The spatial distribution of crops is influenced by Climatic conditions, Soil characteristics, Topography, Traditional availability. practices, and Market However, globalization, technological advancements, and improved infrastructure have facilitated the introduction of non-traditional crops in various regions. This study aims to estimate the preharvest acreage of Boro rice and Summer maize in Darrang and Nagaon districts using Remote sensing techniques. The study highlights the changing cropping pattern in Darrang district, where summer maize is increasingly replacing traditional Boro rice cultivation due to its Shorter duration, Lower water requirements, and Higher profitability. Sentinel-2A satellite imagery and hybrid classification methods were used to assess acreage, with ground truth validation conducted through field surveys. The findings indicate a significant expansion of maize cultivation in Darrang and a discrepancy between remote sensing and government estimates. The study was carried in Heggadadevanakote taluk of Mysuru district during 2019 to assess the social capital of Soliga tribal women. Ex post facto research design was employed for the study. With respect to overall social capital status of Soliga tribal women, it was found that there was medium level social capital (50.00%) followed by high (26.67%) and low level (23.33%). Among different dimensions of social capital, groups and network got the highest mean score (17.16) followed by trust and solidarity (16.03), empowerment and action (12.10) collective action and cooperation (8.63), information and communication (3.93) and social cohesion and inclusion (3.03). It was quite interesting to note that there was high trust and solidarity among them because of medium level of mass media exposure and extension participation and regular visit of NGO. They have developed trust and solidarity among these Agencies and believe in each other. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is a need to build social capital by addressing all the dimensions among tribal women to make them more empowered socially, economically and culturally particularly social cohesion and information communication has to be promoted among the Soliga tribal women.

Production of faba bean is inhibited by several yield limiting factors, among which diseases are the main. In Ethiopia more than 17 disease causing pathogens were reported on faba bean. Major diseases recoded in faba bean includes, chocolate spot (Botrytis fabae), rust (Uromyces viciae-fabae), ascochyta blight (Ascochyta fabae), zonate leaf spot (Cercospora zonatae), and black root rot (Fusarium sp.). A new disease, faba bean gall locally called "Kormid in North Shewa was expanded in the highland faba bean growing areas. Studies showed that seed dressing and foliar fungicides have some effects against faba bean diseases. Field experiment was conducted in North shewa highlands to control faba bean gall disease at farmers' field. The experiment was conducted on farmers' fields in randomized complete block design in six replications. The treatments were arranged with different fungicides (spray and seed dressing), namely Mancozeb, Ridomil, Chlorotalonil, Bayleton wp 25 (Triadimefon 250 g/ kg), Thiram, Apron star and control. Fungicides were applied as manufacturers' recommendations. Foliar fungicides were applied three times at seedling, flowering and podding growth stage on local faba bean variety. Disease score and other agronomic data were recorded at different plant growth stage. The highest disease score were recorded in control, Thiram and Apron star in 2013. The highest yield was also recorded in Bayleton and mancozeb sprayed plots respectively. In 2014 the disease prevalence and severity was similar to 2013. Maximum disease score were recorded on Control followed by Thiram and Apron star seed dressing plots. Minimum disease score were also recorded in Baylaton (2.66) and Ridomil gold (2.71) sprayed plots. There was a significant difference between biomass yield and grain yield. The highest grain yield was recorded in Baylaton (3129.8 kg) sprayed plot and followed by Ridomil gold (2708.3 kg) and Mancozeb (2705.7 kg) respectively. There was no significant difference between plots in plant height, pod per plant, seed per pot and seed per plant in both years.

Building on existing work evaluating food-attribute labels, we use data collected in 2010 from a national web-based survey of 1,002 households to examine consumer inferences and valuations of food products promoted as “sustainably produced.” A best-worst scale framework was implemented to identify how consumers define “sustainably produced” and their preferences for each of the sustainable farming practices considered. The results suggest that consumers perceive farm size and local production as important elements of sustainable agriculture while economic attributes exhibit a significant amount of heterogeneity, indicating segmentation in the sample and the potential for targeted marketing.

This paper examines transferable development rights (TDRs) policies as a way to preserve farmland and change the density of development. Characteristics of TDR markets are described, including why they might promote efficiency, and the difficulties that arise in implementing them. Evidence from an established TDR program in Calvert County, Maryland, is used to assess the potential for TDRs to influence subdivision density, and to achieve local land preservation goals. The Calvert program has succeeded in creating an active and stable TDR market, and has therefore preserved a large amount of farmland in the region. But we find that the demand for additional density permitted with TDRs occurs mostly in rural areas and not in the higher density town centers and residential areas.

