generation to another. It can be said that the education is the main tool to systematically bring the next generation socialization skills.. At this point, the arguments of development in design of educational buildings’ efficiency in terms of next generations’ different learning behaviors, are coming to light. Educational buildings should motivate the students to learn, rather than compel. For such manners, educational buildings should answer some spatial needs to contribute the students’ group work, learning abilities and social skills. So, the educational building models and theories should be examined in detail to seek out the pros and cons for different user characteristics. Through these researches, it has been seen that some plan models are promoting the authoritative learning that limits the learning spaces to avoid the loss of focus in learners and some are promoting the relaxing and socializing spaces as much as learning spaces because their designers are thinking socializing as an important branch of learning.. To examine these potentials, Turkish high schools are chosen as research subjects because it is the era of a students’ life which is the most significant period in terms of personal development and identity seek. In this research, high schools’ development following to change in learning behaviors in generations are questioned. A variety of learning theories and alternative education systems are analyzed. Behaviors of Gen Z and Gen Y are viewed and compared. Considering to these, it has seen that Gen Z’s learning habits are more related with socializing. On the contrary of gen Y’s authoritarian expectations, gen Z need more flexible spaces and various spaces that gives them a chance to choose. They seek for the spaces that can be formed by different activities as much as they need classrooms, ateliers and conference halls. The youngest member of gen Z is 10 years old so, right now, the high schools’ main users are considered as gen Z. The need in architectural programme and spatial qualities are investigated. Following to that, high school buildings in Turkey that are designed after 2015 are analyzed in terms of the different learning behaviors between gen Y and gen Z. Their deficiencies and developments through time is examined.

The indoor environment in non-university classrooms is one of the most analyzed problems in the thermal comfort and indoor air quality (IAQ) areas. Traditional schools in southern Europe are usually equipped with heating-only systems and naturally ventilated, but climate change processes are both progressively increasing average temperatures and lengthening the warm periods. In addition, air renewal is relayed in these buildings to uncontrolled infiltration and windows’ operation, but urban environmental pollution is exacerbating allergies and respiratory conditions among the youth population. In this way, this exposure has a significant effect on both the academic performance and the general health of the users. Thus, the analysis of the occupants’ noticed symptoms and their perception of the indoor environment is identified as a potential complementary tool to a more comprehensive indoor comfort assessment. U ovom radu se istražuju nastanak i projektantske odlike dva arhitektonska ostvarenja u Banjaluci i Sremskoj Kamenici, s kraja šezdesetih i prve polovine sedamdesetih godina XX veka, novosadske arhitekte Tatjane Vanjifatov Savić (1929–2009), sagledana i tumačena kroz svojevrsni model arhitekture solidarnosti kojom je trebalo da se doprinose inkluzivnom razvoju (socijalističkog) društva i urbanih sredina. Iako pojava darivanja arhitektonskog projekta/dela ima znatno dužu tradiciju, i obično se vezuje za vladarske poduhvate, razne izraze zahvalnosti i zadužbinarstvo, kontekst čovečanstva posle Drugog svetskog rata i jačanje socijalnih stremljenja uticali su na različite vidove solidarnosti, institucionalizovane pomoći i podrške. Osnivanje Ujedinjenih nacija, Pokreta nesvrstanih i drugih multilateralnih i međunarodnih organizacija koje su imale za cilj održavanje međunarodnog mira i bezbednosti, doprinelo je globalnom širenju programa i mreže ekspertskih timova obučenih za raznovrsne projekte koji imaju za cilj pomoć ugroženim područjima ili ekonomski nerazvijenim zemljama i oblastima. Obezbeđivanje adekvatnog stanovanja i osnovnih socijalnih usluga, nadasve vaspitno-obrazovnih i zdravstvenih, predstavljalo je jednu od ishodišta modernosti i manifestaciju humanističkih utemeljenja arhitekture.

