Association of Mass Media Researchers. I found the conference theme important, as Russia is now searching for a new place in the world within cultural, political, economic, and academic contexts. In my opinion, the Russian school of journalism research must take a well-deserved place in this arena and become an equal partner in international mutually advantageous exchanges. The de-Westernization trend in media studies ) has created good conditions for this. With that in mind, I will (a) show that questions of interaction of Russian and Western colleagues are complex as they have deep cultural underlying reasons, (b) characterize changes in the global media research community which create a favorable background for internationalization of Russian research, (c) reveal objective and subjective obstacles for international academic interaction, and (d) specify some practical steps toward intensifying international cooperation in this area.

This paper presents a pilot study aimed at streamlining and systematizing information on the development of the communicative trends in Russia. To achieve this goal the authors utilize the results of the examination of the most significant long-term projects of the Russian Communication Association (RCA) in relation to their dynamics and quantitative indicators across disciplines and contextual diversity of its members' profiles, activities and partnerships with academic schools, other professional organizations, specialized departments, faculties and universities in Russia and worldwide. The data sources included the archives of documents and publications, including the archive on the RCA public website (russcomm.ru), journals, monographs and books collected during the implementation of the association's book project, and internet resources. In addition, the examination was supported by the results of the survey (open-ended questions) of a representative sample of the RCA members and participants of the RCA's social groups, and by the results of direct observations of the behavior of the participants of the scientific communication. These observations mostly focused on the behavior of the participants during preparatory and implementation stages of the RCA's most significant events and in events of interpersonal communication: e-mail correspondence, mailing lists, answers and comments to messages in social groups, etc. The results of the examination can provide insights for further development of studies in the domain of theory and practice of communication.

The purpose of the research was to analyse modern communication strategies of specialized Ukrainian magazines. Methods of functional, logical analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction were used. It was highlighted how Ukrainian professional journals are oriented in new conditions, what is their structure and content. The results show that the structural elements of the same-topic magazines differ and correlate with the topics of the publications and the needs of advertisers. There is also an analysis of intent as an example of representation of professional women in a magazine. The value of the results provides an opportunity to single out the main modern communication strategies and evaluate their impact on the formation of the information space in Ukraine.

This paper presents the results of academic papers that studied Russian academic journals between 2014 and 2024. Problems of the effective development of journals have been discussed intensively for the last 2 years. This is caused mainly by information restrictions, resulting in increased interest in Russian academic journals as viewed from authors, readers (who have partly lost access to international literature), and decision makers in the area of research evaluation. At the same time, the persistent efforts of the expert community in developing journals and increasing their authority in international information space in the last decade have demonstrated high results. This review reveals the main directions of studies of Russian academic journals, as well as highlights those that need to be investigated in the near future. We describe the role and opportunities of academic journals in relation to their bibliometric evaluation, the urgent concerns of peer-review, ethical questions in preparing manuscripts, and the role of university journals in the general group of Russian serials. Concurrently, we detect some technical problems affecting electronic journal systems and the digitization of paper-based archive issues.

The article considers a position of Russian journalism theory in international context and professional cooperation in this connection. Publications of Russian media scholars are practically unknown abroad. At the same time theoretical concepts from the West are poorly suited for adequate understanding of national journalism with its original traditions and professional characteristics. Russian research school should take the place of equal partner in the international community and act according to principles of mutually useful exchange. Global De-Westernization trend in media studies creates good conditions for this. The objective and subjective reasons of such a state of affairs are examined in the article. The main purpose of the paper consists in discovering contradictory relations of isolation / cooperation between Russian and international studies in journalism theory. The author also suggests ways to solution of this problem