İçinde bulunduğumuz kriz ortamı –iklim değişikliği ve ekolojik yıkım, ekonomik sorunlar, otoriterleşme, toplumsal eşitsizliklerin derinleşmesi, toplumsal kutuplaşma ve bunların üzerine eklenen COVID-19 salgını– insanlığı ve ekolojiyi ciddi ölçülerde tehdit ediyor. Ancak bu kriz ortamı hem egemen –ve neredeyse doğal kabul edilen– toplumsal yapıların ve ilişkilerin sorgulanmasına hem de bunların değişimine ve dönüşümüne alan açtı ve açmaya devam ediyor. Krizlerin nedenleri, niteliği ve sorumluları, değişimlerin ne yönde ve nasıl gerçekleşmesi gerektiği ise çokça tartışılan ihtilaflı bir alan. Gıdaya ulaşım her zaman toplumların ana sorunlarının başında geldi. Gıdaya erişimdeki eşitsizlikler, çatışmaların kesilmemesi (hatta derinleşmesi ve yaygınlaşması) ve etkisini gün geçtikçe artıran iklim krizi gibi sebeplerle gıda meselesi daha da merkezi bir konuma taşınıyor. Gıda sisteminde yaşanmakta olan bu değişim sürecinden hareketle, 2021 yılında İstanbul Politikalar Merkezi (İPM) bünyesinde gerçekleştirilen “Gıdanın Politik Ekolojisi” adlı on bir bölümlük webinar serisini bu kitapta bir araya getirdik. Bu seride Türkiye’de gıda sistemi etrafında gelişen tartışmalara değinerek yaşanan değişimin daha adil ve sürdürülebilir bir gıda sisteminin kurulması yönünde ilerlemesini sağlayamaya çalıştık. Gıda sisteminin, bilindiği üzere, üretim kaynaklarına erişimden kırsal yaşamın toplumsal dinamikleri, teknolojik değişimler, ekosistem dinamikleri ve tüketim kültürü gibi birçok boyutu bulunuyor. Bu boyutların içine girebilmek ve bu boyutların aralarındaki ilişkileri anlamak, disiplinlerarası ve bütüncül bir yaklaşımı gerektiriyor. Bu nedenle webinar serisine, ilgili konuda aktif olarak çalışan akademisyen, sivil toplum kuruluşu ve toplumsal hareket temsilcileri, uluslararası kurum üyeleri ve yerel yönetim temsilcilerini davet ederek farklı bakış açılarını yakalamaya çalıştık. Dünyada ve Türkiye’de hem gıda sistemindeki sorunları hem de daha adil ve sürdürülebilir gıda politikalarına nasıl ulaşılabileceğini irdelemeyi amaçlayan bu kitapta gıda konusunu politik ekolojiden toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğine, sağlıktan beslenmenin sürdürülebilirliğine, agroekolojiden teknolojik gelişmelere birçok boyutuyla ele aldık. Dünyada ve Türkiye’de gıda sisteminin yapısı ve işleyişiyle, bunlardan doğan (ekonomik/sosyal/ekolojik) sorunların, mücadelelerin ve çözüm arayışlarının tartışılabildiği bir zemin sunmayı hedefledik. Bu yolla daha sağlıklı, adil, sürdürülebilir ve dirençli bir gıda sisteminin kurulmasına yönelik farklı toplumsal aktörlerin çabalarına katkı sunmaya çalıştık. Böylelikle esas vurguyu Türkiye’ye yapmak üzere, “Kapsayıcı ve dönüştürücü gıda politikaları nasıl olmalıdır?” sorusuna yönelik somut bir çerçeve geliştirmeye çalıştık. Webinar akışına bağlı kalarak derlediğimiz on bir bölümden oluşan bu çalışma, “Nasıl bir gıda sistemi?” sorusu etrafında şekillendi ve şu sorularla derinleşti: Farklı kavramsal ve politik çerçeveler kimler tarafından hangi politik arka planlardan beslenerek hangi tarihsel bağlamda geliştiriliyor? Bu farklı çerçeveler egemen gıda sistemini nasıl sorunsallaştırıyor? Bu çerçevelerin gıda sisteminin geleceğine dair vizyonları ve bu vizyona ulaşmak için önerdikleri yol haritaları nelerdir? “Gıda’yı Konuşurken: Farklı Yaklaşımlar, Farklı Kavramlar” bölümünde gıda sistemindeki sorunların belirlenmesinde ve çözüm arayışlarının merkezinde bulunan gıda hakkı, gıda güvenliği ve gıda egemenliği gibi temel kavramları Hilal Evren ve Özge Güneş’le tartıştık. Bu kavramlar üzerinden gıda sisteminin sosyal, ekonomik, politik ve ekolojik ilişkilerini deşifre etmeye çalıştık. Gıda sisteminin değerlendirilmesinde teknik boyutlar kadar politik süreçlerin de dikkate alınması gerektiğinden hareketle sürece ilişkin farklı yaklaşımların arka planlarını aydınlatmayı hedefledik. “Beslenmenin Sürdürülebilirliği ve Soframızın Ekonomi-Politiği” bölümünde ise Özge Geyik ve Candan Türkkan’la hem gıda sistemlerinin genelde ekolojik boyutuna özelde iklim kriziyle ilişkisine, hem de makro bir yaklaşımla siyaset teorisi üzerinden neoliberalizmin gıda sistemleri üzerindeki etkilerine dair bir analiz yaptık. Neoliberalizmin soframıza getirdiklerine ve götürdüklerine –tüketilen ve israf edilen gıdanın gezegenin sürdürülebilirliğine ve halk sağlığına etkilerine– dair politik ekolojik bir değerlendirme yaptık. “Gıda Sisteminin Kilit Özneleri: Çiftçiler, Yarı-Zamanlı Çiftçiler, Mevsimlik İşçiler ve Diğerleri” bölümünde ise Burak Gürel ve Deniz Pelek’le üretici öznelerin çeşitliliğini inceleyerek, Hindistan ve Türkiye üzerinden çiftçiliğin ekonomi-politiğini değerlendirdik. Köyden kente göçüp köye geri dönenler ve kentten köye gidenleri kapsayan yeni köylülük, COVID-19 ile gıda meselesindeki önemi ortaya çıkan mevsimlik işçilik, geçimlik tarım üreticileri ve yarı zamanlı çiftçiler üzerinden üretici özneleri geniş bir yelpazede tartıştık. “Tarım ve Gıda Sektöründeki Değer ve Tedarik Zincirinin Ekonomi-Politiği” başlıklı bölümde Halis Akder ve Derya Nizam’la birlikte gıda sektörünün değer ve tedarik zincirlerini politik ekonomi perspektifinden ele aldık. Gıda ürünlerinde özellikle son yıllarda kendini iyice hissettiren enflasyon sorununu, tarımda yerelleşme meselesini, gıdadaki tedarik zincirini değerlendirdik. Bu değerlendirme üzerinden gıda sistemlerinin sürdürülebilirliği için nasıl bir gıda politikası ve kırsal kalkınma programının tercih edilmesi gerektiğini değerlendirdik. Fikret Adaman ve Sena Akkoç

