The coastline forms an unusual cityscape: because it is linear, developing and outlining an unstable fringe of land, caressed and disputed by the sea; because it offers the ambiguous precarity of bathing facilities on one side of the shoreline and the fixed bulk of residential buildings on the other; it doesn’t have many inhabitants but mainly just guests; and it undergoes seasonal renewal with rites and rituals to set the stage for the holiday scene. The bathing cities are often disputed territories: by the sea, in the case of the beaches; by the regimental and imprisoned rivers in the Riviera; by the cliffs, by the ports and the marine, maritime and production activities; by the abandoned countryside, the coastal scrub and pinewoods; by the imperturbable masses of the railways and roads. The notion of sublimation alludes to a deliverance from sexual aims and is related both to the individual "instictual" vicissitudes and the establishment of social ends. For this reason, it has often become a conceptual tool in the service of progressive preconceptions and ideals of various types, anthropological, clinical, aesthetic. It is useful to analyse one of the most disconcerting sides of this Freudian concept, that is the side that relates it to "desexualization" (a desertion, rather than a deviation of sexual aims), binding it to the collective dynamics of idealization and identification. Da circa 40 anni la catechesi costituisce un campo di innovazione, di sperimentazione, di creazione veramente notevole. In concreto, sotto la pressione della vita, sono apparse nuove forme, nuove modalità di organizzazione della catechesi, rivolte soprattutto agli adulti. A livello di Chiesa universale, il Magistero si è fortemente impegnato nel rinnovamento catechetico. Ricordiamo alcuni interventi: la pubblicazione del Direttorio Catechistico Generale (1971), il Sinodo dei vescovi sulla catechesi (1977), l'Esortazione apostolica Catechesi tradendae (1979), il Catechismo della Chiesa Cattolica (1993) e, infine, il nuovo Direttorio Generale per la Catechesi (1997). Da questo punto di vista, sia alla base sia a livello dei Pastori, possiamo affermare che la catechesi, sin dalla conclusione del Concilio Vaticano II, è entrata in una fase di ricostruzione. Attraverso difficoltà e tentativi, assistiamo alla formazione di un nuovo sistema. Un modello catechetico passa e un altro arriva anche se ancora nell'incertezza, anche se i punti di riferimento teoretici non sono ancora bene stabiliti e le direttive pastorali non sempre sono chiare.
