Ada daun jati, daun pisang, daun anggrek, daun ganja, daun ketela, daun tembakau, daun kamboja, daun pandan, dan sederet dedaunan lain yang mustahil untuk disebutkan di sini satu-persatu semuanya. Masing-masing daun memiliki bentuk, ukuran dan kegunaan yang berbeda. Memang warnanya sama-sama hijau, namun bila diperhatikan lagi, setiap daun memiliki gradasi kehijauan yang membuatnya tak sama satu sama lain. Dan supaya dapat memahami dengan lebih gampang, tanpa perlu berpikir panjang, kita kerap menamakan yang beragam itu sebagai 'daun'.

HIKAYAT PANDAWA JAYA ("The Story of the Victorious Pandawas") (transliteration, research, addenda, comments by L.V. Goriaeva). The edition is based on the most complete, yet unpublished version of the Malay Mahabharata (manuscript Raffles Malay 2 from the Royal Asiatic Society collection). Its plot motifs do not go back directly to the Indian Mahabharata but to the Old-Javanese epic tradition of the 11th-12th centuries and the plays of the Indonesian puppet theater wayang purwo. The example of HIKAYAT PANDAWA JAYA clearly traces not only the link between the Old-Javanese and early Malay literature but also the mutual influence of the oral, written and theatrical traditions of Nusantara.

Meulanggeh is the Acehnese vocabulary that is used to express something that is not in accordance with tradition or customs. This study discusses the change in the presentation of hikayat by Teungku Adnan PMTOH. Storytelling is an oral tradition that lives and develops in the coastal communities of Aceh. The presentation uses cha'e (rhythm) that is displayed in traditional events, marriages, cultural events or just fill in spare time at the meunasah (surau) or at the coffee shop. Changes in the presentation of the hikayat that were originally presented only relied on the power of cha'e, by Teungku Adnan was changed into a speech theater performance that made the stories and characters in the saga more lively. This change brought renewal in Aceh's performing arts.
