This study explores Indonesian perceptions of entrepreneurs and the ethical challenges they face within the context of the country's unique cultural and economic landscape. The findings highlight how factors such as corruption, collectivism, and deference to authority create significant barriers to ethical entrepreneurial behavior. Future research is necessary to develop an understanding of how to foster an ethical environment for entrepreneurship in Indonesia, particularly given the limitations of the current qualitative research and the lack of comprehensive studies on this topic.

The youths are characterized by their reckless and ambitious behavior. They exhibit a strong tendency to make risky decisions that may jeopardize their future. These qualities are also in line with their experience-seeking behavior. As young entrepreneurs aim high in profitseeking activities, their ethical stance may be compromised. Moreover, their money profile increases at an accelerated pace, leading them to love money even more. Quantitatively, this study was the first to investigate the behavior of young entrepreneurs in terms of their love of money, religiosity, and ethical perceptions by adopting the hadith perspective in Islamic tradition by developing the scales of all constructs. The respondents were 261 members of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneur Association in Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia. This study also examined gender as the moderating variable. This study found that the love of money affects ethical perception negatively; on the other hand, religiosity positively aff...

In this study, we develop a conceptual framework for the examination of cross-cultural differences in ethical attitudes of business people based on the assumptions of integrative social contract theory (ISCT). ISCT reveals the relevant cultural and economic norms that are predictive of the level of the ethical attitudes among societies and at the same time points out the more subtle impact of social institutions on ethical attitudes of different groups within a society. The evidence supports the use of integrative theoretical approaches within the field of business ethics.

Operationalising the notion of ethics, along with its applications in the field of entrepreneurship, has made possible the investigation of the influence exerted by the socio-cultural, economic, and legal environment on entrepreneurs' ethical behavior while they engage in the process of entrepreneurship. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of socio-cultural, economic, and legal factors on the development of business ethics. On the other hand, we analyze the influence of the development of business ethics on the entrepreneurial process. The population of the study contained 57 Tunisian young entrepreneurs in different sectors. In order to gathering the data required for measuring the study variables a questionnaire was developed. The results of the study showed that some personal traits as well as certain socio-cultural, economic, and legal factors influence their decision during the entrepreneurial process. It has been noticed that there are significant differences between the levels of development in the ethical orientation characterizing each phase of the entrepreneurial process. These differences are related to the entrepreneur's strategy, the organizational environment, and stakeholders' strategies.

We examine the relationship between entrepreneurs" justification of unethical behavior and several individual and contextual factors. First, we extend the entrepreneurship and ethics literature by examining how entrepreneurs" differential access to resources affects their attitudes towards ethical issues. Second, we extend the literature by studying how the relationship between entrepreneurs" access to resources and their ethical attitudes is colored by the cultural and institutional context in which entrepreneurs are embedded. We test our hypotheses using individual-level data from 3,716 entrepreneurs and country-level data from 39 nations. Our results indicate that the influence of entrepreneurs" resources on their willingness to justify unethical behavior is contingent upon the type of resource in question. Furthermore, we found that a country"s uncertainty avoidance and level of government involvement moderate some of the relationships between entrepreneurs" access to resources and their ethical attitudes.

Recent work in the fields of ethics and entrepreneurship has raised the possibility that entrepreneurs may differ from other individuals in the moral issues they face, in their moral judgements and behaviors concerning those issues, and even in their level of cognitive moral development. While this work has been exploratory and its conclusions tentative, the findings raise two interesting questions: do entrepreneurs actually differ from non-entrepreneurs in their ethical orientations and, if so, why? We propose a model of ethical decision making for small business entrepreneurs. We suggest some ways in which the ethical framework of entrepreneurs may differ systematically from that of other business people and propose some areas for future research.
Entrepreneurship is one main significant factor that contribute in enhancing economic development for many countries. Specifically, entrepreneurs contribute substantially to job creation, new venture creation, product and service innovation, and many more. Thus, there is a great deal of research interest in entrepreneurship. While extensive research on entrepreneurship have been conducted to explore and examine various factors that influence intention and decision to become an entrepreneur, less attention has been given to understand entrepreneur personal values. On the other hand, the concept of value is one important variable to human life because values influence all aspects of human life. Moreover, values are known as the most defining elements of culture. Therefore, this current study will explore enterpreneurs’ values. Specifically, this research aims to explore and identify instrumental and terminal values of Indonesian entrepreneurs. Research method will be designed to address stages in identifying current instrumental and terminal values of Indonesian entrepreneurs. Data analysis will be consistent with procedures for developing scales.
Entrepreneurship is one of the main pillars of economic independence of the nation. By entrepreneurship, people are trained to be creative, performing a variety of innovations, and having a bold spirit and mental. Entrepreneurial activities will generate new jobs, increase public revenues, and the country's economic growth. Therefore, research on entrepreneurship is significant, especially in understanding entrepreneurs. Values form people belief to act or behave. Those values are a reflection of the culture of a country. Although research on entrepreneurship has been extensively carried out, not many studies focus on understanding the values of entrepreneurs, especially for small and medium entrepreneurs. Therefore, this study aims to identify entrepreneurs' values of instrumental and terminals as well as develop entrepreneurial model based on these values. Data will be collected using the survey method. Then, the data will be analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Expected outcomes of this research will be an entrepreneurial model of value for small and medium enterprises. Specifically, this research is a three-year research. The first year research aims to obtain entrepreneur values and key important factors of entrepreneurship. The second year aims to develop and validate entrepreneur values. Finally, the main objective of third year research is to develop an entrepreneurship model based on Indonesian cultural values.

It has a major role in creating jobs and reduce the unemployment rate for decades. Despite the religious and moral values of Indonesian which should have strong influences in ethical values in their day-today life, some Indonesian MSE's seem does not care for the safety of its consumers. They, some times, broke the laws and business ethics. The goal of this qualitative phenomenological research is to determine what are the major reason for MSE's to have such behavior that repeatedly had broken the Business Ethics. We made deep interviews and close observations to 10 (Ten) informants who have had the experience of breaking such laws and conducted unethical business by using dangerous chemical substances, such as textile color stuff, Borax, formalin, auburn textile, into their food products. These informants were chosen among many from 5 (five) different traditional flea market in 5(Five) different Sectors in the City of Bekasi, West Java Province of Indonesia. This paper reviews and extends the literature on entrepreneurs' ethical behavior. Building heavily on previous ethical decision making models, we argue that the nature of both the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurship context warrant additional theorizing within the ethics literature. We propose that entrepreneurs face unique and conflicting internal and external drivers of ethical behavior. While entrepreneurs' higher propensity for intuitive decision making and higher internal locus of control may lead to relatively higher ethical conduct, a need for achievement may produce the opposite result. Likewise, in the course of engaging in entrepreneurial activities, the entrepreneurs' higher accountability and concern for reputation may lead to relatively higher ethical conduct, while the increased uncertainty may countervail these pressures. us, the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurship context come together to create a unique and complex system of tensions that may or may not lead to ethical conduct. We discuss the implications of these tensions and future directions for research.