U osnovama i težnjama socijalističkih društava, kakvo je bilo i jugoslovensko, solidarnost i uzajamna pomoć bili su inkorporirani u delovanje mnogih društvenih i radnih organizacija. U tom smislu zapaženu ulogu su imala projektantska i građevinska preduzeća. Zadaci arhitekata, urbanista i celokupne građevinske operative, od posleratne obnove zemlje do novih strateških opredeljenja u domenu planiranja i izgradnje, bili su podstaknuti težnjama za sveobuhvatnom modernizacijom i društvenim boljitkom. Potreba za arhitektonskim intervencijama se naročito ispoljavala u slučaju saniranja šteta posle elementarnih nepogoda, kao i usled podrške socijalnim programima i projektima koji su imali za cilj podsticanje i jačanje društvenih ustanova. Realizacije Vanjifatov Savić u dve različite sredine upravo su primer arhitekture solidarnosti – projekat univerzitetskog kompleksa u Banjaluci poklon je SAP Vojvodine gradu na Vrbasu nakon razornog zemljotresa 1969. godine, dok je projekat S.O.S. Dečijeg sela u Sremskoj Kamenici poklon arhitekata ogranku istoimene međunarodne organizacije radi realizacije prvog takvog sela za decu bez roditelja u Jugoslaviji. Kroz ova dva projekta Vanjifatov Savić pokazuje kako arhitektura može biti katalizator za rešavanje bitnih društvenih pitanja, istovremeno naglašavajući važnost kolektivne svesti o solidarnosti, ali i ulozi arhitekata u projektima od društvene važnosti. Arhitektura vaspitno-obrazovnih objekata Vanjifatov Savić, obeležena racionalnim modernističkim pristupom, ukazuje na uvažavanje lokalnog konteksta i programskih specifičnosti, omogućujući istovremeno i transformativni pristup oblikovanju građene sredine.

One of the barriers to the rapid transition of societies toward a more sustainable future is a scarcity of field experts. Members of scientific and professional communities believe that this obstacle could be overcome by supplementing the decisions of non-experts with artificial intelligence. To examine this opportunity, this study examines the viability of GPT-3.5 as an expert adviser in the energy management of kindergartens. Thus, field experts investigated the deductive and inductive reasoning potential of GPT-LLM (Large Language Model). The first task was conducted on a sample of kindergartens in the Western Balkans. The LLM was instructed to provide the buildings' specific heat consumption (SHC) by relatively detailed building descriptions and building occupancy. The second task involved kindergartens in various European locations, and the LLM was tasked with estimating energy savings using limited data about the renovation process. The study found deductive reasoning to be insufficient for estimating SHC from the building envelope details, with average accuracy below the least predictive model (R 2 = 0.56; MAPE = 48%). Including the factor of occupancy, the SHC estimates were relatively accurate, wherein the first deductive test proved precise (MAPE = 27%), but it was less so in the opposite case (MAPE = 67%). In terms of inductive reasoning, the LLM assumptions were relatively consistent with practice.

Aleksandar Dragomanović is  one of the key creators of Croatian post-war modernism. His oeuvre numbers more than hundred works, mainly shops and stores, commercial and offi  ce buildings and educational institutions. However, he also left  a dozen designs and built works meant for industrial and transportation use, innovative in their visual idioms, functional disposition and technological handling. Th e earliest dated designs show that he started to engage with this typology while still a student (1948); his fi rst built work was the gatehouse and infi rmary of the TUNT factory in Sesvetski Kraljevec (1952), while his last was the MIS of Croatian Railways at the marshalling yard station in Zagreb (1987), also a part of this typological group. In these works is shown that Dragomanović collaborated with A. Albini, R. Nikšić, N. Kučan, P. Kušan, K. Kasanić and F. Tolja.

Dünyada bugün yenilenemeyen enerji kaynaklarının yetersiz olması ve hızla azalması sebebiyle enerjinin verimli kullanılması ve sürdürülebilir çevre konularının önemi artmıştır. Tüketilen enerjinin yaklaşık %40'ının binalardan kaynaklı olduğu bilinmektedir (International Energy Agency, 2012). Binalardaki enerji kayıplarının çoğu yapıların dış cephelerinde ve dış ortam koşullarına direnci en düşük yapı elemanı olan pencere camlarından kaynaklanmaktadır.