The study assessed the productivity of small-scale cassava farmers in Ondo State, Nigeria. One hundred respondents were selected using a multi-stage sampling technique. Data were collected from the respondents and analysed using a combination of descriptive statistics and Stochastic Frontier Production Function model (SFPF). Maximum Likelihood Estimates of the Stochastic Frontier Production Function results showed that farm size, quantity of labour, quantity of agrochemicals and quantity of cassava stem cuttings were the major determinants of output of cassava farmers in the study area. In addition, level of education, farming experience, household size and age of farmers were the major determinants of efficiency of cassava farmers in the study area. The level of education and age were observed to have led to increase in technical efficiency of the farmers. The presence of technical inefficiency effects on the farmers studied, accounted for most output variations in cassava production. The estimated mean technical efficiency was 0.69. The results of simulation on changes in labour cost revealed that increase in labour cost brings about decrease in Gross Margin while decrease in labour cost brings about increase in Gross Margin. The level of profitability of cassava production was found to be high with a mean Gross Margin per hectare of N160, 762.04. Arising from the findings of the study, some recommendations were made for increased productive efficiency and income of cassava farmers in the study area.

In view of continuing economic stagnation and consequent budgetary constraints facing the state, Hawaii public libraries have been concerned with their operational efficiency and library managers have been seeking better methods in allocating limited resources among the libraries. This paper employed data envelopment analysis (DEA) technique to assess the performance and resource utilization efficiency of 47 public libraries in Hawaii. Three output measures—circulation, reader visits, and reference transactions and four input categories—collection, library staff, days open, and nonpersonal expenditures were used in the analysis. For fiscal year 1996/97, the estimated technical efficiency scores for Hawaii State public library branches ranged from 0.45 to 1.00, with an average of 0.84. يصل عدد أنواع النخيل إلى نحو 5000 نوع، وتنتشر زراعته في مصر والدول العربية، ووفقاً لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة التابعة للأمم المتحدة (فاو) تتصدر مصر دول العالم من حيث انتاج التمر، إذ يبلغ انتاجها من التمور 1.6 مليون طن بنسبة 18% من الانتاج العالمي تليها المملكة العربية السعودية بنسبة 16%. كما يمثل الإنتاج المصري 25% من الإنتاج العربي بعدد 16 مليون نخلة منهم 1.4 مليون نخلة مجدول منهم نحو 600 ألف نخلة مثمرة.
ويرجع نمو معدلات الإنتاج المصري إلى عدة أسباب منها: احتياج هذا المشروع إلى عمالة مدربة تعمل في ظروف عمل قاسية وهو ما يتوفر في الفلاح المصري وبتكلفة منخفضة، بالإضافة إلى توفر الأراضي الصحراوية بأسعار رخيصة، وأيضًا توفر المياه الجوفية والمناخ الجاف المناسب لنمو الثمرة، فضلًا عن الموقع الجغرافي لمصر وتوفر خطوط الشحن للتصدير.
تتبنى الحكومة المصرية حاليًا المشروع القومي لزراعة 5 ملايين نخلة. وذلك في إطار اهتمامها بالنهوض بقطاع التمور باعتباره من القطاعات الواعدة من حيث خلق فرص عمل للشباب وزيادة الصادرات وتحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية والمجتمعية. وعلى هذا تسعى الدولة إلى إنشاء أكبر مزرعة تمور على مستوى العالم بتوشكى والعوينات على مساحة 40 ألف فدان.
وبناء على ما تقدم تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل اقتصاديات الاستثمار في قطاع التمور في مصر وتحديد اقتصاديات الانتاج وتحليل للصادرات والواردات عالميا من التمور وأيضا علي مستوي مصر، وتحليل سريع للأسواق النهائية من حيث الطلب والأسعار وكميات الانتاج ومعدلات النمو المتوقعة، فضلا على تحديد عوامل نجاح الاستثمار في النخيل في مصر وأفضل الأماكن والتي يمكن إنشاء المشروع فيها. واخيرًا تحليل الحوافز الاستثمارية للقطاع وجهود الدولة لدعم وزيادة الانتاج والتصدير.

