Abstract

Cemil Meric, with his ideas left deep marks in Turkey. He included many topics in his works, and conveyed his thoughts about belief systems such as Judaism, Christianity, Indian Religions and sacred texts in his books. In this study, his views on the Bible were discussed. Since examining his views on religions may exceed the scope of an article, the study was limited to Meric’s viewsin the Bible. Meric included the sections that make up the Bible, their compilation and the process of canonization. While dealing with the Bible, he gave more space to the Tanakh / Old Testament, and less to the New Testament, which is considered as sacred only for Christians. The article consists of an introduction, three parts, and a conclusion. In the introduction, Cemil Meric’s life was briefly mentioned, and information about his work in the Bible was presented. Then in the first part, the Bible and its translations were examined. The second part, which is longer, dealt with the subject of the Old Testament. In the third and last part, the subject of the New Testament was discussed. The aim of the study was to examine Cemil Meric’s views on the Bible, and to contribute to Meric’s readers ‘ for better understanding of the relevant sections
