INTRODUCTION Agriculture is the basis of economic structure of the district, where 75.20 percent of the total population are directly engaged in agricultural activities. The annual growth of population has exerted ever increasing pressure on land. As a result agricultural density in relation to the available land has been increasing. The regional pattern of agricultural growth and level of development is affected by various socio-economic constraints. In order to understand the level of agricultural development in different parts of the district, it is necessary to analyse these constraints so that they can be removed as far as practicable to achieve desirable goal of development.

Tourism is emerging as an important global industry in the 21st and for the last four decades or so a tourism revolution has been sweeping the world. As compared to other parts of our country, Assam is in a unique position with regard to the choices it can offer to a tourist, simply because of her diversity of culture, green natural beauty, and environment. Apart from living in the lap of nature, the State also has a rich heritage and offers the erudite and even the ordinary traveler a fascinating glimpse into the pages of Indian history and its mystical religious centers. Religion is an emotional and very much sensitive subject for men ever. Almost all the major religion of the world has its own mysteries, wonders, myth, and facts which restricts and controls men for a continuation of a better life and spiritual upliftment. Like many other parts of Assam, Gohpur and Biswanath sub-division in Sonitpur district are the two places of assimilation of diverse ethnic people with rich cul...

The colorful life of the people, their traditional customs, festivals and dances are some of the components of the rich cultural diversity of India as well as its northeastern region including Assam. Culture is not a static identity and keeps changing. The changing environmental development makes internal adaptation necessary for culture. Thus, a lot of changes have also been observed in the Mising culture too. The impact of urbanisation and modernization has brought a major eeconomic and socio-cultural transformation among the Mising tribe of Assam. Their society is changing not only in the aspects of socioeconomic and political areas butalsointraditional beliefs andcultural practices. With the above background, an attempt has been made to understand the traditional and cultural practices among the Mising Tribe of Assam in particular and ruralurban context in general.

The population growth of Assam is very high which is even higher than the country’s average growth. It is observed that there is an inter district disparities in the growth of population in Assam. Five districts of lower Assam, i.e. Dhuburi, Goalpara, Darrang,Barpeta, Bongaigaon two districts of Barak valley i.e. Karimganj, Hailakandi and two district of Middle Assam i.e. Nagaon and Marigaon, are showing very significant growth of population. Muslims dominated the above nine districts recording growth rate ranging from 20 per cent to 24 percent during the last decade against national average of 18 percent. On the other hand, the eastern Assam districts mostly in upper Assam registered around a nine percent population growth only. Muslims constituted 30.9 percent of the state’s population in 2001 and it has risen to 34.2 percent a decade later. The population density is highest in the Nagaon district having 604 persons per sq.km. All the major religions in Assam except Muslims have l...
Recently, I have visited the place name as “Sutarkandi” near to the Karimganj town and found the place having a great potential and scope in respect of tourism. The Sutarkandi is the place 14 Kilometre from the Karimganj town, which is situated in the district of Karimganj, Assam having Indo-Bangla border that, contained a principal custom check post through which border trade flows to Bangladesh from Assam, India. The National Highway 151(old) or 37 (New) roads is passing through Sutarkandi which is 45 km from border to the Sylhet town of Bangladesh. The Stutarkandi is directly connected to Karimganj Town of Assam as well as with the entire North Eastern states and rest of the country. Major share of exports passes through Sutarkandi land customs check point regularly. In that connection the ,Government has declared the place as international trade centre and started the 1st phase of work for Sutarkandi trade centre project in 20th November 2002 which, has been approved by Government of India on 7th January year 2000, under the Critical Infrastructure Balance scheme at a project worth of Rs 8.16 Crores, to provide appropriate infrastructural facilities to the exporters and importers of the region who are already engaged in import/export trade business with the neighbouring country of Bangladesh. The 1st phase of trade centre having an area of 13000 Squire Metter with common facilities as cubicles for exporter/importer, Bank, Post office, Conference hall, Telecom office, Transhipment Plat-form, Ware house, Workshop, Canteen, Weigh Bridge etc. Thus the place can be used as “lowering of the flags ceremony or beating retreat ceremony” same like as “Wagah Border at Indo-Pakistan in Amritsar, Punjab” which can change the socio-economic and tourism scenario of south Assam and the region. If such retreat ceremony can start at Sutarkandi (Karimganj) area by both the country then, large number of tourists will visit the place to enjoy such event that will improve the economic condition of the locality and the Karimganj town as well the Assam also. As the event is international thus, visitors will come all around the India as well as the globe. The broad gauge railway project expansion also is likely to complete shortly, so people from other parts of India can easily come to the place for such event and tour, which will lead boast up of socio-economic and tourism scenario of karimganj and Barak valley also and increase the importance of karimganj town in the region. Such event is helpful for employment generation in State. Many earning sources will generate in region if such event can start by government. Hope readers will support this concept and will give their valuable suggestion and comment on this article. How to reach Sutarkandi: Nearest Airport: Kumbhirgram airport (Silchar), 94 Kilometre. Nearest Railway Station: Karimganj town railway station, 14 Kilometre. Road Link: NH-151 directly passing through the Sutarkandi from Karimganj town, Assam
The culture of the region of Assam, which developed in comparative isolation from the rest of India, has an unbroken unity which is the result of the geographical unity of the Brahmaputra Valley and the surrounding hills with the Heart of Assam. The demographic formation of its population whose culture is the subject of our study is an outcome of the geographical location of the region. Although the political frontiers of the state of Assam may expand and retreat depending on its political fortunes, the geographical limits of the region have been marked out by Nature in such a manner as to ensure that it retains its united cultural identity down the ages. The peculiar geographical location of Assam and the dominant physical characteristics of the region have had a great influence on its cultural developments. As Sanjay Ghosh puts it, "This is one of the few places in the world where a symbiotic relationship between man and nature is actually nurtured through traditional tribal institutions and culture. 1

Assam is one of the eighth states of Northeast India which is known as the Gateway of Northeast. The state is known for its tourism because of its natural beauty and availability of flora and fauna. Assam is endowed with natural and cultural resources which can form the basis for a very lucrative tourism creating employment and generating revenues. Though, it has the great potentialities for the development of tourism, but due to very limited government funds made available to the tourism sector and other various types of challenges, its contribution is not so much encouraging. Tourism industry is economically important and grows rapidly. Assam is well blessed by Nature and it lies at the center of one of the world. Source revel that revenue collected from tourism increase year by year and it directly help in economic development.
All teachers in Morigaon, Assam, India who undergo pre-service training through D.Ed, B.Ed or M.Ed degrees nowadays receive training on the topic of classroom management as a part of their curriculum. The process by which teachers and schools create and maintain appropriate behaviour of students in a classroom and are able to teach all students together in an effective manner is called classroom management. We wanted to find out how effectively the teachers are able to translate their training on classroom management into the real life classroom situation. We also aimed to identify the problems teachers encounter in employing the classroom management techniques in the real life classroom situation and always this can be addressed. For this we want to understand, how a teacher spent their day in school.