Enerji kaynaklarının azalması nedeniyle binalarda enerjinin verimli kullanımının önemi giderek artmaktadır. Bu nedenle günışığından daha fazla faydalanmak ve kullanılan aydınlatma enerjisinin tüketimini azaltmak için çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmaların sonucu olarak ortaya çıkan dinamik camların hacim içi günışığı performansına etkisini incelemek amacıyla YTÜ Mimarlık Fakültesi'nde iki derslik ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışmanın ilk aşamasında, derslikler EN 17037 Günışığı Standardı ölçütleri açısından incelenmiştir. Sonraki aşamada, günışığının yetersiz olduğu koşullarda gerekli aydınlık düzeyini sağlamak için yapay aydınlatmanın kullanıldığı durumlarda, söz konusu cam türleri için yıllık elektrik enerjisi tüketim verileri karşılaştırılmıştır. Cam çeşitlerinin günışığı performansına ve aydınlatma için tüketilen enerjiye etkisini inceleyen bu çalışma ile, farklı cam tiplerinin hacim içindeki günışığı performansını etkilediği ve bu performansa bağlı olarak yıllık aydınlatma için harcanan enerji tüketimini de değiştirdiği görülmüştür.

El presente trabajo aborda la caracterización de las curvas de carga eléctricas de dos sectores de la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata y el análisis de la instalación de dos sistemas fotovoltaicos (FV) para su cobertura. El primer sector está destinado al área de investigación y el segundo a aulas. Las mediciones empíricas de la demanda eléctrica se tomaron durante el año 2022 con un intervalo de una hora. Los resultados permitieron identificar patrones característicos en la utilización de electricidad en dos edificios con distintos usos, en cuanto a sus sistemas de climatización, iluminación, horarios de funcionamiento, etc., y, además, estimar de manera precisa (con paso horario) la cobertura directa que tendría la demanda a partir de la energía generada por un sistema FV, la energía a tomar de la red pública y la energía excedente del FV para cada caso.

Turgutreis İlkokulu, Bodrum Çarşı Mahallesi’nde; merkezde, hafif yüksekçe bir tepededir. Yapı, Bodrum Belediyesi ve Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı’nın sorumluluğu altındadır. 1931’de Muğla Özel İdaresi tarafından “1. Okul” adıyla inşa edilen yapının tasarımcıları bilinmemektedir. İlk yapılan kagir yapı iki katlıdır. Dikdörtgen prizmatik yalın beyaz kütle üzerinde kiremit kaplı, geniş saçakları olan beşik bir çatı örtüsü vardır. İçinde 8 derslik, 1 laboratuvar, 1 öğretmen odası, 4 küçük oda, 1 müsamere salonu bulunmaktadır. Batıya bakan yapı Adliye camii, han, Belediye gibi önemli yapılara doğru yönlendirilmiştir. Ortadan yaklaşık 20 basamaklık bir merdivenle çıkılan yapının bahçe kodundan Bodrum’un tüm mahallelerinin görülebildiği bildirilmektedir. Yapının ön cephesi simetrik ve diğer cepheler gibi oldukça yalındır. Giriş içeriye çekilerek vurgulanmış, üst katta da balkona dönüşmüştür. Girişin sağ ve solunda bulunan 5şer adet sınıf pencereleri her iki katta aynı şekilde tekrarlanmıştır. Ahşap doğramalı pencerelerin oranları 1/3tür.

Yapı, 1947’de ciddi bir yangın geçirmiş; sonrasında üst katı tamamen yıkılarak benzer bir çatı örtüsüyle tek katlı hale dönüştürülmüştür. 1950’de 5 derslik, 1 müdür odası ve 1 öğretmenler odasıyla yeniden eğitime başlamıştır. Yapının ana kütlesinden kuzeybatıya doğru onu L şekline dönüştürmüş, 10x10mt boyutlarında bir eki mevcuttur; dışarıdan bir merdivenle ulaşılan bu bölümün 1980li yıllarda okulun sosyal aktiviteleri için kullanıldığı bilinmektedir. 1973’te tescillenmiş olan yapıya artan öğrenci sayısıyla birlikte 1991’de yaklaşık 210m2lik 3 katlı bir blok eklenmiştir. Bu yapıya ait yeni projedeki vaziyet planında yaklaşık 15x40mt olarak görülen dikdörtgen planlı asıl yapı ve eki toplam 2755 m2dir.

