To study the uncertain optimization problems on implementation schedule, time-cost trade-off and quality in enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation, combined with program evaluation and review technique (PERT), some optimization models are proposed, which include the implementation schedule model, the timecost trade-off model, the quality model, and the implementation time-cost-quality synthetic optimization model. A PERT-embedded genetic algorithm (GA) based on stochastic simulation technique is introduced to the optimization models solution. Finally, an example is presented to show that the models and algorithm are reasonable and effective, which can offer a reliable quantitative decision method for ERP implementation.

The enterprise resource planning (ERP) is an ever-growing software used globally and in all sectors of business to increase productivity and efficiency, however, the south African market does not show any symptoms that it needs such facilities as we tangle the whys and how's on this case study. We use previous studies from the literatures that show an ever-thriving sector such as the South African retail can continue to thrive in the absence of ERP and remain relevant and the biggest market contributors as they have been for the past decades. We focus our sources from year 2020 to 2022 to further influence our case to openly clarify the question of the implementation of ERP system. Our studies settle the unanswered question of the implement ability of an ERP system in the retail sector by exploring both functioning and failed installations and how those were resolved, the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity in the absence and presence of ERP system in place in similar economies such as the South African retail sector, both in the past and present times. The south African retail sector has adopted expensive and difficult to maintain ERP systems, which has a drastic increased improvement in the productivity together with the risks of failure. Such risks were witnessed with Shoprite closing doors in Botswana, Nigeria, and Namibia, this has been proof in failure of expensive and fully paid enterprise resource planning that still failed in more than one country. Our solutions consist of methodology contributed an easy to implement solutions to the retail sectors and can be adapted for different purpose, the integration between large retailers and our system would save millions, time and resources.

One of the six gaming concession holders in Macao, Macao Entertainment Corp (MEC)1, undertook to centralize three casino/entertainment properties through utilization of a centralized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in April 2010. The Supply Chain (SC) department was the first to apply the ERP in this centralization process. After rolling-out the new ERP system, a number of problems arose due to the organizational changes required. To identify the problems, information was collected through questionnaires and interviews in order to determine the level of agreement by staff regarding the existence of issues typical to such organizational change. The present paper aims to determine what problems and challenges occurred in this initial implementation to assist in developing recommendations to mitigate those effects in subsequent rollouts.

The intent of the paper is to analize the way the economic efficiency of a firm relates with the informational system of the supply chain management. Supply chain management, represents, in the context of globalisation and increased outsourcing, a critical component of the firms’ management system. At the same time the complexity of the information, the number of variables and parameters used in the decisional system demands information technology as a physical support for the informational system. The starting premises are represented by the efficiency and productivity sources of a firm and their connexions with the supply chain management and the firm’s informational system. For the efficiency of the supply chain management were used indicators offered by the quality management system. (rate at which potential customers are transformed into actual customers, average time for delivery, the magnitude and the rotation speed of the inventory, etc.) Regarding the economic efficiency there were used indicators like costs, cost savings, profitability. For these indicators it was realized an estimation of the impact the implementation of an ERP system would have. As an analysis tool a cost-benefit analysis was used. The cost-benefit analysis considered the incomes and costs as well as the indirect effects. Some indicators were calculated: Internal Revenue Rate (IRR), Net Present Value (NPV). To increase flexibility there were used calculus tables that allow fast actualisation of the results in function the value changes of different parameters. The conclusion is that the investement in the informational system, that can significantly increase the supply chain management efficiency, leads to important economic effects that are higher than the effects of investments in fixed assets.

The blending of Internet technologies and traditional business concerns impacts all industries and is the latest phase in the ongoing evolution of business. In this changing business environment, the most successful companies are those that leverage their investment in Web-based technologies by implementing e-business solutions supported by sound existing infrastructures based on well-functioning Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. This paper presents a framework for understanding e-business opportunities within the context of a traditional enterprise and its infrastructure and examines the evolving relationship between e-business and ERP. These developments are moving businesses toward the concept of e-Supply Chain to achieve true supply chain integration. The issues and challenges faced by organizatio...
