The book - BETWEEN GEISHAS AND SAMURAIS - Photographies and stories of a trip - narrates a travel of 12 months carried out by Atlio Avancini to Japan. It shows, through photographies and words, the history of a country that is composed of tradition and modernity, of new and old; of reality and myth. The author plunges into the experience of photographing and writing about a thousand-year-old civilization and, in sensitive way, reveals the new sense of the urbane space that is outlined in Japan nowadays.

RESUMO Dentre as formas mais belas e provocadoras da poesia inserem-se os haikais. São "cápsulas" de poemas dotadas de uma beleza e simplicidade que maravilham. Eles tratam daquilo que é mais terrenal, do que está próximo, embora muitas vezes escape ao olhar desatento. Expressam uma atenção particular ao que advém, nos momentos singulares, de encontros e despedidas; evocam sentimentos e estados que acompanham as estações da vida. Não são movidos por razões explicativas, estão simplesmente aí, para indicar e aludir a força e a vitalidade do instante. ABSTRACT Among the most beautiful and provocative forms of poetry the haikus stand out. They are poems "capsules" endowed with a beauty and simplicity that marvel. They talk about what is most earthly, what's next, although often escape the inattentive gaze. They express a particularly attention in singular moments of meetings and goodbyes. They evoke feelings and states that follow the seasons of life. They are not moved by explanatory reasons, they are simply there to display and allude to the strength and vitality of the moment. One of the criteria for developing the haiku poem is the presence of kigo, which literally means "the term of the season", and can perceive, in this sense, the appreciation of nature through this concise poetic art, consisting of verses of 17 syllables, in order of 5-7-5 syllables. Thus, the present study aims to bring reflections about the haiku poems produced by the Japanese immigrants in Amazonas, pointing out the relationship between man and environment, in order to make a simple and brief development of the fauna and flora of the Amazon region. Alfredo Bosi (2015, p.9) affirms this creative, reflexive and imaginative character of poetry as "the shelter of memory, the tones and mod
