Territorialidade e arte rupestre

2007, Revista de Arqueologia

Taking as a start point the development of the project "Archaeology of Caririidentification and recording of archaeological sites", supported by a CNPq (Edital Universal) grant, it was possible both to assess the situation of the archaeological patrimony (already known from the literature) for this region, as well as to identify new sites. This article aims to discuss the distribution of rock art archaeological sites in the region, in order to develop some hypotheses on the territoriality of these manifestations. First we observed aesthetic diversity, considering techniques of representation and rock matrixes, searching for similarities or dissimilarities with existing classification for the northeast region. This was accomplished using georeferenced maps, locating sites according to aesthetic attributes, techniques and environmental variables. Departing from the results, a hypothesis is proposed to orient future research.
