Traditional data mining technologies cannot work with huge, heterogeneous, unstructured data. Modern web database as well as scientific database maintains tremendous and heterogeneous data. These real word databases may contain hundreds or even thousands of relations and attributes. Query form is one of the most widely used interfaces for querying database. Traditional query forms are designed and pre-defined by developer or DBA in various information management systems. But extracting the useful information with this traditional query form from large dataset and streams of the data is not possible and it is difficult to design set of static query forms to satisfy numerous ad- hoc database queries on those complex databases. Objective: From a dynamic system approach, this study evaluated the impact of a new training protocol using a mechanical horse on the postural coordination of brain-damaged patients. Methods: Eighteen volunteer brain-damaged patients (i.e., post-stroke or traumatic brain injury) were recruited and randomly divided into an experimental group (horse group; n = 10, conventional therapy associated with horse-riding exercise on the mechanical horse for 30 min, twice a week, for 12 weeks) and a control group (n = 8; conventional therapy without intervention on the mechanical horse). Postural coordination was evaluated during pre-and post-tests through discrete relative phase (DRP) computation: φ Head−Horse , φ Trunk−Horse. Results: A significant effect of used training has been showed, F (1, 15) = 16.6 (p < 0.05) for all patients, concerning the trunk/horse coordination. Conclusion: This pilot study results showed the impact of this new training method on the postural coordination of these patients. After 24 sessions, the coordination of the horse group patients differed from that of the control group, showing their ability to adapt to constraints and develop specific modes of postural coordination (trunk/horse antiphase) to optimize their posture.

The main drawback of the traditional self-thinning model is how time is handled. Selfthinning (ST) has been formally recognized as a dynamic process, while the current ST models have not included the temporal effect. This restricts the analysis to the average competitive behavior of the population and produces a biased estimation of the selfthinning parameters. In this study we extend the dynamic ST model introduced by Roderick and Barnes (2004) to the analysis of multilayered sessile animal populations. For this purpose, we incorporate the number of layers and the density per layer into the dynamical approach. The performance of the dynamic model was checked and compared with the classical ST model through the analysis of mussel populations grown at different density treatments. Unlike the traditional model, the dynamical approach detected the effect of culture density on the competitive behavior of individuals and allowed to analyze the temporal evolution of intraspecific competition by estimating the ST exponent trajectory. Moreover, this approach provided an ecological interpretation of any possible value of the ST exponent. Thus, our results support the use of the dynamic model in the analysis of self-thinning in sessile animal multilayered populations. The estimation of the ST exponent trajectory reflects the dynamic nature of the ST process, providing a more realistic description of population dynamics than the traditional model.

Globalisation and increased competition pushes companies to grow outside political and geographical boundaries, frequently forcing them to increase product diversification and optimise their relation with potential and effective partners and customers. In this scenario, implementing agile collaboration networks with business partners is a requirement. In this article the authors propose a collaborative framework based on a model for Historical, Present and Future evaluations, which in turn is based on a Dynamic Multi-criteria Decision Method using software agents and the Cloud for Collaborative Networked and Virtual Organization Synthesis. The model uses a dynamic decision approach for supplier and business partner evaluation, enabling software agents to autonomously capture business opportunities, select business partners/suppliers, award and process associated orders.

Within the Generalized Beam Theory, the 'cross-section analysis' is a key point to evaluate a suitable basis of modes for the elastic analysis of thin-walled beams. A new dynamic approach is proposed for the evaluation of extensional modes for any possible kind of cross-section (i.e., open, partially closed or closed), using a dual method that perfectly complements and improves the GBT dynamic approach (GBT-D). The method relies on the solution of a very limited number of constrained eigenvalue problems. The emergence of specific hybrid modes for multiply-connected cross-section is pointed out. The proposed approach is much simpler to use than the classic static one, in addition to providing even better results from the point of view of accuracy and symmetry of the displacement fields. An illustrative example shows all the steps of the novel procedure. Several additional examples illustrate the high quality of the results arising from its application.

We used a validated agent-based model-Socio-Emotional CONcern DynamicS (SECONDS)-to model real-time playful interaction between a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and its parent. SECONDS provides a real-time (second-by-second) virtual environment that could be used for clinical trials and testing process-oriented explanations of ASD symptomatology. We conducted numerical experiments with SECONDS (1) for internal model validation comparing two parental behavioral strategies for stimulating social development in ASD (play-centered vs. initiative-centered) and (2) for empirical case-based model validation. We compared 2,000 simulated play sessions of two particular dyads with (second-by-second) time-series observations within 29 play sessions of a real parent-child dyad with ASD on six variables related to maintaining and initiating play. Overall, both simulated dyads provided a better fit to the observed dyad than reference null distributions. Given the idiosyncratic behaviors expected in ASD, the observed correspondence is non-trivial. Our results demonstrate the applicability of SECONDS to parent-child dyads in ASD. In the future, SECONDS could help design interventions for parental care in ASD.