Turgutreis İlkokulu Bodrum’un (bilinen) en eski Cumhuriyet okulundan sonra yapılmıştır. Yapım yılı olarak ikinci ancak büyüklük, getirdiği yenilikler ve dönemine göre iyi olan donanımıyla kentin ilk eğitim yapısıdır. Tarihi geçmişinden ve merkezi konumundan dolayı Bodrum halkının belleğinde yer edinmiştir. Yapının unutulmayan bir anısı da II. Dünya Savaşı’nın getirdiği sıkıntılı günlerin ardından geçirdiği yangın felaketidir. Cumhuriyet’in ilk yıllarında ulaşımı güç, geçim kaynakları kısıtlı küçük bir kasabayken 1970lerde başlayan turizm girişimleriyle gelişen ve şu anda neredeyse bir kente dönüşmüş olan Bodrum’un geçmişini belgeleyen sembolik bir yapıdır. Ayrıca 1949’dan itibaren taşıdığı “Turgutreis” isminin Osmanlı döneminde yaşamış ve Bodrum’un Turgutreis (Karatoprak) ilçesinde doğmuş ünlü bir denizciye ait olması Bodrumlular için değerini artırmaktadır. 

Yapının çevresiyle olan ilişkisi Bodrum kentinin yapısal anlamda geçirdiği sürecin anlaşılması açısından önemlidir. Yapı, Bodrum’un kısmen korunmuş olan yerel kent dokusunun içindedir. Önündeki geniş alan eskiden mezarlık, sonradan pazar yeri, deve güreşi alanı, bayram yeri, tören alanı, garaj gibi farklı işlevlerle kullanılmıştır. Yapının Kuzey ve Doğusundaki sokaklar geleneksel taş evlerin bulunduğu Bodrum’un özgün sokaklarıdır. Yapısal sorunu olmayan ve günümüzde kullanılan yapının turizm odaklı yoğun bir ticari alan içinde kalmasından dolayı servis sorunları vardır. Önündeki meydanımsı alanın dolması ve bahçesine ek yapılar yapılmasından dolayı algılanması zayıflamıştır.

Yapının özgün hallerine ilişkin mimari projelerine erişilememekle birlikte ilk (1931) ve ikinci yapıya (1947) ait diğer belgeler incelendiğinde her ikisinin de Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nin kırsalda gelişen kamusal yapılara örnek olduğu görülür. Biçimsel ve yapısal açıdan I. Ulusal Mimari üsluba ait olan ilk yapının Cumhuriyet’in ilk yıllarında Anadolu’da başlatılan eğitim çalışmalarına örnek bir yapı olarak belgelenmesi; kentçindeki konumu ve ölçeği açısından günümüzle karşılaştırılması, sözel görüşmelerde öne çıkan sosyal yaşamdaki vazgeçilmez değerinin ortaya konulması önemlidir.

Many countries are keen to enhance existing learning spaces beyond the status quo, as nontraditional learning spaces can be leveraged to cultivate talent and ability in the 21st century. Recently, many primary schools have begun to practice planning and constructing nontraditional learning. This review highlights the available evidence on the considerations, challenges, and existing learning space design guidelines based on primary-school research conducted from 2000 to January 2024. The Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases are intensively searched for research conducted in primary school settings in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The finding shows optimism regarding non-traditional learning spaces fostering more flexible, innovative, and open learning environments that support and assist studentcentred pedagogical approaches, and it summarises the three results from the seven aspects. The primary considerations are physical space and pedagogical organisational design, challenges from users and designers and current research and guidelines for users and designers. Based on the three study results, this research proposes suggestions for physical learning spaces. There is an urgent need to design guidelines to promote primary school learning efficiency and create an environment that students and teachers like.

This paper describes an integrated passive design approach to reduce the heating demand for an existing tertiary building through an improved thermal envelope design and high efficiency windows. The numerical optimization has been performed dynamically by means of TRNSYS simulation tool. The model here treated is aimed at the determination of the thermal demand with reference to a tertiary building in Italy, which it is supposed to be located in two different climatic zones, i.e., Bologna and Rome. The final part of the paper deals with the investment costs analysis, applied to each retrofitting scenario: it has been demonstrated that the simple payback period results to be strongly affected by the climatic zone of the building location and by the national policies of fiscal incentives.

