Selangor is leading the other thirteen states in Malaysia in the economy, making it one of the most preferred places to stay for its economic flourish, employment prospect, great infrastructure, and excellent facilities. Selangor is ranked the highest by contributing 23% of its National Gross National Product to Malaysia. Nevertheless, for social indicators, Selangor ranked fourth in the country. Social development was not at par with the fast-growing economy and the extensive physical developments that take place. Selangor is leading in the economy and contributes towards 23% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Malaysia. Does its social status equate to its economic status? This paper examined the element of Quality of Life (QoL), underpinning the twelve domains provided by the state across all of its town municipals. A total of 1500 questionnaires were distributed to Selangorians as the targeted respondents by using random and non-proportionate stratified samplings. SPSS and SmartPLS were utilised for descriptive and statistical analysis purposes. The findings revealed the domains of building (t-value=2.515), digital infrastructures (t-value=1.986), disaster management (t-value=2.127), food and agriculture (t-value= 2.917), safety and security (t-value=2.217), and transport and mobility (t-value=2.155) were significant towards QoL. In contrast, education (t-values=0.81), energy and utility (t-values=0.074), governance (t-values=1.833), healthcare (t-values=0.816), waste management (t-values=1.708), and water management (t-values=0.88) were found to be not significant towards the construct. These outcomes yield a tool for better governance.

The definition of quality of life is varied. Different individuals may perceive the quality of life in a different form of other individuals. Over more than four decades, Malaysia has made remarkable achievements regarding its economic growth as well as its socio-economic development. Numerous factors have been identified that may influence the quality of life of the people according to their personal preferences. This article assessed the perception of 100 respondent's lives in two major cities in Malaysia namely Johor Bharu and Petaling. These cities are also the major district in Johor Darul Takzim and Selangor Darul Ehsan. These study also would be focusing on the economic well-being of the individual. The economic individual is economic capacity, transportation, living condition and educational satisfaction.

This conceptual literature review draws on the theoretical framework of absolute poverty, relative poverty, and causal attributions in defining and explaining poverty in urban areas. Psychological and social well-being are known as significant aspects of an individual’s life. Social well-being is an issue that is increasingly being discussed today. In Malaysia, the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) has released well-being indices under Prime Minister's Department. They were starting with the Malaysian Quality of Life Index 1999 (IKHM 1999) and finally the Malaysians Well-being Index 2018 (IKRM 2018). The index has been a measure of the well-being of the people in Malaysia until today. This study was conducted specifically to discuss social well-being in Malaysia. The construction of this social well-being questionnaire items on the basis of the five elements of Maqasid Syariah, namely Protection of Religion, Protection of Life, Protection of Intellect, Protection of lineage, and Protection of Wealth. The original total number of social welfare items was 113, but after factor analysis had been done, the total number of items was only 102. These items are under five main indicators, namely religious care and belief, living needs, social issues, social opportunities, and politics and stability. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test and Bartlett's test of sphericity found that all factors exceeded the minimum value. Still, the factors needed to be rearranged according to the results of the factor analysis.

This paper intends to study the condition of wellbeing and social exclusion in Indonesia and Malaysia during the period of 2010-2015. This paper describing the demographic, social and political contexts of the the two countries to understanding how those factors and policy of the state contribute to their wellbeing condition. Secondary data Analysis of Indonesia and Malaysia have shown that conceptually there is a positive relationship between the integrative and comprehensive government policies toward the declining process of social exclusion, especially multiple deprivation related to unemployment and relative poverty. The process of social exclusion based on the vertical dimension can be dealt with if the government policy can be consistently implemented within a certain time period.
The paper aims to examine the strata (rural and urban), type of household (able-bodied and vulnerable), ethnic and gender differences in well-being among Malaysian households. Vulnerable households in this study were households that had at least one of the following criteria: income poor, elderly person, single mothers and/or disabled person. Data was taken from the Official Poverty Line Survey conducted in four Malaysian cities representing each region in Peninsular Malaysia. Using convenient sampling method, a total 516 households were interviewed face-to-face. Descriptive statistics such as mean, t-test and ANOVA test analyses were applied to examine the group differences between variables. The findings indicate strata and ethnic differences in well-being, in which urban and Malay ethnic households had higher level of well-being than rural, Indian and Chinese households. The results also revealed that among the three dimensions of well-being, Malay ethnic households had highest level of personal domain satisfaction than Indian and Chinese households; urban and Malay households had higher level of public domain satisfaction than rural, Chinese and Indian households; and finally, able-bodied households had higher level of economic status satisfaction than vulnerable households. Social well-being is a condition where a community feels safe and comfortable living their lives without any constraints from anyone. Hence, it is vital to discover the main elements contributing to a community's social well-being in a multi-ethnic country. This systematic review aims to discover the social well-being elements through the lens of the Malay low-income group in Malaysia after 14th general election. Urbanisation, a human settlement is growing from a village to a megacity. However, there are few cases of villages, which had been lacking behind in the trend of urbanisation. For instance, Kampong Bharu (New Village) had been maintained as a village setting even though it is located within the boundary of Kuala Lumpur city. A study has been carryout to examine the residents’ well-being of the Kampong Bharu by using a questionnaire survey and statistical analysis. The discovery of social well-being concept of a community will help to nourish the growth of a nation. This is because, effective policy will be made accordingly to the actual needs of a community and this will ensure a harmonize society because they gain mutual respect through setting the boundaries of how others should behave when dealing with them. Thus, this article aims to discover social well-being concept of the low-income among Malays in Malaysia after 14th general election. To date, no article has been done on this topic particularly in the timeline of post Malaysia 14 th general election, the time when a major shift power that happened first time after 60 years. The transition of power has changed the norm of the society. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the interviews transcripts of six informants among low-income Malays and two experts using thematic analysis to find out the concept of social well-being of the lowincome Malays after GE-14. Ibn Khaldun thoughts on well-being society will be included in this paper as well. Taking qualitative approach by using in-depth interview, thematic analysis and triangulation, this paper expects to gain a valid information regarding on this topic. Further analysis of the articles through qualitative analysis ensued in five core themes on social well-being elements of the low-income group among Malays after GE-14, which are 5 key themes, (a) sufficient expenses to fulfill basic needs, (b) protection of Islam, (c) undisputed special rights of the Malays, (d) harmonious living between races and (e) access to a quality education. These findings can contribute to steadfast the field of social well-being study, especially in a multi-ethnic democratic nation.