Monetary incentives have been used worldwide to decrease high upfront costs of electric vehicles (EVs) and foster their adoption, but few empirical studies have analysed the effectiveness of such policies in Europe. The present thesis investigates the influence of consumer-side fiscal incentives on European EV adoption figures in 2010-2019 through a generalised method of moments (GMM) model. By exploiting the dynamic nature of the dependent variable, and controlling for socioeconomic and attitudinal country-level data, I showed that the incentive design and the strength of network externalities in the country are critical determinants for the impact of monetary incentives.

Throughout the past few decades, significance of entrepreneurial competencies has been amplified due to the strategic role take part by the entrepreneur of a business enterprise. Therefore, the aim of the study is to examine the impact of owner/managers entrepreneurial competencies on Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) of tea manufacturing firms in Sri Lanka and the relationship between background characteristics of owner/managers and entrepreneurial competencies. Primary data was collected in low country tea manufacturing firms in Sri Lanka. The sample includes 109 private sector tea factories. Entrepreneurial competencies were operationalized as opportunity, organizing, strategic, relationship, commitment and conceptual competencies. Data were analyzed by using multiple regression analysis. It was found that background characteristics of owner/managers have direct impact on entrepreneurial competencies. Further it implies that entrepreneurs strategic and commitment competencies have direct positive relationship with EO. When considering the dimensions of EO, innovativeness was greatly affected by owner/managers competencies whereas risk taking behavior was less affected by competencies. Hence, findings of the present study would be essential for owner/managers and strategy makers to enhance the EO of tea manufacturing firms in Sri Lanka towards global competition in the tea industry by knowing what competencies are crucial for EO.

In this paper, we introduce a new stochastic Location-Allocation Problem which assumes the movement of customers over time. We call this new problem Dynamic Customer Location-Allocation Problem (DC-LAP). The problem is based on the idea that customers will change locations over a defined horizon and these changes have to be taken into account when establishing facilities to service customers demands. We generate 1440 problem instances by varying the problem parameters of movement rate which determines the possible number of times a customer will change locations over the defined period, the number of facilities and the number of customers. We propose to analyse the characteristics of the instances generated by testing a search algorithm using the stochastic dynamic evaluation (based on the replication of customer movement scenarios) and a deterministic static evaluation (based on the assumption that customer will not move over time). We show that the dynamic approach obtains globally better results, but the performances are highly related to the parameters of the problem. Moreover, the dynamic approach involves a significantly high computational overhead.

1 In this paper we present a dynamic programming algorithm for pricing variable annuities with Guaranteed Minimum Withdrawal Benefits (GMWB) under a general Lévy processes framework. The GMWB gives the policyholder the right to make periodical withdrawals from her policy account even when the value of this account is exhausted. Typically, the total amount guaranteed for withdrawals coincides with her initial investment, providing then a protection against downside market risk. At each withdrawal date, the policyholder has to decide whether, and how much, to withdraw, or to surrender the contract. We show how different levels of rationality in the policyholder&#39;s withdrawal behaviour can be DEAMS Research Paper 4/2013 modelled. We perform a sensitivity analysis comparing the numerical results obtained for different contractual and market parameters, policyholder behaviours, and different types of Lévy processes.

O artigo descreve duas abordagens minimalistas diferentes em matéria de reconhecimento e proteção de direitos: as variantes anti-conflitivista e liberal. Nele, se reconstroem seus fundamentos histórico-culturais e se destacam os principais elementos de sua insustentabilidade teórica.

Metodologia: Para esse efeito, utilizam-se algumas ferramentas teóricas derivadas da combinação da interest theory contemporânea com uma abordagem dinâmica.

Objetivo: Um dos objetivos mais relevantes da pesquisa consiste em demonstrar a insustentabilidade teórica daquelas reconstruções que atribuem à sucessão histórica das diferentes categorias de direitos uma clara distinção estrutural entre direitos negativos, entendidos como “autoexecutivos”, e direitos positivos a prestações públicas.

Resultado: A conjunção dessas duas abordagens (teoria dinâmica e interest theory) fornece uma base conceitual adecuada para o reconhecimento dos direitos sociais em um nível de paridade em relação com os direitos tradicionais de liberdade; por outro lado, esta posição conduz diretamente à rejeição do minimalismo: as liberdades civis clássicas, da mesma forma que as condições materiais necessárias para uma existência digna, constituem bens ou interesses protegidos dos sujeitos que exigem prestações para serem garantidos.

Contribuições: A análise realiza uma investigação filosófica sobre os fundamentos teóricos dos direitos sociais em relação aos direitos liberais clássicos da primeira geração. Nesse sentido, produz-se um desenvolvimento doutrinal das suas bases conceituais com o objetivo de acabar definitivamente com a concepção canônica que defende a superioridade axiológica dos direitos da tradição liberal.