Resumen Como parte de un proceso de evaluación de tierras, utilizando el sistema de la FAO, en el área de las Mesas Orientales de Venezuela, se evaluo la cualidad Riesgo de Erosión Hídrica, u-sando como herramienta metodológica la Ecuación Universal de Pérdidas de Suelo (USLE). Para estimar el factor erosividad fueron analizados datos diarios de precipitación de cinco esta-ciones meteorológicas. El factor erosionabilidad fue estimado con bandejas de erosión en los suelos más representativos. Se realizaron observaciones de campo para fijar la longitud y el gradiente de la pendiente. El factor uso y manejo se estimó en base al porcentaje de cobertura, en los estadios fenológicos de cada cultivo incluido en los Tipos de Utilización de la Tierra (TUT). Efficiency in production requires utilization of improved technologies. Smallholder farmers in Ethiopia cannot adopt improved agricultural technologies using their savings. Therefore, the dependence of the subsistent farmers on financial institutions for credit has become substantially increasing nowadays. The major concern of this study was to identify factors that determine farmers’ access to credit from Micro- finances. For the purpose of the study primary data were collected from three sample kebeles. A total of 120 households comprising 60 credit users and 60 non-users were selected randomly in each sampled kebeles. In addition, secondary data were collected from relevant organizations. Background: Pulses are rich in protein, fiber and vital vitamins and minerals however, since the start of the so-called “green revolution” in 1966-1967, their cultivation has experienced a notable decrease. This declining trend in the area under pulses shows that farmers have been changing their crop selections in response to changing techno-economic circumstances. Thus, there is a strong need to study acreage reactions, which will provide important insights for developing efficient policy directives for pulse development.

Methods: The objective of this research is to examine the factors that impact the production of pulse crops in the state of Rajasthan. The study is totally dependent on secondary data that was obtained from state government publications for the years 2000–01 and 2019-20. In order to achieve its goals, the study uses backward an elimination regression method.

Result: The findings indicate that current-year irrigation significantly improved chickpea farming, while positive effects on pigeon pea acreage were linked to current-year rainfall, lagged irrigated area and pigeon pea yield variability. However, pigeon pea acreage was negatively affected by current-year irrigation and lagged production. Additionally, positive correlations were found between the lagged price of a rival crop (Bajra), current-year rainfall and moong bean acreage response. Urd bean acreage benefited from one-year lagged rainfall, lagged area and yield of pulse crops and lagged pricing of a rival crop (linseed). Therefore, investing in research and development, promoting rainfed techniques and establishing supportive pricing systems are crucial for boosting pulse production and meeting future demand efficiently.

Ownership of agricultural production resources has generally been shown by research to be male dominated and to have wide disparities between males and females. The disparities are more pronounced in rural areas where women have less income, smaller pieces of land, and have inadequate market for their produce. In dealing with Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) adoption and with agricultural technology adoption, there has been increasing recognition of the importance of focusing on the gender-based needs behind the adoption choice itself. Grounded in the belief that solutions to Africa's resilience challenges lie in understanding what makes communities thrive in adversity, ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) is a multidisciplinary innovation lab that leverages the creativity and talent of youth, students, scholars and communities to develop and scale innovative ideas. Given how dominant agriculture is among RAN's problem sets for strengthening resilience through innovation, RAN sought to understand how supported innovations had contributed to gender-responsive climate smart agriculture solutions. What lessons could be learned from Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) in their history of engagement with women farmers to co-create a gender-responsive innovation process to strengthen resilience through the agricultural sector? With the support of CCAFS, RAN and WOUGNET conducted a gender assessment exercise to evaluate if the current solutions/innovations are gender responsive or not. Three innovations were selected that are primarily focused towards CSA and that had affordability and ease of use as key objectives. The gender assessment embraced a qualitative research approach. This choice was guided by the need to appreciate respondents' understanding and experiences or perceptions of the different innovations that RAN has been nurturing and developing over the years. The respondents were purposively selected based on availability and on being located in any of the four Northern Uganda districts of Apac, Kole, Lira and Oyam where WOUGNET has actively engaged with women farmers. From the study, it was clear that men and women farmers are willing to embrace new technologies, practices and innovations in their pursuit of enhanced agricultural productivity and new opportunities. That said, a clearly gendered view emerged from the assessment in 4 that uptake of the innovations was to a large extent driven by socio-cultural norms and expectations related to issues of ownership, work, decision making capacity, and income generation and control. For instance, use of the innovations can reduce time spent on farming activities and can open up time and space to explore new opportunities. However, if gender considerations are not taken into account, such time could be used to negatively impact on the work burden for women farmers as it may be taken that the women are now free to take on new workeven that which would have been previously done by the men in their households.

