This article investigate the creation, in 1911, of the Serviço de Bibliographia e Documentação in the National Library from Brazil and what would have been the influence of the International Institute of Bibliography (IIB), founded in 1895 by Paul Otlet and Henri La Fontaine. Seeks to demonstrate that the creation of the Bibliography and Documentation Service can be considered part of the international cooperation project by Otlet and La Fontaine. It intends to contextualize the period of transformations by which the Brazilian National Library went through, especially during the construction of a new building and its further occupancy as well as the administrative changes implemented by its director at the time, Manoel Cícero Peregrino da Silva. Este artigo mostra a aplicação de Tecnologia da Informação juntamente com conceitos de GED no Centro de Documentação Histórica da Universidade Severino Sombra. Um sistema desenvolvido em plataforma livre, em funcionamento, com finalidade de disponibilizar imagens digitais de acervos históricos sob guarda do Centro de Documentação Histórica. Presents an overview of sociocultural formations and technological revolutions seen throughout history that influenced the origins and development of Library, Documentation and Information Science. The historical overview presented, establishes a dialogue with the major technological revolutions and social formations, allowing for deeper understanding of phenomena, practices and needs, which reflect the scope of the areas of Library, Documentation and Science Informação.Tal approach confirms the inter-relationships between domains presented, but also stresses its peculiarities, which supports the analysis and discussions about the Library, Documentation, information science in postmodernity.

A apresentacao assenta no proposito de dar a conhecer o projeto co-financiado pela Fundacao Calouste Gulbenkian, Memorias de Oeiras – Colecao Pombalina e Obras do seculo XVIII: Recuperacao, Tratamento e Organizacao de Acervos Documentais . Como introducao, apresentam-se os principais objetivos do projeto ao contribuir para a divulgacao de obras da Rede de Bibliotecas Municipais de Oeiras relacionadas com o Seculo das Luzes e uma das personalidades mais proeminente deste periodo da historia nacional com ligacao profunda ao concelho de Oeiras: o Marques de Pombal. This paper aims to identify and analyze the actions in the Network of Libraries and Information Centers on Art in the State of Rio de Janeiro (REDARTE/RJ), in order to promote the production of new knowledge and implementation of new ideas, minimizing the difficulties met by information professionals who work in institutions which integrate the Network, so that to optimize the users services and the enrichment in the thematic field of Information on art. It investigates if the organizational and informational culture of REDARTE/RJ supports cooperation, collaborative work, information and experience sharing and the use of information and communication technology. It analyses the process of cooperation, sharing and collaboration among the participants of REDARTE/RJ, aiming to verify if the Network might be considered a social knowledge network. It seeks to understand the way that REDARTE/RJ has used and taken advantage of the interaction and collaboration as means to the accomplishment of the purposes determined in its bylaws. It comes to the conclusion that REDARTE/RJ has had a relevant role in Information on art, and has been useful to its users and to the professionals and institutions which are part of it, but in order to become a social knowledge network, there are still some aspects to be improved. the attention of Information Science for its necessary analysis, handling, dissemination, preservation and expansion as an information field.

Purpose/Thesis: In this article we discuss the theoretical common ground of archival science, library science and museum studies share with one another and with information science. Approach/Method: The article offers a systematic review of scholarship in each of the disciplines discussed, starting with foundational texts and progressing through different periods, geographical areas, and traditions of thought. Results and conclusions: We present the historical context in which the three disciplines were established and identify the twentieth-century theoretical developments that resulting rejection of the previously dominant paradigm. We conclude that the concept of information as studied recently may favor the advancement of theoretical perspectives in the three areas and points to the possibility of its epistemological dialogue. Research limitations: The literature review focused on the studies that had the most significant impact on Brazilian scholarship. It could be extended to other countries, and other theories. Practical implications: The results of the presented research may provide a conceptual basis for university courses in archival science, library science and museum studies, as they already do in Brazil. They may also inspire a comparison with other countries. Originality/Value: There are only few studies which combine the analysis of archival science, library science and museum studies; even less relate these disciplines to information science. We believe that considering the theoretical frameworks of all these disciplines together will be beneficial for all.

O termo preservação digital vem sendo cada vez mais tido como importante em dias de conteúdo disponível na internet, e maciçamente neste formato. Uma figura importante nesse contexto que, porém, não tem recebido muita atenção nos estudos é o profissional da informação, e mais especificamente o gestor das unidades de informação com conteúdo digital. O objetivo desse trabalho é introduzir o tema de modo a contribuir com a discussão que ainda conta com esta lacuna, tanto na literatura nacional como na internacional, sob a ótica da Biblioteconomia, Arquivologia e Museologia. Introdução: Neste trabalho, de caráter ensaístico, discute-se alguns aspectos da ética do bibliotecário a partir do pensamento de Paulo Freire. Objetivo: Identificar possíveis especificidades e mesmo orientações conceituais dos diversos fenômenos e pontos relevantes da ética universal do ser humano, situa-se a importância com um código sobre a atuação profissional e práticas bibliotecárias. Método: O viés metodológico resgata textos clássicos, de Freire, intitulado ‘O compromisso do profissional com a sociedade’ e a obra ‘Educação como prática da liberdade’ para construir reflexões acerca da atuação profissional.
