Between-places : the dry paintings, by Luiz Monken

Considering painting as a process experience helps in understanding the “dry paintings” of the Brazilian artist Luiz Monken. The support of the tradition is replaced by the MDF (fiber wood), creating new technique to reconcile acrylic paint and fire, responsible for the baroque blackness of its pictorial spaces. Instead of the brush, the massarico that burns the surface and draws the volumetric shapes. The confrontation between being and nothing, empty and full, abstract and concrete, infinitude and finitude, point to intermediate places: between-placesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