Using trout producer survey data and the contingent valuation method, we estimate willingness to pay for a potential insurance policy. The survey was conducted in 2005 across the United States; 268 producers completed the survey instrument, resulting in a response rate of 81 percent. Design of the contingent valuation method takes into account two coverage levels and four premium rates. Using standard willingness-to-pay techniques, we assess the premium rate that producers with varying practices and regions are willing to pay for two different coverage levels of insurance. In general, trout producers appear willing to pay premium rates of 2 to 11 percent for these coverage levels.

Çalışma, yem bitkilerinin sürdürülebilirliğine etki eden faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın kapsamını, Sivas İlinde yem bitkisi üretimi yapan üreticiler oluşturmaktadır. Ana materyalini ise tabakalı tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen 58 üreticiden anket yolu ile toplanan veriler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, yem bitkisi üretiminin sürdürülebilirliğinde etkili olan en önemli faktörler; hayvancılık faaliyetinin devam etmesi, hayvan sayısının artması, hayvansal ürünlerin fiyatlarının tatminkâr olması, arazi varlığı, üretim maliyeti, hayvansal ürünlerin diğer ürünlerden karlı olmasıdır. Yem bitkisi desteklemelerinin de ekim alanı ve üretim miktarının arttırılmasına katkı sağladığı belirlenmiştir. Üreticilerin mevcut destek miktarını yeterli bulmadığı, destek miktarı artarsa yem bitkisi ekim alanını artıracağı ve yeteri kadar destek verilirse nadas yılında da yem bitkisi yetiştireceği belirlenmiştir. Yem bitkileri üretiminde sürdürülebilirlik açısından etkili faktörleri belirlemek için yapılan regresyon analizi sonucu, üreticilerin yaşı, mesleki deneyimi, hayvan sayısı ve hayvanı olmasa dahi yem bitkisi yetiştirme isteği, sürdürülebilirlik için etkili faktörler olarak belirlenmiştir.

In Turkey, grape cultivation is directly affected by the adverse effects of climate change. Viticulture has an important for the Turkish economy with a production of approximately 4.2 million tons. However, the viticulture sector is facing climate-related risks, including drought, which threaten the livelihoods' producers. Additionally, there is a lack of information regarding the extent to which livelihoods 'producers, both in general agricultural enterprises and specifically grape producers, are vulnerable to climate change and how this vulnerability varies among regions. This study aims to fill this gap. There has been no prior study that measures livelihood vulnerability to climate change in Turkey, neither in general for agricultural enterprises nor specifically for grape producers. The primary data for this study were collected through face-to-face interviews with 466 grape producers who operate in 35 districts of 8 provinces, which are among the major grape producers in 6 regions of Turkey. The Livelihood Effect Index (LEI) was used to calculate livelihood vulnerability. In the calculation of the LEI index, the capital elements possessed by enterprises were evaluated under separate headings, such as human capital, social capital, natural capital, financial capital, and physical capital. In addition, the exposure levels of enterprises to climate change were also assessed. As a result of the study, among the climate events faced by enterprises, extreme drought (2.25) and temperature increases (2.01) were found to be above the moderate level, while other climate events faced by enterprises included delayed rainfall season (1.94), frost events (1.77), shortened rainfall season (1.70), and hail events (1.68). Additionally, the Livelihood Effect Index (LEI) value for grape producers was calculated as 0.44, indicating that producers have a moderate susceptibility to the effects of shocks such as climate change on their livelihoods. It was observed that physical capital element constituted the most vulnerable capital element (0.790) for enterprises when faced with disasters such as climate change. Financial capital (0.582) and natural capital (0.436) had a moderate impact on the vulnerability of livelihoods. In provinces with higher livelihood vulnerability, such as Malatya (0.495), Adıyaman (0.490), and Elazığ (0.475), there is a need for activities to increase adaptation levels. The results may guide relevant stakeholders and policymakers in developing adaptation strategies, considering the different sensitivity levels of enterprise structures and the varying dimensions of exposure of climate change.

