ADHD is a complex disorder. It affects people in an age rank that may result in social alarm. Some beliefs such as the inexistence of the disorder, the toxicity of the treatment and adverse outcomes are not completely based in empiric evidence and appear to be false myths. A proper knowledge on ADHD and its treatment may help clinicians and families to achieve a more effective and patient centred treatment.