Tiyatro ve konser etkinliklerinin gerçekleştirildiği yapılar, bulundukları şehirler ve ülkeler için birer sembol, insanlar için ise sosyal etkileşim alanlarıdır. İsveç'in Malmö kentinde bulunan ve günümüzün en önemli konser salonlarından birine sahip olan Malmö Live de bu sembol yapılardan biridir. Malmö Live, Mölmö'nün liman kentinden bilgi kentine dönüşümü sırasında düzenlenen bir yarışmada birincilik ödülü kazanmış olup, otel, ofis, kongre merkezi ve konser salonundan oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Malmö Live yapı kompleksi; kentsel bağlamı, ulaşım sistemleri ile ilişkisi, biçimsel ve işlevsel özellikleri, yapısal ve fiziksel çevre göstergeleri, kullanılan teknoloji, inşaat teknolojisi ve fiziksel çevre göstergeleri açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Katlardaki farklı işlevler arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiş, konser salonunun fuaye, seyirci alanı, sahne ve kulis birimleri analiz edilmiştir. Seyirci ve fuaye birimleri kullanıcı sayılarına göre her kata özel olarak ele alınmış ve bu birimlerde kişi başına düşen alan ve hacim değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Malmö kenti ve Malmö Live yerinde gözlemlerle incelenmiş, fotoğraflanarak belgelenmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda farklı faaliyetlere ev sahipliği yapan yapı kompleksinin ihtiyaç duyulan şartları kolaylıkla sağlayabildiği, konser salonunun ise dinleyici ve orkestra için olması gereken akustik konfor koşullarını sunabildiği görülmüştür.

In this study, physical space quality of two different engineering department buildings in Uludag University Gorukle Campus, Bursa, Turkey are analyzed in regard to user evaluations about the physical space quality. In the analysis of these evaluations, criteria about physical space quality are predetermined by the authors. In the method of the study, the below phases are implemented. In first, the literature review about the physical space quality is done and then a questionnaire is prepared with regard to the key themes in literature review in order to evaluate the user satisfaction. The key themes in user satisfaction questionnaire is accessibility, ergonomics, thermal comfort, audible comfort, visual comfort, inner space air quality, service spaces, socialization. The aim of this study is first to understand which criteria are important for the students and then to improve the physical space quality in regard to the dissatisfaction.

In this study the indoor physical environmental quality of four education buildings in Uludag University Gorukle Campus was assessed by taking the opinions of their users. In order to carry out the evaluation the factors that create the physical environmental quality have been defined by the authors of this study. The method of the study was composed of the
following phases: In the first phase literature on physical environmental quality was analyzed to relevant concepts were defined as thermal comfort, acoustic comfort, visual comfort, and indoor air quality. A questionnaire was prepared to gather the opinions of the users related to these concepts and the results were evaluated. The purpose of this evaluation was to understand the level of satisfaction of students from the environment they used and to provide an opportunity to create the
needed performance conditions of the building by making improvements. It has been found that for all the buildings the dissatisfaction of users were related to problems about thermal comfort caused by high indoor temperatures in the summer; inadequate indoor air quality and noise coming from outside. Other opinions were expressed as inadequate artificial lighting and natural ventilation. It can be possible to increase the desired indoor performance by taking into consideration the physical environmental criteria and measures during the design stage at the beginning of the project design.

La edición de este catálogo se realiza con el propósito de dar a conocer el proyecto educativo “Artefactos Pedagógicos”, desarrollado durante el curso 2023/2024 para la formación en Educación Artística, Plástica y Visual de los estudiantes de 2º del Grado de Educación Primaria de la Facultad de Educación y Trabajo Social en la Universidad de Valladolid. The buildings and construction sector accounts for the majority of the energy consumption in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). For a sustainable future, energy consumption in the sector should be reduced and existing buildings need to be energy retrofitted. A number of studies present energy retrofitting of residential buildings in KSA; however, there is a lack of studies presenting retrofitting of educational buildings. Thus, the aim of this study is to adopt a BIM-based approach to assess Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) in a prototypical Government-built educational building in Dammam, KSA. The methodology consists of six prime steps, (1) case study data collection, (2) energy auditing, (3) proposing ECMs, (4) BIM model development, (5) energy assessment, and (6) economic assessment. Although Mies van der Rohe’s architecture is often associated with steel and glass, he had a fondness for brick and used it in both Europe and the Americas. For this reason, and because it has received little attention in the academic literature, this article investigates its use in Mies’s work from the perspective of Karl Friedrich Schinkel, an architect known for his innovative use of the material.110 years elapsed between the Bauakademie and Perlstein Hall, a period in which the study variables are clearly visible: Mies’s most important projects are reviewed and compared with Schinkel’s buildings, all of which were designed in brick. This research provides clues how Schinkel influenced Mies’s architecture, demonstrates that both architects used a classic material in a modern, honest way, and which Mies was able to push to its furthest limits by individualising the load-bearing and enclosing functions of the wall in his projects.