Ceviz dünyada ve ülkemizde önemli bir besin kaynağıdır. Sanayi alanındaki kullanımı dolayısıyla ekonomik değeri olan ve çok yaygın üretilen bir üründür. Ceviz bitkisi ekonomik ömrü çok uzun olan, kuraklığa ve ekstrem değerlere karşı dayanıklıdır. Bu özellikleri dolayısı ile geniş bir yayılım sahasına sahiptir. Ceviz Latince bilimsel adıyla Junglans regia L. olarak bilinmekte ve Juglandales takımı içerisinde yer almaktadır. Bu araştırma bir tarım coğrafyası çalışması olup ülkemizde de yaygın olarak üretimi yapılan cevizin Kahramanmaraş'taki üretiminin mevcut durumunu, dağılışını ve Türkiye genelindeki yerini ortaya koymaktadır. Kahramanmaraş ili coğrafi olarak Akdeniz bölgesinin doğusunda ye almakta ve yükseltisi de 150 m. ile 3027 m arasında değişmektedir. Bölge iklim yapısı ve verimli toprakları nedeniyle özellikle meyve türlerinin yetiştiriciliği açısından oldukça elverişlidir. Dünyada ve Anadolu'da çok eski bir geçmişe sahip olan ceviz, Kahramanmaraş'ta da geniş bir üretim alanına hem de önemli bir üretim miktarına sahiptir. 2017 Türkiye ceviz üretim verileri kullanılarak elde edilen haritalar ve grafiklerde de görüldüğü üzere K.Maraş en çok ceviz üretimi yapılan il olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Kahramanmaraş üretim konusunda en çok yapan illerden biri olsa da üretim potansiyelinden tam anlamıyla yararlanamamaktadır. Bu durumu ortaya çıkaran en önemli sebep ise meyve veriminin düşük olmasıdır.

Endüstriyel tarımsal üretimin doğal kaynaklar, iklim değişimi ve insan sağlığı üzerindeki olumsuz etkileri her geçen gün daha fazla hissedilmektedir. Havayı, toprağı ve suyu kirletmeyen, insan sağlığına zararı olmayan ve iklim değişimine olumlu etkileri bulunan tarımsal sistemlerin yaygınlaşmasına ihtiyacımız artmaktadır. Yapılan son araştırmalara göre insan kaynaklı karbon salımının yarısına yakını endüstriyel tarım kaynaklıdır. Sürdürülebilir tarım sistemlerinden biri olan ekolojik tarım, toprak ve su başta olmak üzere doğal kaynakları koruyup geliştirebilecek ve iklim değişimi ile mücadele edebilecek bir sistemdir. Ancak üretim şeklinden, pazarlamasına kadar tüm süreçte sürdürülebilirliğin bileşenleri olan sosyal, ekonomik ve çevresel dengeleri gözetmekten uzaklaşan yapısıyla kaygıları artırmaktadır. İkincil verilerin kullanıldığı bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de ekolojik tarımın mevcut durumu ve ekonomik boyutu ortak ilkeler ve iklim değişimine etkisi kapsamında incelenmiş olup, ilgili mevzuat çerçevesinde gelişme boyutları ile limitleri tartışılmıştır. Sürdürülebilir tarımın tüm boyutlarını karşılaması ve iklim değişimine olumlu etkilerinin sağlanabilmesi için ekolojik tarımın felsefe ve ilkelerine uygun yapılması gerekmektedir.

Plant diseases pose significant threats to human welfare by impairing plants and their products, vital for sustenance, clothing, and environmental stability. Ethiopia's faba bean production suffers from various diseases, notably chocolate spot and the emerging faba bean gall disease, causing substantial yield losses. Literature reviews on these diseases emphasize their importance, epidemiology, and management strategies. Effective management involves diverse approaches like crop residue management, rotation, intercropping, elicitor-induced resistance, resistant genotypes, bio agents, compost teas, plant extracts, and chemical fungicides. Extensive studies cover its life cycle, signs, symptoms, host range, and diverse management options like crop rotation, resistance varieties, seed treatment, early planting, soil amendments, spacing, weed management, and biological control. Genetic modification, integrated pest management, irrigation practices, foliar sprays, soil solarization, biotechnology, monitoring, and early detection, alongside education and awareness, are potential strategies for effective gall disease management. Integrating these methods, particularly late sowing, mixed cropping, fungicide application, and rotation, reduces disease severity and enhances yield. The need of integrated disease control is demonstrated by the notable effectiveness of foliar spraying Bayleton on particular genotypes against faba bean gall disease in the South Gondar zone of northwest Ethiopia.

