The explorations presented in the article provide a brief outline of the larger affirmative humanities project. Following Rosi Braidotti’s ideas of affirmative ethics and politics, I propose an understanding of affirmative humanities as a way of moving away from a postmodernist interest in apocalypse, catastrophes, extinction, trauma, suffering, voids, silence and exclusion. I consider affirmative humanities to be a project that is future oriented, envisioning the future in more positive ways (which is not to say naive and unrealistic ways), while aiming to empower the subject (human and non-human, individual as well as collective) and looking for alternative forms of community. Overview of Ancient History, 2022
In her prologue to The Secret Doctrine, written in 1888 A.D., the occultist, Madame Helena Blavatsky challenges writers past and present to dispute her conclusions. The biography of this Russian lady can be found on Wikipedia so there is no need to focus on her as a personality. It was her belief that this collection of Thoughts or Secret Wisdom called The Book of Dyzan was the oldest Book written and she was the first to translate it into an European language. Arguably, the Thoughts presented in her Book cannot be proven just as conjecture is subjective. However, she does provide a clue to Theosophy when she says of Plato, the Greek scholar: "Plato proves himself an Initiate when saying … the first astronomers who. observed the motions of the heavenly bodies called the planets "Theoi" the gods."

the article is devoted to the problem of the transmission of scientific knowledge in the context of globalization of qualitative paradigm. this has to do not only with language barriers but also with political and scientific contexts, in which research is embedded [Flick 2014]. here we will try to touch upon some aspects of the process focusing on Russian specifics in receiving and interpreting F. Znaniecki’s ideas and concepts. 1) how did the dominant normative model of society influence the professional attitudes and behavior towards “new” kind of sociological thinking? 2) how did “new” interact with the habitual system of knowledge and methodological orientations of scientific community? 3) how did internal differentiation influence on perception of new ideas? (“man of knowledge” type). the article tries to follow this process in a chronological way in the frames of changing social and professional context of the country. the first part is devoted to late Soviet period; the secon...
Cultural studies, 2007
Is cultural studies becoming-strategic in accordance with its context? In this era where traditional conceptual tactics have not provided the desired results, perhaps we can experiment with new techniques. This essay explores one such tactic and commitment, namely the faith in publicity as a truth-telling strategy to expose, and ultimately neutralize, power’s machinations. We are witnessing a regime-oftruth change, one that requires us to rethink our own notions and attachments to truth, insofar as it is tied to revealing and concealing, to secrecy and publicity. Recent events compel us to revise our conceptions of publicity, secrecy, and activist strategy. How can cultural studies recognize its own commitment to transparency and publicity, and make it alterable? By turning an eye towards secrecy, justly, cultural studies can become a strategic craft that enhances its capacities to remake its context.