Ensuring optimal thermal comfort conditions and air quality in educational buildings is crucial for students and teachers' health. Appropriate indoor environment not only contributes to good physical well-being but also impacts the effectiveness of the teaching process, supporting focused learning. Also, systematic control and monitoring of the levels of microbiological air pollutants, along with the identification of their emission sources, constitute the foundation of an effective strategy to improve indoor air quality (IAQ). Efficient management of these parameters contributes not only to health protection but also to increased comfort during both learning and work. The presented paper is of a review nature. Its aim was to develop a comprehensive study related to shaping optimal thermal and humidity conditions and ensuring proper IAQ, including microbiological IAQ, in educational buildings. The authors reviewed various uninform legal regulations and recommendations (both Polish and international) regarding thermal comfort parameters and IAQ. Different measurement and assessment methods of these conditions were described, including examples of measurement equipment. Finally, ways in which indoor environment can be shaped using energyefficient heating, ventilation and airconditioning (HVAC) system solutions in such facilities were presented. The paper can provide assistance in designing new educational buildings or retrofitting existing ones, as well as improving indoor environment management systems. It can inspire investments in modern HVAC systems, as well as promote the use of renewable energy sources. Furthermore, it might be a source of knowledge to raise awareness regarding the impact of indoor environment conditions on health and learning efficiency.

The service sector remains the only economic sector that has recorded an increase (3.8%) in energy consumption during the last decade, and it is projected to grow more than 50% in the following decades. Among the public buildings, educational are especially important since they have high abundance, great retrofit potential in terms of energy savings and impact in promoting a culture of energy efficiency. Since predictive models have shown high potential in optimizing usage of energy in buildings, this study aimed to assess their application for both finding the most influential factors on heat consumption in public kindergarten and heat consumption prediction. Two linear (Simple and Multiple Linear Regression) and two non-linear (Decision Tree and Artificial Neural Network) predictive models were utilized to estimate monthly heat consumption in 11 public kindergartens in the city of Kragujevac, Serbia. Topperforming and most complex to develop was the Artificial Neural Network predictive model. Contrary to that, Simple Linear Regression was the least precise but the most simple to develop. It was found that Multiple Linear Regression and Decision Tree were relatively simple to develop and interpret, where in particular the Multiple Linear Regression provided relatively satisfying results with a good balance of precision and usability. It was concluded that the selection of proper predictive methods depends on data availability, and technical abilities of those who utilize and create them, often offering the choice between simplicity and precision.

Mizaj, one of the basic concept of Iranian Traditional Medicine (ITM), plays an important role in maintaining the healthy state of an individual as well as diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Despite its effectiveness, the mechanisms of mizaj dependence treatment in practical ITM has not been steel well understood. This study was aimed to evaluate any association between the mizaj and superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD1) polymorphism. The study was carried out on individuals healthy for blood donation. All participants were from Fars province, southern Iran. To determine the Participants’ temperaments a self-reported mizaj identification scale was used. Two hundred eighty males with equilibrium or any of four simple mizajs (Warm, Cold, Moist, and Dry) were included in the study. ÖZET: Eğitim yapıları; toplumsal yapının temelini oluşturan, ülkenin geleceğine yön veren, başarılı ve sağlıklı toplumları oluşturan bireylerin yetiştirilmesini sağlayan, özel olarak planlanması gereken en önemli mekanlardandır. Çalışmada Elazığ ve Malatya'daki okullar arasından belirlenen ve deneysel olarak incelenen binalarda, Aralık ayında sıcaklık ve bağılnem değerleri ölçülmüştür. İlköğretim binalarının ısıl konfor şartları BUD ve IPI Koruma değerlendirmeleri temel alınarak incelenmiştir. Okulların ısıl konfor şartları; kullanıcı sağlığı, eğitimin kalitesi ve verimliliği açısından oldukça önemlidir. Deneysel çalışmanın sonunda, incelenen okulların BUD ve IPI değerlendirmeleri esaslarına göre belli başlı eksikliklerinin olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin zamanlarının çoğunu geçirdikleri dersliklerin çok daha olumsuz koşullara sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

