This paper examines the relationships among tacit knowledge, knowledge sharing, and service innovation performance. To examine the relationships, we collected the survey data by targeting employees in a service industry, The Lebanese Broadcast Corporation International (LBCI) located in Lebanon (n = 162). It is a leading Lebanese and Arab television station. The results indicate that there exists a positive relationship between (1) tacit knowledge and service innovation performance; and (2) knowledge sharing and service innovation performance. Also, this study finds that knowledge sharing mediates the relationship between tacit knowledge and service innovation performance. The value of the current study is presented in examining the mediating role of knowledge sharing. Our findings suggest that firms could encourage and motivate their employees to share their knowledge in order to enhance service innovation performance.

The Resource-Based View (RBV) states the intangible resources as knowledge resources that provide better and more strategic outcomes than tangible resources of the organization. In this discourse, this study inclines to investigate the role of explicit and tacit knowledge sharing practicing (KSP) on the performance of banks with a mediating role of innovation. The existing instrument is utilized to gather the information from 268 managers from the sample size of 42 banks. Confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) utilized to assess the accuracy of the model. The results of the study shed light that innovation altogether intervenes in the relationship between both explicit and tacit knowledge-driven performance. Further, findings of the study postulate that explicit KSP fundamentally gives momentum to the performance of banks comparatively tacit KPS thus emphasizes that managers need to increase the flow of tacit KSP through social networking, etc.
Knowledge sharing (KS) is one of the pillars among the factor in knowledge management. There are numerous ways in which knowledge sharing might be beneficial to organizational productivity, competitiveness and innovative initiatives. Dialogue delivery involved during knowledge sharing, often lead to generation of new ideas, which form the ground for the nurturing of new knowledge. KS helps in marketing effectiveness and enhances organizational innovativeness. The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of employees' knowledge sharing, and to what extent KS affect their innovative thinking/ initiatives. The research will first investigate the general roles knowledge management and knowledge sharing plays on organizational performance and later focus on how the sharing of personal/individual knowledge affects the employees overall critical thinking and consequently their innovation initiatives and innovation. The research will also discuss the effects on employees' KS on groups and consequently on the group's overall innovative ideas. Generally, employees resist sharing what they know as they believe they would lose competitiveness. Such thinking not only prevents the learning within the group but also affects the employees' innovation initiatives as we posit is the only way to be more creative is to be exposed to other's ideas which in most circumstances act as triggers for ideas and innovations generation. We argue that, for innovation to happen, KS is essential key factor in the process. The paper introduced a framework which demonstrates how knowledge sharing takes place in an organization by identifying the factors required for the sharing to take place. In addition, the paper argues that these factors are the drive for and trigger employees' innovation and consequently increase organizational learning.

The main purpose of this chapter is to look at how tacit knowledge affects organizational success. Th...

It is widely accepted that knowledge management is a critical factor affecting an organization’s ability to remain competitive in the global marketplace. However, despite the growth in easily using and accessing online information, employees must still rely on their co-workers for knowledge sharing to deal effectively with their work. The thorny form of knowledge sharing is tacit knowledge because it is an experience that is embedded in an individual. Organizations recognize this and must develop a mechanism for obtaining this collective intelligence and skills of its employees to create a greater organizational knowledge base. Using the literature, this study critically analyzes the impact of tacit knowledge sharing on job performance. The study will also briefly explore any likely interactions between ta...

Knowledge sharing is an asset for industrial organizations. These assets play a key role in global competition. Especially in increasing the innovation capacity of Small and Medium Industries (IKM). In this case innovation means introducing new products, making qualitative changes to existing products, introducing new processes in industrial organizations, creating new markets, and developing new sources of raw materials or other inputs. Much knowledge is stored in individuals, which is called tacit knowledge. Using the Resource-Based View, this paper aims to provide a better understanding of the effect of knowledge on innovation. With this general aim in mind, we relate knowledge's nature (tacit vs. explicit) and process (e.g. knowledge exchange and combination) to innovation. Using a sample of 105 innovative firms, we find a positive linear effect of tacit knowledge on innovation and a curvilinear relationship between knowledge exchange and combination and innovation. We also find a moderating effect of tacit knowledge on the curvilinear relationship between knowledge exchange and combination and innovation. We speculate on our findings and connect them to previous theory.
