Chatbots are not a recent development. They are simulations which can understand human language, process it, and interact back with humans while performing concrete tasks. A chatbot, for example, can work as a customer service representative. The first chatbot was engendered by Joseph Wiesenbaum in 1966, designated Eliza. It all commenced when Alan Turing published an article designated "Computer Machinery and Intelligence", and raised an intriguing question, "Can machine cerebrate?", Since then, we've seen several chatbots that appear to be more naturally conversational and technologically advanced than their predecessors. These advancements have led us to an era where conversations with chatbots have become as mundane and natural as with another human.
This abstract includes the total quantum of the chatbot. A new approach to computer-to-mortal business is handed by conversational interfaces, or chatbots as they're generally known. In the history, exercising a quest machine or completing a form was demanded in order to have a software programme respond to a query, as programs were fully reckoned on syntax and semantics of the programming language and it was veritably delicate for the nonprogrammers to communicate with computers. With a chatbot, a customer may principally interrogate request the same way they would with a mortal. Voice chatbots like Alexa and Siri are right now the most well-known feathers of chatbots. On the other hand, chatbot handover rates on computer discourse platforms are presently truly strong. You may make a introductory chatbot by adding generally asked questions (FAQs) to chatbot software. major invention companies to prepare common shoptalk. Integrating the chatbot with the company's enterprise software can enhance its capabilities. The maturity of marketable chatbots calculate on platforms developed by the major technology companies to exercise natural language. Amazon Lex, IBM Watson, Face book Deep Text, Google Cloud Natural Language API, Slack, Skype, and Microsoft Cognitive Services are a numerous of these.

A chatbot is software used to develop interaction between a user/human and a computer/system in natural language, similar to human chats. Chatbots converse with the customer in a discussion following input from a human and a response to the customer. It makes the user believe that he is chatting with a human while chatting with the computer. The chatbot application helps the student to get information about the college admission process and get quick answers from anywhere with an internet connection. This chatbot system reduces the workload of the admissions department by providing students or parents with the information they need and also reduces the workload of the department, which has to constantly answer all the students' questions.

Chatbots are computer programs that interact with users using natural languages. This technology started in the 1960's; the aim was to see if chatbot systems could fool users that they were real humans. However, chatbot systems are not only built to mimic human conversation, and entertain users. In this paper, we investigate other applications where chatbots could be useful such as education, information retrival, business, and e-commerce. A range of chatbots with useful applications, including several based on the ALICE/AIML architecture, are presented in this paper.

The National Education Policy, 2020 emphasizes on the need to generate awareness as well as conduct research on various aspects of the emerging disruptive technologies. Chatbots are one of the disruptive technologies which are finding its way into education. Chatbots are the software programmes which can take the form of text/voice; facial mode or robots and can act like a helping hand to the teacher. Chatbots with and without educational intentions are being used in education for various purposes. With educational intention, chatbots developed on the basis of socio-constructivist approaches of learning can be used for various purposes like providing interactive quizzes, acting like virtual tutors, programmes for exercise and practice, assessment, answering questions, delivering videos of past lectures. Chatbots developed on the basis of behaviorist and cognitivist approaches of learning are used to perform various activities which do not have educational intentions like answering the FAQs related to course, handling many repetitive questions raised by students regarding project guidelines, deliverables, deadlines, grades, etc. Chatbots in education is less explored area and acceptance of chatbots by education stakeholders and its integration and effectiveness in education need to be explored further.