Field experiment and household survey data are combined to investigate whether working in a risky occupation such as fishing makes fishermen have different risk preferences than individuals in other occupations. Prospect theory is utilized as the main analytical framework and a structural model approach is developed to simultaneously correlate the parameters of the utility function under prospect theory with other socioeconomic variables. The key finding is that working in fishing makes economic agents less risk averse than others. Fishermen also tend to be less sensitive to probability weighting changes in the experiment. It is possible that fishermen have adapted to their unique environment by using specific heuristics for decision making under conditions of uncertainty.

The main focus of this paper is to give an introduction review of the modern technology techniques, their value, usage and contribution to better agriculture. In the recent past, the basic agricultural technologies such as machines has changed; as much as the modern technologies, harvesters and planters perform better or are slightly altered from their predecessors. The current US$250,000 combine harvester still cuts, threshes and separates grains as always was being done in the past. However, modern technology is transforming the ways humans operate the machines, GPS Systems Locators, as computer monitoring systems and self-driven software allow advanced tractors and other equipment to be more accurate and economical in the use of fuel, seeds or fertilizer. This study aimed at establishing the value and contribution of using modem technology techniques in the adoption of Agriculture. Content analysis was done on selected developing and developed countries using purposive sampling on the content covered. The data extracted from the content analysis was analyzed quantitatively. It was established that countries that have embraced modern technology in their Agricultural practices have more output in Agricultural production and are more food-stable as opposed to those countries that have not fully embraced the use of modern technology techniques in Agriculture. Therefore, the study concluded that as technology becomes more advanced and complex, in future, there is likely to be a mass production of driverless tractors and other agricultural machinery which will likely be required to make use electronic sensors and GPS maps, requiring less human intervention with greater agricultural output.

En este trabajo se presentan los resultados del análisis de distintas líneas de evidencia
vinculadas al pastoreo practicado con camélidos sudamericanos en los sitios La
Bolsa 1 y La Bolsa 2 en el valle de Tafí (Tucumán) entre los siglos II a.C. y IX d.C. La
particularidad de este caso se debe a la ausencia casi total de restos faunísticos en
el registro arqueológico en un contexto en el que dicha práctica fue significativa en
la reproducción social de los grupos humanos. En consecuencia, por medio de la
articulación del estudio arquitectónico (morfología y modos de construir corrales) la
materialidad producida por esta actividad (i.e. huesos, estatuillas, suelos) y el análisis
espacial se pretenden esbozar algunas características de esta práctica llevada a cabo
en una aldea agro pastoril. Como resultado del desarrollo del pastoreo los pobladores
adoptaron una tradición en la que los animales y sus lógicas contribuyeron a una
particular construcción del paisaje en el que los espacios doméstico y productivo
estaban integrados.

The study was centered on analysis of profitability in pepper (Capsicum spp) production in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria. The study utilized multistage sampling to select 172 farmers in the study area. Structured copies of questionnaire were appropriated in eliciting information from the farmers. Out of the 172 copies of questionnaires dispatched, only 160 were retrieved. Data for the study were analysed using frequency count, percentages, mean score, farm budgeting model, and multiple regression. The result showed that 69.4% of the marketers were female while 30.6% were male. In the same vein, 57.5% farmers were majorly within the age range of 31-43 years and 50.6% of these farmers were married. Contrastingly, while 100% of the farmers used agrochemicals in their farming operation, the 100% did not apply fertilizer in their farms. Results from the farm budgeting model showed that average annual net farm income (profit) was ₦59,234.52 for 0.12 hectares. The average gross farm income realized per annum stood at ₦180, 8250, the variable cost was ₦407,665.6 and the estimated gross margin was ₦1,400,584 per annum. Results from mean score analysis showed that the most dominant constraint was flooding with a mean score of 3.91875 greater than the 2.5 benchmarks. Following these findings, the study recommended that government should encourage unemployed youths to go into pepper production so that the gap between demand and supply can be narrowed.

