CAD/CAM is a 21st century technology that related to the computer involvement in design and manufacturing. CAD/CAM is a latest technology developed in recent years. The CAD has main advantages over traditional methods, it enables the designer to examine a large number of design solutions and CAM simulate the work task may be performed in order to obtain the values of various performance measures in real manufacturing world. This paper discusses the advantages obtained from CAD/CAM integration. The applications of CAD/CAM integration used in CNC milling machine and virtual manufacturing operations have demonstrated the effectiveness of discuss methodology.
Purpose: An integrated CAD/CAM system for milling operations has been developed which helps designers to solve machining problems at the design stage. Design/methodology/approach: A methodology has been employed which provides all necessary information for machining products automatically. Use of these system results in reduced machining leadtimes and cost through designing machinable components; using available cutting tools; improving machining efficiency. The system is menu driven with a user friendly interface. Findings: Different components for developing such a system have been identified and various problems that arose in the development of this system have been dealt with The system developed leads to an adequate basis for fully integration of CAD and CAM technologies in one system. It allows simultaneous generation of all information required to satisfy machining requirements of the design such as its machinability and availability of the required tooling resources. Research limitations/implications: Different components required for developing such systems have been identified and various problems that arose in the development of these systems have been dealt with, leading to an adequate basis for complete integration of CAD and CAM technologies. Although much of the work described here goes beyond the scope of published literature, however, it should be noted that the system developed couldn't be considered as a complete solution to the CAD/CAM integration problem. Further work requires including other manufacturing activities that are considered in concurrent engineering concept. In this direction, further integration of the system developed with systems such as MRP, MRP II and assembly sequence planning packages are highly desirable. Originality/value: CAD/CAM integration is regarded as a solution for bridging the gap between design and manufacturing, one of the ultimate goals for concurrent engineering. Since the advent of CAD and CAM numerous attempts have been made to integrate these technologies; however, a full CAD/CAM integration is not yet achieved. In addition, most of the systems developed focus only on turning, leaving room for further investigation on other machining operations including milling. This paper goes one step closer towards achieving a full CAD/CAM integration for milling operations.
In this paper there are presented 3D modeling techniques using a performance software package, CATIA V5, as well as processing particularities when using CNC processing machines.
CAD/CAM technologies for superior product modelling in the intelligence of designing complete product variants become more and more pertinent in future. Many design techniques to help interdisciplinary design actions in different engineering domains in addition to consequent processes have to be developed. A necessary job to achieve this aim is to permanently investigate the present state of the art, emerging trends, new approaches, in addition to industrial problems and requirements about the entire CAD/CAM area. With the aim of direct future research and development activities as close as possible to the continuously rising requirements of a worldwide market we carried out a wide-ranging national study in cooperation with one of the Germans leading CAD/CAM magazines. In this way, it became possible to reach a representative amount of users, to obtain their experience based assessments on today's most important aspects of CAD/CAM technology. The results of this examination are summarized in this paper to give system developers, engineers, and researchers and overview of the present condition as well as to serve as a direction for decision makers in the Design and Development areas in the modern manufacturing technologies.

This paper presents improved methodology of the virtual simulation of turning and milling technological process of the selected components in the graphical interface of CAD/CAM system CATIA V5. Each technology of machining must be supported by selection of the relevant geometry of cutting tools and cutting materials. The technological system CNC machine toolprogressive cutting tool-workpiece-fixture must ensure sufficient stiffness, which has a direct influence on the quality of the surface finish of the final product. This technological process is important to enter the process of manufacturing of various precision engineering components of complex shape designed for the needs of automotive and aerospace industries. Using the highest level of programming through graphical engineering system is designed for creating the ISO programs using CNC machine tools. All simulations of cutting experiments show that the proposed clear-up tool path works well in the real cutting process and can improve the machining efficiency of the machining process. At the same time, the manufacturing must have the advanced process equipment and method due to the requirements of the design performance and machining efficiency. Then, the total cutting volumes of an impeller are conventionally machined by (CNC) machine that is set up.

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) have revolutionized Mechanical Engineering by enhancing precision, efficiency, and automation in design and production. CAD enables engineers to create, simulate, and optimize 2D/3D models, while CAM translates these designs into machine instructions for CNC machining, 3D printing, and robotic automation. Applications include product design, finite element analysis, CNC machining, and additive manufacturing. CAD/CAM reduces material waste, lowers costs, and improves productivity. Despite challenges like high costs and a steep learning curve, advancements in AI, cloud computing, and digital twin technology continue to enhance its impact, making CAD/CAM indispensable in modern engineering.

This paper briefly describes the steps of production with the help of CNC technology, to show its usage and advantages in industry. It starts from an idea which is then brought to life in a 3D model designed in the CAD software. It is followed by defining all the parameters for CNC milling using the CAM software. Finally, it is brought to the machine to be milled. In the end, the result is a product that can be used and produced more quickly than if everything had to be done manually. Everything is modelled in SolidWorks, the parameters are defined for milling in SolidCAM, and a G-code got from SolidCAM is loaded using a post processor called Mach3.

The development of unmanned machining systems has been a recent focus of manufacturing research. The conventional milling machine removes metal with a revolving cutting tool called a milling cutter. For this, CNC machines are in use. CNC machine operates on part program. This program includes several G-codes and M-codes. This program is generated by skilled operators. This may cause error in geometry. Also increases labor cost. Thus new technology of milling operation is conceptualized to reduce these problems using CAD/CAM. In this, firstly part design is created in CAD software like CATIA, ProE etc. This part design is fed in CAM software. Accordingly, coordinates forms. Also program is generated. According to that program, cutting tool operates to produce required part.
