Journal of Posthumanism, 2023
This special issue is dedicated to the 1 st Metahuman Futures Forum held in Lesvos on 1-2 October 2022, as part of the Bodynet-Khorós project co-funded by the European Union 3 and contains part of the theoretical research of the project. The issue comprises a collection of seven papers, a book review, and the Metahuman Futures Manifesto, all of which contribute to the understanding of metahumanism and its relationship with posthumanism and transhumanism in the age of planetary holocaust.

Now that 'cyberspace' has been conquered and with 'Web 2.0' in our rearview mirror, the 'metaverse' is currently being rapidly adopted by the consultant class and industry professionals as the next big thing. Once again the future of the Internet is captured in a buzzword that is equally revered and critiqued as it is misunderstood (van Dijck & Nieborg, 2009). Because of the large capital reserves of investors and big tech companies, there is a widespread sense of urgency not to miss the boat. Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard and Facebook's rebranding to Meta show that platform companies are deeply committed and the stakes are increasing.
The current systems, government, cities, universities and way of things give way to an advanced new age of Intellect. of Metavergence. This support paper has 3 sections that serve as support to the First paper - Prelude to Metavergence. Section1 - The end of the line ; Section 2 - Into the New. Things are going to change. Very significantly. Intellect defines all. Section 3- Extraordinary Systems and Dynamics for MEtavergence. Key features of the new age. New dynamics, Advanced Frames, Temporary structures and Meta Functions. The AEUM and the COVIS. The future university, and the future City. Starting features of these new generation of systems. Dilmeet Grewal.

Metaphenomenalism, 2021
Jean and I are reaching out to others in order to develop the practice of working with rather than working against others in common being understood as meta-phenomenalism, the beyond of appearances. This document is a sort of manifesto of those who would share this practice towards common being on the earth as if we have bodies, which it seems we do! Happily I believe Richard Rorty's new book supports our concept of working with and common being and thus inadvertently, supports meta-phenomenalism without rejecting analyticals per se please note well! My own books prepare an understanding for those who have little appreciation of the problems of synchronicity and the advantages brought by adopting meta-phenomenalism, but we are only just beginning to realise how we may share our practices of it with other creatures great and small.
Metaverse Creativity, 2010
This article discusses simulation as an optimal vehicle for brain plasticity, a primary and distinct area of neuroscience and essential to human enhancement. By speculating on second-order enhancement cybernetics, the article links the 3D, virtual world of the metaverse to an epoch of plasticity, and also frames the practice of enhancement as taking place in this epoch. An arguable key issue of simulation and enhancement is the tension between desire and feasibility: a desire for greater than human attributes and what is technologically feasible for designing and developing such post-biological attributes. For example, a person may desire to have 24-hour remote brain integration with the metaverse but this is not feasible because (1) the technology has not been developed to do this safely; (2) the costs of research and development of artificial general intelligence and nano-robots to build a metabrain integration with the metaverse is vastly expensive; (3) patents have to be secured and take time; (4) the FDA may intervene preventing a human from integrating the brain with the net or metaverse. Further, while a person may desire to be an 'upload' he or she has to face similar circumstances: (1) the technology has been developed to integrate the brain and computer safely; (2) the costs of R and D are enormous; (3) the ethical and moral issues are predominant; (4) this new construct for 'personhood' may have a social and ideological impact.
Proceedings of the Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2022
The Metaverse, a term coined in science fiction, is now being discussed seriously as a new form of infrastructure. The Metaverse is intended to make possible thematically interconnected immersive experiences. In this paper, we conceptualize the Metaverse as a meta design space. Within this space, designers create various interconnected design spaces. We highlight how the key dimensions of human experience (time, space, actors, and artifacts) each introduce tensions for making decisions in those design spaces, and we highlight the transitions between design spaces. This conceptual language opens up this novel and emergent phenomenon both to those wishing to design new disruptive technologies and those seeking to improve existing platform strategies. We conclude by highlighting how the Metaverse will not only comprise immersive virtual experiences but also transitions between physical and virtual experiences.