ÖZ Bu çalışmada Zonguldak ili Devrek ilçesi yerel ürünü baston üretimi ve pazarlanması ile kadın girişimciliği ile yöresel ürünleri yerel lezzetlere dönüştüren iki ayrı kooperatifin faaliyeti incelenerek analiz ve çıkarımlar yapılmıştır. Devrek'te baston üretimi yapan çok sayıda üretici bulunmaktadır. Ancak yerel ürünlerin geleneksel üretim tekniklerine uygun olarak üretiminin yapılması ve faaliyetin sürekliliğinin sağlanmasında kooperatifin etkili olduğu görülmektedir. Dünyada nüfus artışıyla birlikte, gıda arz güvenliği önemli hale gelmiş, arz güvenliği de miktar ve hacimle ilişkilendirildiğinden kaliteden daha önemli etken olmuştur. Güvenilir gıda talebi (kaliteli gıda), organik ürün ve yerel lezzetleri de içine katarak geliştiğinden, gıda üretimi de bu talebi karşılayacak şekilde dönüşüp değişmektedir. Bu dönüşümde kadın kooperatifleri bir işletmecilik modeli sunmaktadır. Bu modelde kadınlar sermayeye ihtiyaç duymaksızın hem ekonomik faaliyette bulunup ticari hayatın içinde yer alabilmekte hem de sosyal dayanışma ile işbirliği alanını genişletmektedirler. Devrekli kadınlar tarafından yönetilen kooperatif faaliyetiyle hem yöresel ürünler yerel lezzet olarak ticari değer kazanmakta hem de sosyal ve ticari hayatta daha çok görünür olan kadınların özgüveni artmaktadır. Devrek'te; kadınların kooperatif faaliyetinden beklentilerinin %62'sini (kendine güven, sosyalleşme ve birlik olma) bireysel gelişim ve toplumsal sorumluluk alanı oluşturmaktadır. Kooperatif ortağı veya kooperatifle işbirliği içinde olmakla Devrekli kadınların; %78'i kendine güveni sağlamakta, %96'sı sosyal yaşamın içinde daha fazla yer almakta , %74'ü de birlik ve dayanışma davranışını ortaya koyabilmektedir. Yerel el sanatı ürünlerin, sanatsal değerinin de korunarak, üretim sürekliliğini sağlayabilmek için kooperatif gibi örgütlü yapılara ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır. Devrek için hem ticari hem de kültürel değeri bulunan "Devrek Bastonunun" sanatsal değerini korumak için kooperatif önemli bir buluşma yeri olmuştur.

Bilimsel bir gercek olan ve gunluk yasamin her alaninda etkisi gorulmeye baslanan iklim degisikligi her gecen gun etkisini artirmaktadir. Ulkemizin ise dunya uzerinde bulundugu konum nedeniyle iklim degisikliginden onemli olcude etkilenecegi ongorulmektedir. Hali hazirda bir tarim ulkesi olmasi ve sanayisinin de buyuk oranda tarima bagli olmasi nedeniyle kuresel iklim degisikligi ulkemiz tarimsal uretimi acisindan buyuk onem tasimaktadir. Tarimin onemli bir kolu olan sus bitkileri yetistiriciligi ulkemizde de ekonomik getirisi cok yuksek bir sektor halini almistir. Sus bitkileri yetistiriciligi buyuk oranda ortu altinda yapilmakla birlikte, degisen ilkim kosullarindan onemli olcude etkilenmektedir. Iklim degisiklikleri nedeniyle yetistirildikleri alanlarin kisitlanmasi, tur sayilarindaki azalma, yetistirildikleri ortu alti sistemlerde iklimlendirme maliyetlerinin artmasi, muhafaza suresi gibi sorunlar kacinilmaz olacaktir. The aim of this study was to determine the 65 aged and over consumers' milk and milk products consumption who living in Burdur province and district. Pasteurized and UHT milk consumption and their spending on milk and milk products were decreased of the elderly people who have the lower income and the difference between groups were found to be statistically significant (p <0.001). The places where the milk was purchased, were different among income groups and the difference between groups were found to be statistically significant (p <0.005). The people who joined our research, they were mostly prefer using milk (35.2%) during the hours morning and fall months (26.75%) and they consume milk mostly (50.5%) drinking milk. The most consumers were found to be careful the price of fresh milk (27.02%), while buying sterilized milk, they were pay attention the expiration date (41.45%). All results are evaluated over the 65 years and older consumers, the lower income level of people preferred cheaper and outdoor products and the taste of product as effective as the price while purchased it. According to us the production of aroma and nutrient content more customized products will increase the consuption and we believe that the consumption habits and quantity will increase when the special discount for the milk and milk products for this age group.

Türkiye'de yapılan toplulaştırma projelerinden, sadece dağınık halde bulunan tarlaların birleştirilmesi ile bu tarlalara yol ve su ağının ulaştırılması anlaşılmaktadır. Altyapı çalışmaları ile sosyal ve kültürel çalışmalar maalesef Türkiye'de istenilen seviyede değildir. Bunun en büyük sebeplerinden biri de toplulaştırma projeleri için yeterli ödeneğin ayrılmamasıdır. Bu araştırmada; bazı arazi toplulaştırma projeleri ile ilgili anket sonuçlarının analizi yapılmış olup, yapılan analizlerin sonuçları incelenmiş ve çıkan sonuçlar tartışılmıştır. Çıkan sonuçların etkilerinin hangi yönde olduğu, yapılan çalışmalar sayesinde ortaya çıkmıştır. Çalışmada arazi toplulaştırma projelerindeki faydaların yanı sıra projenin yapımı sırasında karşılaşılan sorunlar da irdelenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında incelenen projeler; 1-Burdur ilinin merkez ilçesine bağlı Kozluca kasabası, 2-Isparta ilinin merkez ilçesine bağlı Bozanönü köyü 3-Konya ili-Güneysınır ilçesi Alanözü kasabası Arazi toplulaştırma projeleridir.