In this study, the effect of ventilation rates determined based on acceptable infection risk on the number of COVID-19
cases, probability of infection and heating energy load in various climatic regions in naturally ventilated higher education
classrooms during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic were investigated. Ventilation rates, number of new cases and probability
of infection were determined by the Wells-Riley model adapted to SARS-CoV-2, which was used to model the probability
of airborne infection. The annual heating energy load was calculated with the EnergyPlus based building energy simulation
according to the heat balance method. The proposed method was applied to university classrooms in different climatic
regions as a case study. The findings showed that ventilation rates increased by 51,41% on average compared to preCOVID-19, and the number of daily COVID-19 cases decreased by an average of 63.19% compared to the conditions of
the pre-COVID-19 period to ensure an acceptable infection risk in classrooms. The increase in ventilation rates increased
the annual heating energy loads of classrooms to 192.37% with 29322 kWh in a temperate climate compared to preCOVID-19; by 98.80% with 57083 kWh in cold climate; and by 79.21% with 82467 kWh in very cold climates. In
universities with naturally ventilated classrooms during the COVID-19 process, the academic year should be determined
according to the periods when ventilation is suitable for indoor thermal comfort control. In this case, the energy
consumption due to heating is 86.52% in a temperate climate; 69.60% in a cold climate; in very cold climates, it decreases
by 61.40%. These results show that we can better prepare for airborne diseases and other possible epidemics in the future,
according to climatic differences.

Bu çalışmada, SARS-CoV-2 salgınında doğal havalandırılan yükseköğretim dersliklerinde, kabul edilebilir enfeksiyon riskine dayalı belirlenen havalandırma oranlarının COVID-19 vaka sayısına, enfeksiyon olasılığına ve çeşitli iklim bölgelerinde ısıtmadan kaynaklanan enerji tüketimine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Havalandırma oranları, yeni vaka sayısı ve enfeksiyon olasılığı hava kaynaklı enfeksiyon olasılığının modellenmesinde kullanılan SARS-CoV-2’ye uyarlanmış Wells-Riley modeliyle belirlenmiştir. Isıtmadan kaynaklanan enerji tüketimi, ısı dengesi metoduna göre EnergyPlus tabanlı bina enerji simülasyonuyla hesaplanmıştır. Önerilen yöntem, vaka çalışması olarak farklı iklimde bölgelerinde bulunan üniversite dersliklerine uygulanmıştır. Bulgular, dersliklerde kabul edilebilir enfeksiyon riskinin sağlanabilmesi için havalandırma oranlarının COVID-19 öncesine göre ortalama %51,41 arttığını, günlük COVID-19 vaka sayısının ise COVID-19 öncesi dönemin şartlarına göre ortalama %63,19 azaldığını göstermiştir. COVID-19 sürecinde artan havalandırma oranları, dersliklerin ısıtmadan kaynaklı enerji tüketiminin COVID-19 öncesine göre ılıman iklimde %192,37 (29322 kWh); soğuk iklimde %98,80 (57083 kWh); çok soğuk iklimde ise %79,21 (82467 kWh) artmasına sebep olmuştur. COVID-19 sürecinde doğal havalandırılan dersliklere sahip üniversitelerde, eğitim öğretim dönemi, havalandırmanın iç ortam termal konfor kontrolü için uygun olduğu dönemlere göre belirlenmelidir. Bu durumda, ısıtmadan kaynaklanan enerji tüketimi ılıman iklimde %86,52; soğuk iklimde %69,60; çok soğuk iklimde ise %61,40 oranında azalmaktadır. Bu sonuçlar, gelecekte hava yoluyla bulaşan hastalıklara ve olası diğer salgınlara iklimsel farklılıklara göre daha iyi hazırlanılabileceğini göstermektedir.
